Third Person's POV

"Did you miss me, kitten?" The Victor grinned devilishly over at Shade. For a moment, Finnick wondered if she was going to hit him when he saw her face go blank but instead, her scantily glad form jumped on him. Her arms circled his neck in an impossibly tight hug and Finnick realized he was almost being chocked out.

"S-Shade!" He coughed and she soon released him from her death trap.

"What are you doing here?" She squeaked.

"Saving you, naturally..." He murmured before unbuttoning the rest of his shirt so that he could drape it across her shoulders. Gratefully excepting the shirt, she tugged it closer to her body and found that it was overly large on her thin form. But the gesture was still endearing and she didn't like being so naked around him.

"How can you even be alive? I watched you get blown up!" She asked him, her hand suddenly flying up into his hair. She tugged on it slightly, half expecting it to be a wig but was surprised when he cried out in pain.

"That's real hair thank you very much!"

"And you dyed it for me?!" She tackled him again, both of them flying back to land on the bed. Finnick grabbed her shoulders and pushed her off him, not used to all the hugging.

"Do you want something to drink?" He asked as he rolled off the bed, leaving her on it. Striding over to the coffee table, he punched a few buttons on the touch screen table and it dimmed the pent house windows slightly but they could still see the city below them.

"Do you even have to ask." She asked as she stood up from the bed and followed behind him, taking up a spot on the love seat. Finnick picked up the bottle and pulled the lose cork out with his teeth before spitting it in God knows what direction. Picking up two wine glasses, he poured one for Shade and one for himself.

Plopping down next to her, Shade pulled her legs up underneath her and took the wine glass Finnick offered her. Quickly raising it to her lips, she drank almost half the glass and Finnick frowned slightly. "Long night?"

"Yeah..." She muttered taking another sip, a smaller one. "I was forced to be a prostitute. How long do you think my nights been?" She took another sip, wanting to numb her feelings as much as possible.

"And might I add, you looked wonderful in the dress. Like a real... Queen." He teased, widening his eyes slightly, apparently knowing all about Snow's little taunts. Shade simply held her wine glass out, wanting more of the drink. Finnick obliged filling her glass again.

"Don't mention that word ever again." She muttered into her wine glass, taking another long sip. She gazed out at the Capitol buildings across the way, a distant look in her eyes.

"Alright, alright. I'm sorry..." He said, clearly sensing the dark mood she was in. She snuggled more into Finnick's shirt, her wine glass clutched in both her hands.

"I've gone through a lot of shit, Finnick. You don't even know."

"Actually, I do..." He reached down on the table before them and picked up a stray tablet. Turning it on, he showed her a program that had four cameras projected onto the small screen. They all showed her apartment and Shade wondered how he had gotten live footage of her apartment. He pulled up a screen and it showed Cato, lying on the bed in her room with one hand pulling his own hair, the other resting on his stomach.

He looked worried.

"How did you-"

"We have friends in high places." Was all he said as he pulled up another page of images and Shade guessed that it was more cameras.

"Plutarch?"

"Yup." The both of them grew quiet after that, Sam simply staring down into her wine glass. Finnick placed his hand on her bare knee. "Shade, we're going to get you out of here. Tonight." Her head snapped over to look at him. "There's a hover craft waiting for when I give them the signal."

"Really?" She sat up slightly, almost dumping her glass of wine.

"All I have to do is push that button right there..." He pointed at a green button on the tablet and Shade stared at it for a moment.

"What about Cato?" Finnick was silently then, knowing that she wouldn't like the answer that she was going to get. She sighed before letting her head fall into her hands, the glass of wine forgotten on the coffee table before her.

"You know I'm not leaving him."

"Shade... We might not get another chance to come back and get you-"

"I didn't leave him in the arena and I'm not leaving him now." Finnick was silent as he stared at her form. She sat up, her eyes staring blankly ahead of her before she slowly turned to look at him. The Victor only shook his head, knowing that he was going to get his ass chewed for doing what he was about to do. He was only supposed to collect Shade and get out. Simple as that.

But of course, she had to go and make things complicated.

"Fine. Listen closely. Snow won't stop using your body until you are utterly broken, alright? When you get a client, always order a bottle of wine to take with you at this liquor store." He handed her a slip of paper with an address and a phone number. "Ask for Glow. She'll help you." Finnick then stood up and walked across the room until he pulled a suitcase out of a closet. He reached inside before pulling out a bottle of colorful pills. "Take one of these before going to see your client. Always take one. If you run out, just speak with Glow again and she'll get you what you need..."

"I don't understand how this will help, Finnick..." Shade looked down at the slip of paper and pills in her hands before she turned her eyes back up to look at him.

"You won't have to have sex with the clients. The wine will have a strong hallucinatory drug in it so they will think you had a crazy night with them. Wake up happy as a lark and you'll be gone by then. The Peacekeepers will only escort you for the first few times before Snow just assumes that you'll follow his orders. The pills I gave you will cancel the drug when you drink the wine so you'll be normal and able to get out before they wake up. Everyone wins."

"But what if it doesn't work?"

"It will work. Don't worry about it. You'll only have to go so long before we'll plan a rescue mission. Now, they are going to ship you off to District 2 but you're going to have to travel back and forth to the Capitol to meet with clients..."

"What do I tell Cato?" This caused the Victor to grow silent once again before he raked a hand through his hair before standing up. He began to pace back and forth before her.

"Go home. Meet his family. Play the part you're supposed to."

"I meant about the prostituting..."

"Oh!" He stopped suddenly before clapping his hands together. "Tell him that you had to give your dress and shoes to the buyers but Snow needed to talk to you and he wouldn't let you leave. But after that, when you have to leave for the Capitol, just tell him you have shows to attend and you should be fine..." She glanced back down at the pills and note before looking back at Finnick one more time. "Now get to bed..." He ordered her and she didn't even hesitate when moving towards the bed after putting the pills in her coat pocket that still lay on the floor from where she had left it.

Lying down in the large bed, she tossed a pillow over her shoulder and Finnick caught it. She also tossed him one of the blankets off the bed before he approached the right side of the bed. Also stealing one of the sheets from the bed, Finnick laid it down on the floor before he himself laid down, pulling the blankets over himself.

Shade also curled into the warmth of the blankets before she buried her face into the soft pillow.

"Hey, Finnick?" She asked quietly, the crackling of the fire the only sound in the apartment. The green eyed male just lay on his back, his mind racing one hundred miles an hour.

"Yeah?"

"I'm glad you weren't blown up." She muttered with a smile before burying her face into the pillow. Finnick just raised his hands up before placing them behind his head, a soft smile on his face.

He didn't reply and instead just turned on his side, pulling the covers up to his chin before he began to drift off to sleep.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Finnick sat up, his hair a wild mess upon his head and his eyes riddled with sleep. Someone was at the door.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

They had already come to collect Shade.

Scrambling up from his bed, he took in the sight of the sleeping girl in the bed before he threw his pillow at her. It landed right on her head and he heard her groan before she slowly raised herself off the bed.

"What is it?"

"They're here to collect you!" He hissed quietly as he began to scramble about the room. He threw his blankets that were on the floor up onto the bed. Running to the coffee table, he picked up the bottle of wine and took it with him to the bathroom.

"Who?"

"The Peacekeepers!" He hissed again and she sat up fully this time. Her own sleep riddled eyes widened slightly and she scrambled off the bed as Finnick ran passed her. "No, you stay here but take the rest of your clothes off." She looked at him like he had gone crazy and he only rolled his eyes. "We need to convince them!" She frowned for a moment before laying down and pulling the covers back up to her chin.

Underneath the blankets, she unfastened her aquamarine bra and tossed it out onto the floor. She also reached down and pulled her underwear off, slightly freaking out that she was completely naked in front of a man. Tossing her underwear out as well, Finnick quickly picked it up before he put it into the pocket of his pants. Shade just sent him a slightly disturbed look but didn't say anything, figuring that he knew what he was doing. Unfastening his belt, Finnick let his trousers hang loosely around his belt.

"Mess up your makeup and hair." Finnick commanded as he also moved to the bathroom so that he could put his contacts back in so that he was convincing. He quickly popped the strange things back into his eyes before he let her panties hang in sight from his pocket, trying to make this as convincing as possible. Dumping the rest of the wine down the sink, he also took a swig himself before returning to the main living quarters. Running back to the coffee table, he placed the wine on its side, beside the nearly empty wine glasses.

Further messing up his own hair, the man moved to the door and opened the front door, glad that they had waited.

"What?" He snapped, holding his pants up so that it appeared that he had hustled to put his clothes on.

"We're here for Miss Matson." One of the Peacekeepers said as they peered into the apartment. Shade just sat up on the bed, the bed sheet wrapped around her to hide her naked body. Finnick was glad to see that her hair was messed up and her makeup was smeared.

"Oh, please. Are you sure I can't keep her longer? She was wonderful last night..." He beamed back at her and the woman could only wrap the sheet around her more tightly. "Completely worth the money I spent."

"It's time to go." One of the Peacekeepers stuck his head into the doorway. She slowly got up and reached down to pick up her bra, still holding the sheet to her chest.

She stepped off the bed, letting her eyes wonder about the room before she only shrugged. She also crossed the room to pick up her discarded coat before risking Finnick a playful glance and disappearing into the bathroom.

Finnick, or rather, Mr. Jacobson, just turned back to the Peacekeepers, a lazy grin on his face. It wasn't long before Shade emerged from the bathroom, her coat placed back upon her shoulders, covering her still partially naked body.

She also stepped into her high heels that were also discarded beside the bed, a smug smirk on her face as she walked towards Finn-Mr. Jacobson. However, as she walked towards him, Finnick found something in his pantie-free pocket that would only seal the deal to prove that he had a romantic and wild night night with Miss Matson.

As she approached him, Mr. Jacobson turned to face her. Reaching out to her, he wrapped a possessive arm about her waist. Rolling the item he found in his pocket around in his mouth, he came to have it rest between his front teeth. Shade only looked at the sugar cube for a moment before her heartbeat began to rise in her chest. Prove to them that you had sex with this man... She thought to herself.

Leaning forward, she pressed her lips against Finnick's own pair. The two shared a kiss, their lips moving together for a moment. Using what she had learned from Cato, she licked his bottom lip and he opened his mouth, the sugar cube passing between their lips until it was in her own mouth.

Pulling back the two gazed into the other's eyes before she crunched the sugar cube, a sly smirk appearing on her face.

"Mr. Jacobson, you are just two sweet." She purred before Finnick pressed another quick kiss to her lips before he released her.

"I would say the same for you, Miss Matson, however, I don't think sweet is the right adjective." He purred right back before he reached into his pocket and drew out her panties. Waving them around in her face, she smirked before taking them and putting them into her coat pocket.

The awaiting Peacekeepers just shifted uncomfortably.

"Until we meet again, my love." He said in his fake Capitol accent before letting out a woeful sigh of longing.

Letting the Peacekeepers take formation around her, she could only smirk as she walked down the hall, still keeping her slutty character up, for both her and Cato's sake.

He had been lying on her bed when he heard the elevator ding as it arrived on their floor and he was immediately up and about before he sprinted towards the living room.

Shade ran a hand over her face as she stepped from the elevator, a pair of heels in her hand. She knew that the questioning would begin soon and she was still mentally preparing herself.

"Shade..." Cato breathed as he felt relief wash over him as he took in her form walking barefoot across the marble flooring.

Shade looked up upon hearing his familiar voice and she also felt relief wash over her. Dropping her heels, she stalked towards him until they were both within an arm's reach.

Cato immediately snatched her and brought her to his chest. She also wrapped her arms around him, both of them reveling in each other's presence, glad to know that the other was alive and safe. His hand immediately flew up into her mess of golden locks and she just buried her face into his chest, trying to find comfort in his hulking form.

"I was so worried..." He whispered into her scalp, placing a kiss to the top of her head. "I thought Snow did something to you."

She let out a shuttering breath. "I'm fine." He heard the words spill from her lips, though they were greatly muffled.

"Where were you?" She grew silent for a moment, knowing that this was where the lying was to begin. She would have to lie to protect both herself and Cato. She slowly drew back from his chest as she prepared her answer.

"I-I was invited to an after-party with the rest of the models. I was also supposed to give the people the items they bid on or that's tradition anyway. I would have come back to the apartment but I fell asleep on one of the couches in the lounge and I woke up this morning to an empty party hall." She lied easily, surprised at how quickly the words seemed to spill from her lips.

Cato just looked into her eyes, finding her answer to be sincere. Or at least, as sincere as she could make herself seem. She waited with baited breath for Cato's answer and was pleased with her wonderful lying skills when she felt his hands move to her face to bring her lips to his. She could only kiss him back, finding that she preferred his kiss to Finnick's, though, she would never tell Cato that.

Their lips moved easily against each other, Cato's large hands carefully holding her face to his. He was just so glad to have her back. He truly had been worried for her. It was never a good sign when someone disappeared in the Capitol.

The two only kissed a moment longer, rather wanting to hold each other instead. They only parted when she finally feigned that she needed more sleep and declared that she needed to shower in order to rid her body of all the Capitol grime that had accumulated throughout the events of the party.

Locking the bathroom door behind her, she could finally release a breath of relief, knowing that she didn't have to lie at the current moment. She always felt so guilty for lying to Cato and she could almost feel as though he knew she were lying.

When she first entered the Games, Shade was a girl who lied to save her own life. And now, she was the girl who had to lie to save the one she loved.

The train ride had been nearly silent the entire time, both Victors now seated in the luxury car upon the wondrous train that belonged to District 2.

Shade and Cato were seated across from one another on the twin sofas. Cato was lying down, perfectly relaxed, while Shade leaned back against the cushions as she tried to organize her muddled thought process.

She only sat forward on the sofa where she had been resting once they passed through one of the huge walls that had been built around the Districts to keep them separated.

Seeing the men on high alert as they passed by, a variety of what appeared to be military trucks also rolled around, patrolling the area for any rebels that happened to slip through their defenses.

Of in the distance, Shade could easily see the towering mountains in the distance and her memory immediately called to mind how Cato had described District 2, telling her of the tales of the mining industry and his adventures in said mountains.

"We're here." His voice echoed throughout the luxurious car, causing her to jump and scarring her out of her thought process. She hadn't even realized that the train had stopped.

Swallowing nervously, Shade rose from the sofa and wordlessly followed Cato to the door. The both of them had already been prepped ahead of time so they were dressed and ready to be presented to the public.

She was dressed in a long sleeved dress. The base of her dress was a shimmering black, as were the sleeves, but they were sheer. On her feet, Sterling had placed another set of gloriously high heels and she wanted to kill her stylist for his ridiculous ideas. He had also warned her that it would be chilly in 2 yet that did nothing for her nerves when she saw that the dress was ridiculously short as well.

Cato himself was dressed in a pair of white dress pants and a charcoal gray button up that hugged his figure nicely. He looked completely comfortable whereas Shade had to pull her dress down every five minutes in hopes of keeping her rear end covered.

Of course, the Capitol would be broadcasting it all across Panem. The people wanted to see their new Victors and that's what the Capitol would give them. So of course they had to look their best. Hopefully, it would be the last time for awhile.

They came to stand before the sliding door beside one another. Shade couldn't help but look up at Cato as she felt his warm hand engulf her's.

Also turning to look at her, blue met hazel and in the deep pools of her eyes, Cato could see the worry. She was scared that the people of 2 wouldn't welcome her.

Hell, he himself was scared that they wouldn't welcome her. She was an outsider. Sure, people came to and from District 2 all the time, considering that they trained Peacekeepers from all across the various Districts.

However, she was coming into their home as a Victor. Not on a Victory Tour itself. Not on a visit. She was coming to stay. She was a criminal, one might call her. She was supposed to die in the Games but she didn't.

She was a false Victor.

She had killed some of their own. She had murdered their Victors. People who were part of their District.

Carefully pulling her hand from his, Shade reached up and carefully straightened the golden crown upon his head, seeing as how it had tilted slightly when he had been lying down only minutes before.

Once the crown was straightened, she let a small smile tug at her pink lips, her thumb also gently tracing across Cato's forehead in an affectionate manner before it traced down his cheek.

"Ready?" He asked also reaching up to make sure that her crown was also perfectly straight as it sat upon her now straight hair, which had been a request upon Cato's part. He liked her hair straight due to the fact that it was so soft and ran through his fingers easily.

She took a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself. "As ready as I'll ever be..." She smiled slightly again before their fingers intertwined together and they faced back towards the door. Pushing the button beside the exit, the doors opened with a hiss.

Chilled air immediately hit the skin of her face, causing her once slightly dropping eyes to open. The small breeze was also cold on her bare legs and she shivered slightly from it. But that wasn't the entire reason.

The moment her eyes adjusted to the great change in light, she immediately focused on the large crowd gathered before them. As the two Victors stepped into sight, the crowd then cheered, calling Cato's name in victorious triumph. The aforementioned Victor beamed like mad, pulling his crown off his head and raising it in into the air as a sign of victory.

This only caused the crowd to cheer louder, having welcomed home one of their tributes, knowing that having four well trained participants in the Games would get them at least one winner.

He left as a boy but returned as a man.

Shade herself only stood stalk still, her hazel eyes wide as she took in the sheer number of people gathered below. There hadn't even been that many people for Peeta and Katniss's return in the previous year.

But in 2, the Games were everything.

Cato, feeling Shade's grip on his hand grow ever tighter, looked down at the girl by his side, seeing the awestruck yet horrified look in her eyes at the same time.

Raising their intertwined hands into the air, another wave of cheer went about the crowd. Off to the side, a group of boys Cato had trained with in the Academy let loose loud cat calls and whistles in their direction, causing Cato to chuckle and wave away their antics.

He then turned to face her again and he genuinely smiled at her and after a moment, her lips raised every so slightly. Soon, thousands of flowers began to be thrown at them, landing around their feet and nearly blanketing the train platform.

However, he was a bit distracted, his eyes searching for a few choice people in the crowd. He spotted them a few rows back, right in the center of the crowd.

Smiling widely, Cato led her off the train and down the steps, stepping down onto the cement platform before he placed his hands on Shade's waist and eased her down so she was on the same level as he was.

The crowd parted through them as they walked through, most of the people reaching out and touching the Victors.

Because in the Academy, a student was always taught that they fought for their District. That they fought for both themselves and the people at home. They were the embodiment of the people as they represented their District in the Games.

Shade could only peer around Cato's thick form as he stopped suddenly in the middle of the large crowd. They were standing before what appeared to be a family and Shade didn't even have to guess who it was, judging from the look Cato was giving them.

A young girl stood at the very front of the family, her mother's arms hung around her shoulders. Next to the older woman stood an impossibly tall man, the same height as Cato. He had his arm wrapped around the woman's waist, his other hand resting on his daughter's shoulder. Beside the mother stood another tall man, no, boy, and in his arms he held a little girl who was sucking on her thumb.

"Cat!" The little girl suddenly squeaked as she leaned out of her older brother's arms toward Cato, her tiny and slobbered hand reaching for him.

He immediately released Shade's hand and lunged towards the group, letting them wrap their arms around the missing member of their family. However, she noticed that the father stayed off to the side more, his green eyes seeming to scrutinize his son before moving onto her.

A few cries came from the huddle of people. Cato had his large arms wrapped around his family, his height overpowering all of them, all though the second blonde boy also seemed to be grow and would without a doubt reach the same height as his brother. A few minutes passed as the family clutched onto their lost member before they eventually released them, only for Cato to come away with the little girl hanging from his thick neck, beaming like mad.

"Oh, my baby. All grown up..." The woman who she guessed to be Cato's mother sobbed. Her other son hugged her.

"Nice of you to make it back this year, bro." The son replied as the mother cried into her son's chest. Cato could only frown slightly before reaching out and lightly smacking the younger boy on the head.

The older of the two girls simply stood there, staring up at Cato expectantly. He only bent down onto her level before she could no longer resist and gave him a tight hug.

"Who da?" The little girl on his shoulder suddenly squeaked, pulling her saliva covered hand from her mouth to point at his co-Victor. The blonde boy just turned to look back at Shade before he reached out for her to take his hand.

Hesitating momentarily, the District 12 Tribute stepped forward to stand before the family.

"Everyone, I want you to meet-"

"Shade Matson. District 12 Victor. You won the Quarter Quell with my brother. I saw you on TV." The young blonde girl stepped forward and spoke up, completely cutting Cato off who only huffed in annoyance and rolled his eyes.

"Yes, thank you, Emily. This is Shade, my co-Victor." He pulled her to his side, wrapping his arm around her waist. The family said nothing as they watched the scene unfold. Thanks to the events that occurred in the Arena and during the Interviews, they were very aware of the fact that Shade was more than just his co-Victor. "Shade, this is my family." He motioned to them all and once again, Shade's eyes flickered to the man she assumed was Cato's father. He was just glaring at both her and his son. It didn't help with making her comfortable at all.

"These are my parents, Roman and Saffra." The mother pulled away from her other son to smile a teary smile in her direction. She stepped away from him and before Shade knew what was happening, she was being hugged. The blonde woman's arms wrapped tightly around Shade and the girl could only stand there for a moment before slowly placing her arms around the woman.

"Thank you for taking care of my little boy..." She whispered into Shade's ear before pulling back.

"It was no problem, Mrs. Hadley." She replied quietly, her cheeks blazing as she felt as though she were the complete center of attention.

"And that punk is my little brother, Colt." The blonde boy stepped forward, a very familiar, yet slightly dorky smirk on his face.

"That stunt with the butcher knife? Amazing. I have to give you points for that on style." He grinned as he also hugged her and Shade could only stand there stock still. Sensing that Shade was uncomfortable talking about the arena, his brother smacked him slightly upside the head. It wasn't okay to talk about it yet.

"Don't mind him. He's just an ass..." Cato muttered to her, loud enough so that his brother could hear.

"Hey!"

"This is my younger sister, Emily."

"Are you two going to get married?" She asked and Shade went pale from the question. Cato himself also fell quiet, whereas Colt cracked up and Mrs. Hadley shushed her child and told her that those questions weren't appropriate to ask someone you just met.

"And this little ball of energy..." Cato struggled to hold the littlest in his arms, the girl insisting to struggle in his grasp. "... is Jayne!" He grunted as he received a tiny sized shoe to the face when the toddler turned upside down in his arms.

"It's wonderful to meet you in person, dear!" Mrs. Hadley said as she beamed at the blonde girl who still felt very uncomfortable. "And you're even more pretty in person!"

"Thank you, Mrs. Hadley..." She replied quietly before silence settled over the group and the air became thick with awkward tension.

And it finally got so thick that the youngest Hadley brother decided to speak, scratching his neck as he pondered over which subject to bring up in hopes of striking conversation again. "So, have you showed her the house yet?"

Sorry guys. It's been a while. I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in like a bijillion years. I've been very busy with other stories and this one was really just pushed to the back of my mind... until now.

Because of the simple fact that I went to see Catching Fire this weekend. And OMG. It was brilliant.

And I just have to say, Finnic's dimples are so cute. They make me want to squeeze his little cheeks. And you know what? I'm thinking of writing a Finnick/OC story after my other stories calm down.

Now, that might actually take some time, considering I'm doing a lot of re-writing. I'm basically redoing my entire Thor/OC before I can even start on the third installment with Sam in it.

It makes me really depressed.

But again, sorry about this chapter. It's not very exciting. She does get to meet his family though. And next chapter we get to explore the house and a few other fun bits!

So, stay tuned and review guys! Thanks again!

Love,

Blue
