Chapter 27

The next day, I got ready for another day of the Ouran Fair. However, my mood was at an all time low after Tamaki's announcement yesterday. Mum looked at me with sadness in her eyes and said "Are you sure you don't want any breakfast?"

I nodded slowly, "No thanks. Well I'm off then."

Before I could leave my mum quickly said "Maria. I may not know Tamaki as well as you...but I doubt that what he is doing is his own choice. Just remember Maria, you have to stay brave even if it seems like your world is crumbling around you sometimes."

I nodded and left for school. When I got there Tamaki was no where to be seen and everyone else was entertaining the guests. I put on my best smile and served drinks to the other customers when I heard Kyoya say "Haruhi, someone to see you."

I turned and saw Haruhi sitting with Lady Eclair. I watched from afar as Hunny asked "I wonder what happened to Tama-chan."

Hikaru frowned "I'm getting worried. Something's up with him after what he said yesterday."

After a moment of silence Kyoya clasped his hands together, "All right gentlemen, no more idle chatter. Our guests are waiting for us."

Kaoru growled "Senpai, it's like you don't even care."

Kyoya quickly stated "It's our job to take care of our guests to the best of our abilities. Remember, they're looking to all of us to entertain them. Their happiness is the utmost importance."

Hunny nodded and started dragging Kaoru away, "He's right, Kao-chan!"

Kaoru struggled slightly "Honey senpai, what are you doing?!"

Mori picked up Hikaru with ease and put on over his shoulder, "Come on, Hikaru."

Hikaru moaned "Let go, Mori senpai."

They went off and Kyoya beconed me over to Haruhi after Lady Eclair left. Kyoya then weakly smiled "Thank you for all of your hard work, Haruhi. After that request from Lady Eclair, your debt has been paid. You finally repaid us for that Renaissance vase you broke. So you are free to quit the Host Club, if you want."

My eyes widened in shock as I turned to him, "Does that mean..."

Kyoya nodded "You have also managed to pay back the debt, Maria."

Haruhi and I stared at each other in disbelief when Kyoya's father walked past us and suddenly stopped, "When they're young, many assume they have all the time in the world, really. That is never the case. Don't waste your time with something that will ultimately have no value."

I growled at what he said and shouted to him as he began walking away, "You don't know anything about the Host Club. Kyoya senpai works around the clock to make sure that everyone here is enjoying themselves. And did you ever stop to think that entertaining others might give each of us some fulfillment? How can you possibly say that what we do here is just a waste of our time? I don't care what you say. I think Kyoya senpai is amazing!"

Kyoya's father did not turn back but continued walking away after pausing for a moment. I turned to Kyoya who was staring at me in complete shock. Haruhi smiled "You took the words right out of my mouth."

I smiled, "I don't care who he is. I won't let him talk bad about Kyoya in front of me...or at all for that matter."

Kyoya smiled fondly at me and I couldn't help but blush.

Evening arrived quickly and we got changed into very 19th century styled clothing. Haruhi and I were wearing dresses while the others wore suits.

Haruhi asked "Kyoya senpai, what's with this outfit?"

Hikaru quickly replied "We told you, it's a costume for the special parade."

Hunny squealed in delight "You look so cute, Haru-chan!"

Kaoru turned to Kyoya and asked "Well?"

Kyoya shook his head as he put down his phone from his ear, "No luck. He's not there."

Haruhi frowned "I can't believe senpai didn't show. I really thought he was gonna make it despite what she said."

Kyoya paused for a moment and dialed his phone again and pressed it to his ear, "Hello Shima? Been a while, hasn't it? It's Kyoya."

We eargly waited for Kyoya to say something positive when suddenly he cried "How could he be so stupid?" He held his hand over the speaker and stated "Evidently, Tamaki is planning to return to France."

We all stared in disbelief as Hunny cried "Tama-chan is going to leave us?!"

Hikaru growled angrily, "You're kidding me! They can't just end it so suddenly!"

Kyoya started speaking to the lady again and asked hastily,"Do you know when he's leaving, Shima?...Why is he leaving so soon?"

His eyes suddenly windened as Tamaki's car started driving away form the school. "Tamaki!" Kyoya cried.

"Tama-chan!" Hunny wailed.

"No way!" Kaoru yelled.

"The Ouran Fair isn't even over yet!" Hikaru stated.

Kyoya started leaving and said "My family's car should be in the parking lot! Haruhi, let's go!"

Haruhi snapped out of her daze and we all ran to the parking lot. As soon as we got there Kyoya went to the drivers side and stated "We're in a hurry. Can you drive us?"

The driver looked at him with a sorrow filled expression, "I'm sorry sir, but..."

Kyoya asked "What is it? What's wrong?"

The driver stammered "Well you see, the thing is..."

Kyoya suddenly stood up and without looking he said "Do you want to tell me your orders? Let me guess. You've been hired to protect lady Eclair."

Kyoya's private army was standing in front of us as one man said "I'm truly sorry it has come to this, but as you know, as members of the Otori Private Police, we answer to your Father."

Kyoya raised his fist and slammed it into the car, leaving a nasty dent "Damn it!"

Hikaru and Kaoru stood in front of Haruhi to protect her and Kyoya stood firmly by my side. The officer said "I'm terribly sorry sir, but we've been ordered not to allow any of you to leave, even if we have to stop you by force."

The sound of a carriage suddenly come to our ears and it abruptly stopped in front of us, causing some of the soldiers to jump back from harms way.

Mori held the reigns to Hikaru "Hikaru, take the carriage. If you use the back hills bypass, you can cut them off."

One officer stated in fear "It's Haninozuka."

"And Morinozuka." Another shouted.

The twins climbed on and Hikaru held out his hand to Haruhi "Come on!"

Haruhi stood still, unsure what to do when Kyoya suddenly gripped her shoulders "Haruhi, go get that idiot."

He pushed her onto the carriage and pointed to the exit "Hurry! Now go! This is your chance!"

I shouted to Haruhi "Go! We'll hold these guys off!"

The officer shouted as the carriage started moving "Don't get stand there! Stop that carriage!"

The soldiers tried to run after it but Hunny flipped in front of them, preventing them from moving. "Takashi, don't go easy on them!"

Mori, who was already fighting stated "Don't worry, I won't!"

Kyoya held me against the pillar and stated "Stay here."

I tried to object but he already ran off to help Hunny and Mori. Like hell I will... As Kyoya was disposing the unconscious bodies on of the soldiers crept up to Kyoya. I ran towards Kyoya and grabbed his shoulders, turning him around while my leg kicked the guy that was sneaking up on him.

Kyoya looked at me in shock as I smiled "Hunny taught me that move."

A few minutes later a huge pile of the beaten up soldiers was there before us. Hunny waggled his finger "I warned you guys, picking on my friends is big no-no!"

Kyoya raised his eyebrow and folded his arms "You should never underestimate the Ouran Host Club."

Mori simply nodded "Yeah."

I smiled slightly as I saw a look of concern on Kyoya's face. I squeezed his hand a smiled weakly "They'll get him back."

3rd person POV

Tamaki sat silently in Eclair's car, feeling depressed and sad that he had to leave like this...that he had to leave at all.

Eclair smirked "What's the matter, Tamaki? You haven't said a word since we left. You're a host, aren't you? Come on. Entertain me."

Tamaki whispered back to her "I have a question. Are you sure about this? Are you really happy to marry to me, or are you just following orders?"

Suddenly, the sound of a carriage was heard from behind them and Haruhi was driving it as fast as she could. Tamaki stood up in shock "Haruhi!"

Eclair stared in disbelief "That's Haruhi Fujioka?"

The carriage had gotten alongside the car and Tamaki shouted "What are you doing, Haruhi?! This is dangerous! Stop the carriage, now!"

Haruhi shouted back "Senpai! Please come back to Ouran!"

Tamaki continued to shout, "I mean it! Stop the carriage!"

Haruhi cried back to her friend "All of us have completely lost without you, senpai!"

Tamaki stared in shock and whispered "But they... they also said they were put out by the host club."

Haruhi scoffed "You really are an idiot! What's wrong with you!? After all this time we've been together, you still can't tell if we're joking or we're serious!? Everyone loves being in the host club! We really do! Even me, senpai. Even Maria! We love being in the part of the host club, too!"

Tamaki's eyes windened. He couldn't believe how stupid he had been...they really did care about the club. The carriage started to violently sway and Haruhi was flung out of the carriage.

"Haruhi!" Tamaki shouted.

He tried to go after her but Eclair held his leg. He looked down at her, she was hesitant but slowly let go. Tamaki smiled "Thanks, Eclair."

He leaped out of the car and fell towards Haruhi, "Haruhi!"

Haruhi reached her hand out to him, "Senpai!"

Their hands connected and they looked at each other for a minute. Tamaki embraced her and a second later Haruhi hugged him back. They both splashed into the water and swam to shore.

Tamaki carried her bridal style and said "That was reckless, Haruhi. You have to be more careful. Look, you're here soaking wet."

Tamaki sat her down onto a rock and Haruhi smiled "A little water never hurt anyone. Besides, people are always telling me that I'm dripping with good looks."

Tamaki smiled at the familiar line as Hunny's voice suddenly yelled "Tama-chan! Haru-chan!"

The twins ran up to them, "Hey boss!"

Kyoya sighed in relief and shifted his glasses "Oh man, he's such a moron."

Maria's POV

I smiled in relief and ran up to Tamaki and Haruhi. I hugged them both with all the strength I had, "I'm so glad you guys are okay! And if you ever try to leave again Tamaki I will kill you."

Tamaki squealed in delight "Oh my little princess was worried about me how cute!"

I rolled my eyes and smiled. The whole gangs together again. I then suddenly realised "Oh yeah...don't we have to finish the Ouran Fair today?"

Everyone's eyes widened and quickly got into Kyoya's car.

Night time covered the sky and everyone was dancing the waltz. I stood as the sideline first, not wanting to dance when Hunny suddenly pulled my arm and started dancing with me. I smiled and laughed as I was then passed onto Mori, who gracefully spun me around like I was a feather.

I danced with Hikaru, who had broken his right arm and was now in a sling. I asked "Is your arm okay?"

He nodded "It should be fine, Kyoya's doctors said it should be healed within 6 weeks."

I nodded and was passed onto Kaoru. He smiled at me gently "You look lovely, Maria."

I smiled "Thank you, you're not too bad yourself."

He chuckled suddenly Tamaki tapped me on the shoulder, "May I have this next dance?"

I nodded "Of course you can." He gently took my hand and we gently moved to the music. I'm so glad he's back...I do hope Haruhi and Tamaki end up together.

Before I knew it Kyoya had taken my hands and Haruhi was dancing with Tamaki, smiling a smile I had never seen before. I looked back to Kyoya and blushed "Oh yeah, what did you want from your winning of the bet?"

He looked at me confused, "Bet? The one we made in Karuizawa?"

I nodded "Yeah, you never told me what I had to do for you."

Kyoya smirked and whispered into my ear "In that case...you will come with me to a meal in a top restaurant. No objections."

I smiled widely, "Sounds fair to me."

The fireworks suddenly coloured the sky in a multitude of colours and Kyoya squeezed my hand gently. I gently squeezed back as the Ouran High School Host Club watched the fireworks.

This was the strangest, weirdest thing I've ever done...but I would not change a single moment.
