Timeline/Spoilers: early series (fits in any 'verse); spoiler-free

Summary: Arm and leg forged from steel, and still you forge onward. — Don't forget 3 . Oct . 11 ; FMA Day!

Notes: FMA Day. This series means so much to me, and today is the day to pay homage to this breathtaking story. And this time, I thought I'd go back to the roots. For, at the heart, it is simply a tale of two brothers.

A lesson without pain is meaningless. One who does not sacrifice anything cannot achieve anything . . .

It all began on a day
Much like any other
One that rambunctious young minds
Would usually forget

But that morn was different
One way or another
In a way that neither you nor I
Would ever forget

And so, underneath
That bright summer's sun
An angel flew off
To a place far beyond
In such a way
That we could not forget

She vanished from our lives
Without so much as a sound
But the faintest breath upon her lips
Spoken for a man
That you would do anything to forget

And so she said,
"I'm sorry, I cannot wait,
It's my time to move on,
But that promise we made,
Oh, I did not forget"

And neither did you
Stubborn brother of mine
I know you were hurt
Ah, as was I
So don't you dare forget

For the blame lies not
Only with you
I played my part, too
A fact that you
Will never cease to forget

Arm and leg forged from steel
And still you forge onward
Seal born of blood
Bound to a body of metal
With two firm feet left to stand on
Your words to keep moving
I will not forget

A house left abandoned
For a home it was no longer
Burnt to the ground
The third of October
The little town we came from
The family we were raised of
We must not forget

The journey ahead
Filled with more loss
Than I care to remember
But I know that we
Shall never forget

Dog of the military
Slave to the state
Agent against the people
So you are called
But I know the truth
For what you have done
They should not forget

Sellout to the masses
But a hero to one
Do not forget

So now we march forward
Down this pathway towards our past
That you alone will always refuse to forget

But you will not face
These dangers alone
For we are brothers
No bond could be stronger
None could replace you
So please,
Don't forget

. . . But once you overcome the pain and make it your own...you will gain an irreplaceable fullmetal heart.

A/N: Even from Al's POV, I still end up writing Ed angst. I have a problem haha.
