Author's Notes: A very happy birthday to my darling, adored daughter, Yellowtail555, who requested for her birthday present to be Lily Luna/Scorpius without smut. Sadly, I'm afraid it also turned out to be Lily Luna/Scorpius without much Scorpius, but I hope that it will still be enjoyable nonetheless.

It's never easy being the youngest.

That was what people told Lily all the time – her parents, her aunts, her uncles, her cousins, her teachers, her friends. Anyone who knew that Lily had any problems at all was quick to pin the blame on her age. After all, the youngest are the ones who are easily forgotten, treated less than their age, the ones who need to act out to get attention.

When they said that, Lily would smile and nod and try not to roll her eyes until they weren't looking at her anymore, because she knew that her age had nothing to do with it. If she had been the eldest in her family, she still would have behaved exactly as she did and gone out and fallen in love with Scorpius Malfoy.

When Lily had told her parents that she'd be going out to Diagon Alley one afternoon with Scorpius, Ginny had fallen into a fit of laughter, convinced that it was a joke, and Harry had stared at Lily with a perplexed expression as he tried to work out what she was saying.

"Scorpius Malfoy, Lily?" Harry asked tentatively. "Draco Malfoy's son?"

"Yes."

There hadn't been a fight, not exactly – her parents weren't the sort to yell at her over who she decided to go about with – but everything had been different since then. They had regarded her warily, almost as if they were afraid that, at any moment, her wiry red hair, streaked with green, would turn sleek and Malfoy-blonde and that she would run away to join the Death Eaters, as if she could have if she wanted to.

And then they tried to blame her sullen behaviour on her being the youngest when she stopped wanting to have anything to do with them.
