"Let me get this straight. You just stood there and let him run. Not even bothering to chase after him."
"Erm yes...but I didn't think he'd actually get away...I mean this is Doofenshmirtz we're talking about..."
Carl's eyes narrowed even more as he glared up at Bloodpudding. The scientist involuntarily took a step back, surprised at the amount of rage coming from the teen.
"Precisely. Because of your idiocy, there is a high chance of everything I've done so far falling to pieces!"
"Don't you think you're over-reacting? Just a bit? I mean, this is Doofenshmirtz we're talking about! The guy's too clueless to do anything. If anything, he probably ran back to his building to avoid all this."
Carl pinched the bridge of his nose as he turned away from him. "This." he sighed, his temper seemingly disappearing, "Is why no one in this stupid organization has taken over yet. You underestimate everyone. Give them enough wiggle room to take advantage and win. Making you and the rest of L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. lose."
As he listened to the teen rant, Bloodpudding found himself growing more and more uneasy and sensed that maaaaybe he should be leaving while Carl was monologuing. But, he decided to ignore that feeling for now. If there was one thing he prided himself on, it was his ability to be a team player.
Though, that pride quickly vanished as a new figure entered the room. The hair, mustache, and labcoat were all very familar. It was him; if he was made of metal. Bloodpudding's eyes darted back and forth between the robot and the teen. He wished he hadn't. As if the shock of seeing a clone of himself hadn't been enough, the sick glee on the kid's face was even worse.
"...Are you...what are you...planning to do with that thing? Replace me with it?"
Carl nodded. "Yes, yes I am. But first, you're going to serve as an example of what happens when someone doesn't follow orders."
Team Player or not, this was where he drew the line. Turning on his heel, Bloodpudding sprinted for the nearest door, hoping the sudden action would surprise Carl enough that he could get away. Unfortunately, his robotic double was incapable of being startled by sudden actions. In less than five seconds, the thing had caught up to him and had its hands gripped tightly on his wrists and began steering him back towards the teen.
"Nice try, but we have a meeting to call to order. One that I'm sure you wouldn't want to miss."
...
It was by pure chance that they ran into each other. He had been heading to his building to work on a ReGood-Inator for Carl and Perry...well, he didn't know where Perry had been heading. He hoped it hadn't been somewhere too important because if it was he didn't have time to feel gleeful about making Perry miss something. But the worry and slight stress over the situation on hand didn't change the fact he was relieved to see his nemesis, or maybe it was. Eh, he'd figure it out later.
"Perry the Platypus! You're okay!" He couldn't help scooping up the agent as he ran. Perry was a bit faster than him, but considering every second passed was a second they didn't have they didn't have time to waste for him to try and keep up with the agent and tell him everything that had happened. This way, with Heinz carrying him, he could be sure Perry heard everything. And having physical confirmation that Perry was okay didn't hurt either.
"So uh, I don't know if you've heeeard or not, but I'm guessing not since you're out running around and not in a cage at L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. headquarters or or pinned down at the OWCA building, which is totally weird if you think about it. Like if Dr. Coconut's evil again why is he letting you run around in the first place? Especially if he's got the rest of the agency beaten? Weird right? Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that the kid's evil again because Rodney for whatever crazy stupid reason thought it was a good idea to use MY inator on him!" Heinz let out a huff of frustration. "Once this is all over Perry the Platypus, I am having words with him. WORDS!"
As Heinz rambled on about what he was going to do once he got ahold of his rival, Perry was deep in his own thoughts.
So; Carl wasn't doing all this all entirely by choice. He'd been zapped by the same exact ray as last time. Perry's eyes narrowed. While Heinz might be content to just give Rodney a stern talking to, Perry would make sure he would face the proper legal repercussions and if he ran into him face to face before then, well, it wasn't as if Rodney was in the running for any beauty contests before now.
Soon they were standing before the DEI building. While Perry was a little reluctant to go back into the building, (what if Carl had placed more of his robots in there?) he'd been in too much of a panic to really clean up the mess from the battle (what if Carl was attacking his boys? He had used them last time to draw him out); Heinz had no qualms or worries about going into his building. In fact, he seemed to be in bit of a rush, muttering under his breath in German every time the keypad beeped whenever he hit the wrong numbers in his haste. After probably a couple of minutes of this, they were up in the penthouse. Heinz had thankfully (albeit a little rudely) dropped him as he hurried off to his lab, barely throwing a glance at the rest of his apartment.
Breathing a small sigh of relief that Heinz hadn't noticed the mess of his kitchen, Perry set to work tidying it up so that he wasn't just standing around while Heinz….worked on whatever he was so set on making. Hopefully another ReGoodInator. And while he was still worried for Phineas and Ferb and what Carl might do to them, and for Carl in general, cleaning helped distract him from it. One of the first lessons drilled into an agent's head was that the best way to do your job was to remain calm. To save all the stress and worry for later. Even if staying calm meant you had to screw cabinet doors back on and put away slightly battle-dented pots and pans.
As Perry put the mini-screwdriver back into the tools pocket of his hat, he shot a glance towards the area Heinz had run off to. He should have been done by now….right? Uneasy, Perry cautiously made his way towards Heinz's lab. Just as when he first entered D.E.I., he had the unnerving feeling that he was being watched. Eyes narrowing, Perry grabbed the nearest object by him and kept going, ever watchful for either Heinz or one of Carl's robots. Hearing a loud crash followed by what he assumed to be German swear words, Perry picked up his pace to a run and came upon what may have been one of the weirdest scenes of his career.
Heinz was viciously hitting what looked like Agent M with a broom while at the same time trying to steal back what looked like a half-finished ray gun from Agent D. It was only when the robotic clone of Agent D head-butted him back a little ways that he noticed Perry.
Shooting the dog a sour look, Heinz hit the robot hard with his broom and turned to face Perry. "Sure. NOW you show up. Where were you five minutes ago when these guys first showed up? What? Platypi can't hear from a certain distance or something? Or-oof-do you just have selective hearing like teenagers and 'Perry the Platypus help! Robot versions of your agent buddies are beating me up and messing with my blueprints!' just goes unheard by you?"
Perry offered a low growl in reply as he moved to knock the Agent D lookalike off of Heinz, figuring that the recovery of the ray gun would be the most important thing. After receiving a well-placed kick to the side and hitting the floor, the robot stared intently at Perry. To his alarm, its eyes turned a bright red as its jaw dropped as it began to emit a high pitched shrieking that caused him to instinctively cover his ears.
A short distance away, the robot that Heinz was fighting paused as the sound reached it. Eyes turning red as well, it bared its teeth at him as it effortlessly dodged the broom coming at it, grabbing the end and yanking it from the doctor's grip before breaking it.
Heinz stared at the broken broom for a second before putting his fists up. "So it's like that huh? I'll have you know I was the boxing champion in middle school back in Gimmelshtump. Telling you this now cuz you stand no and I mean no-"
Heinz crumpled to the floor in pain from the robot's fist slamming into his stomach. Heinz wasn't sure, but he could have sworn the stupid thing was smirking now. Peachy. Not only had the kid sent what were probably killer robots to prevent him from rebuilding a ReGoodInator but he had to send killer robots with attitude.
Deciding that he was down for the count, the robotic monkey turned to assist its partner in destroying Perry the Platypus.
To the agent's credit, he was holding up well. While the high pitched frequency was indeed causing him to miss a couple of steps, he was still managing to avoid getting hit by one of the canine's various weapons. Currently, its left paw had become a buzz saw and it was taking all of Perry's concentration and training to avoid being hit with it while at the same time, trying to figure out how to disable it.
Unlike the battle in Africa, there were no rocks to deflect and break it with, nor an open plain with some trees and bushes to better dodge the attacks and/or get the blade stuck.
The high pitched whining coming from the dog's mouth didn't help him come up with better options beyond 'dodge' either.
He'd just jumped backwards to avoid a particularly deadly blow when he felt himself bump into something hard. Thinking it to just be a wall or a side to Heinz's workbench, Perry moved forward in an attempt to slam the dog's jaw shut when he felt cold metal encircle and pin his arms to his side. Twisting his head a little to see what exactly had him, he found the robotic clone of Agent M grinning down at him.
A deep ball of dread seemed to settle in the bottom of his stomach as he twisted his neck forwards again to see Agent D's copy raise its buzz saw over its head to land a finishing blow to him.
Despite all his training and rational thinking, animal instinct took over and he panicked. All he could do was squirm as he was held in place and try fruitlessly to delay the inevitable as he tried to figure out some way out of this. A loose screw lying around or or a…..fist slamming through….the robot's head?
Perry could do nothing but just stare at Heinz in numb shock as his nemesis pulled his hand out of the now gaping hole in the head of the robotic canine and glared daggers at the robot still holding Perry.
"Let. Him. Go. Or I'll show you another move from my boxing days."
Unsurprisingly, the robot let go, and if Perry wasn't mistaken, it was backing up, hands up in what seemed like a peaceful surrender.
A small grunt from Heinz drew Perry's attention back to him. He had his arms crossed, almost protectively, as he lightly kicked the broken robot. "I'll give it to the kid; he knows how to build a killer robot. Uh Perry….could you do me a favor and keep an eye on that monkey for me while I go grab my tools? It'll only be a second. Just make sure he doesn't leave the building."
Perry gave him a small nod and glanced over at the remaining monkey and growled. He may be a little worn from the last couple of battles but he was confident he could beat it this time round.
…
True to his word, it only took Heinz a moment to return with tools in hand and, to Perry's slight confusion, the doctor was wearing a glove on one of his hands.
"He didn't move or do anything funny did he?"
Perry shook his head 'no'.
"Good! Now….just need to, open him up...uuuuh Perry the Platypus, could you help me hold him down? I don't want to deactivate it but I also don't want it to hit me in the face as I'm working."
Between the two of them, they managed to keep the robot from moving too much as Heinz carefully worked on rewiring it, being sure to explain to Perry exactly what he was doing.
"…So you see, if I twist this wire this way and then this one over it, I can override Carl's commands on 'killing us' or I guess, 'get us out of the way long enough', and just have it go back to him and let him think it did its job, especially if we give it a decoy to bring back with it, Carl with think we've been taken out of the way, won't think about us coming because he'll think we're out of the picture and then boom! We hit him with the real ReGoodInator and everything'll be fixed. Well mostly. I think L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N. is going to have to have some rules instated where you can't use other member's inators without their say so but that's more of the technical stuff you don't need to worry about aaaaand done. We now have a killer robot on our side."
Rolling his shoulders, Heinz frowned. "Now to just….build a decoy ray, two more regular ones and finish up the first one." Rubbing his eyes with the gloved hand, Perry thought he heard him mutter 'don't have time for this' before smiling brightly at him.
"Heeeeey Perry, you don't mind helping me a little more do you?

A/N Heeeeeeeeeey everyone; sorry for the mondo wait between updates. Life's been a little hectic this past year between work and college but hopefully with this big chunk of text I've been working on and off for the past year or so finally done, I'll be able to move on with the story and finish it.
