Fly, Little Robin, Fly.

They watched in awed silence as Robin, their little bird, flew through the sky with ease.

Gasping at every twist, turn and flip; letting out short heart-stopping breaths whenever they thought he'd flown too far, or his wings had stopped flapping, only to sigh in relief and joy when once again their little bird spread his wings and flew.

Flew.

Their little bird did that, and they couldn't help but feel proud that they had been his very first teachers.

But he had a new teacher now; a loyal, caring, down-to-earth man who wanted nothing but to keep the young boy safe.

That was enough for Mary and John Grayson.

Of course, their little bird wasn't flying right now.

In fact, he hadn't flown all day.

No, today he had sat and wept and baked cookies and tried so damn hard to leave his nest.

But he couldn't; not today.

Not ever, really.

He'd always belong to the nest that was Haley's Circus.

So after his face was stained with salt, Richard Grayson wiped his eyes and put down the white lilies' onto his parent's graves. Casting one last longing look, he walked into Bruce's waiting arms and travelled home, shutting himself into his room, closing his eyes and waiting for the moment he could fall asleep.

"We are so proud of you, my little Robin." Mary whispered gently, caressing her son's mop of raven hair.

"So, so proud." Her husband John agreed, leaning down to give the boy a kiss on his forehead.

"We love you." They said together, sharing one last look between them before fading off, into the rising sun.

Thirteen year old Dick Grayson smiled in his sleep, his mouth forming the barely audible words: "I love you both, too."

A/N: So here's my first Young Justice fanfic! I know it's slightly jumpy and doesn't completely make sense, but I just really wanted to write one and this came to me.
