Chapter 9: Alpha Rage
Becoming Alpha
Chapter 9: Alpha Rage
A/N: I do not own Teen Wolf; I also have no BETA so please excuse any mistakes.
Stiles always knew that he was going to do something important with his life, and not just because his mother said so. He always had this feeling, like this itch under his 4skin that told him he was meant for something….something fantastic! Scott would laugh at him whenever he used to mention it to the boy so Stiles had given up trying to convince his supposed best friend he was meant for greatness. Looking around him now, Stiles knew this was the beginning of that fantastic thing he was meant for.
Jackson lounged on the leather couch in the living room and was chatting excitedly with Danny about his new werewolf powers. Isaac sat on the armchair next to the couch and just laughed at the appropriate places, content to be included and accepted. Stiles sat on the other couch with Danny, also listening amusedly to Jackson's and Danny's happy chatter. He had not been this content since…well since his mother had died. The realization made him startle and all eyes went to him in worry. He shrugged it off with a goofy grin and the others went back to talking happily.
"So, Stiles, what kind of pack members are you going to be looking for?" Danny asked suddenly, all eyes turning to Stiles in question.
"Uh, well I hadn't thought about it too much yet but I am hoping for people who….well who need us to be family. I want this pack to be all about acceptance and love; I want a family, not an army." The others nodded at his answer, seeming to accept it.
"Well guys, I think we should turn in for the night. I don't know about you guys but I am exhausted."As if his body was agreeing with him a yawn made him stretch himself fluidly and stand from his seated position. "Jax, where are the bedrooms? We should probably do the room assigning now so that no one fights later."
Stiles looked at his pack members and saw they all looked a little nervous at something he had said. He felt one eyebrow go up and watched as their faces changed to embarrassed then to guilty.
"Okay guys…what's up? What did I do wrong?" Stiles felt a headache in the back of his brain building and just wished for sweet sweet sleep.
"Well…" Isaac started hesitantly. "You said room assignments? Does that mean I can't sleep with you anymore?" Isaac's eyes stayed on the floor and Stiles felt his heart clinch.
"What? Isaac, of course that's not what I meant! You're always welcome to sleep with me! That's not going to change just because I'm an Alpha now. I just meant everyone can choose a room to decorate the way they wanted and put their stuff in." Stiles smiled warmly at the cowed boy and was rewarded with a bright smile and brilliant eye contact.
The other two boys continued to look at the floor and Stiles was once again puzzled. Why was everyone being so strange?
"Guys, anything else Stiles is missing? Cause I'm kind of confused why you are looking at the ground sadly when I'm right here. What's up?" Stiles could hear the slight aggravation in his voice and took a deep breath. "I just, I don't know what's wrong if you don't tell me?" Danny and Jackson looked at one another then Danny shrugged.
"It's just…we were wondering if…That is…Canwesleepwithyoutoo?" Danny said it all in such a rush that Stiles just blinked at him for a second. "That is…can we sleep…with you too?" Danny repeated slower and with more blushing.
Stiles stared at them blankly for a second and then burst out laughing. The three boys looked at one another in concern then went back to staring at their hysterical Alpha. Stiles slowly calmed down gasping for breath.
"Guys, of course you can sleep with me. The invitation isn't just for Isaac, we're pack and if you want to sleep with me who am I to complain? Besides I like to cuddle so the more cuddle partners the better right?" All his Beta's nodded happily and Jackson proceeded to lead them upstairs to the bedrooms.
Stiles had fully intended for everyone to pick out a room and then they converge on whatever room Stiles picked after bathroom necessities. What actually happened was the first bedroom they walked in, which happened to be the master suite, Stiles was immediately drawn to the king size bed in the center of the room. He didn't remember falling on it and promptly passing out but that is apparently what happened. Jackson smiled at the boy passed out on the bed fondly before removing his shoes and making him more comfortable on the bed.
"You really do love him don't you?" Isaac's voice was timid but not afraid.
Jackson turned to look at his two closest friends, now pack mates, and looked back at his Alpha fondly.
"Yeah, I do. I'm not really sure when it happened or if I always have been but…I do love him. I can't stand it when anyone but pack touches him, just the thought of Derek coming here…I can't even think straight." Jackson sighed and smiled at his friends. "Well we'll just have to worry about that when it happens I guess."
"You mean if it happens." Danny inserted.
"No, I mean when. Derek has never been the poster child for control, do you really think he is just going to sit around and wait for Stiles to want him? His wolf is going to want Stiles constantly and eventually Derek isn't going to deny it anymore. He'll come to claim Stiles whether he wants it or not. I'm not sure what Stiles plans on doing when that happens but I know he's already thought about the inevitability of that happening. He knows just as well as I do that Derek is many things, but patient is not one of them. Derek also craves power and that's why he'll come for Stiles even sooner then he would otherwise. Stiles is powerful, I can smell it on him, feel it in the pack bond." Jackson's eyes flashed cobalt blue and his jaw clinched. "I know Stiles could beat Derek in a fight, after he gains some more experience, but I'm not sure he'll want to fight. If he sees Derek he may have no choice but to say yes, his wolf will be demanding it. I just don't want Derek to gain Stiles only for his power and not because he cares for him at all."
Danny looked at his best friend, saw the way his eyes watched Stile's face in his sleep, saw the boys fists clinch at any mention of Derek and came to a conclusion.
"Don't worry Jackson, Stiles is strong, not just as a wolf but as a person. He won't accept Derek as his mate unless Derek cares for him. Knowing Stiles he will try and do whatever he thinks will benefit us the most and that's where we have to be careful. If he thinks that by being Derek's mate that he can keep us safer he will." Jackson snarled at Danny, his incisors growing sharp in anger.
Danny held up placating hands and continued. "We have to make sure that we are strong enough that when Derek does come Stiles won't think he has to be Derek's mate. We have to make a strong pack to protect out Alpha from himself."
Danny nodded as he felt Isaac and Jackson watching him, their wheels also turning at his words.
"Danny has a point. If we can expand the pack quickly and have enough strong members' then Derek won't be able to take Stiles by force or manipulate him into being his mate. I know we weren't thrilled at the idea of new pack members so soon but I think we should start looking immediately so that we can protect Stiles." Isaac's eyes shone with determination as they met the equally determined eyes of his pack mates.
The search for new pack members would start far sooner than their Alpha expected, they would find new members and make them strong. They would love Stiles, who wouldn't, and they would make them strong. Once they were strong and loyal they would be safer, their Alpha would be safer. Having a plan the boys crawled into the bed to cuddle their Alpha, who even in sleep put his arms protectively around anyone he could reach. Pack Stilinski fell into dreamless sleeps, feeling safe and happy for the first time in a long time.
-A week later-
Isaac looked at the teenagers in the coffee shop with a scowl on his face. A week they had been in Denver, a week, and they had yet to find a single person to join their pack. They had been looking but Stiles was very specific in his criteria and it was proving more difficult than any of the Betas had imagined. Stiles wanted people who had nowhere to go, who had no one to turn to. He wanted people who would appreciate the opportunity for a new family, a new life.
Isaac sighed heavily and banged his head on the small table he sat at. It was harder than they had expected to find people who needed to be taken in that weren't so emotionally messed up they were practically institutional levels of crazy.
A vibration from his pocket had Isaac lifting his head and removing his new cell phone from his pocket. Stiles smiling face lit up his screen and he answered with a smile and a chipper 'Alpha!' and heard Stiles breathing on the other line but nothing else.
"Stiles?" Isaac asked in worry. Hoping his Alpha wasn't in trouble.
"Isaac, I need you to listen to me very carefully." Stiles voice was a soft whisper and Isaac swallowed down his fear to listen. "I am going to text you some coordinates, I need you to get Jax and Danny and meet me here as soon as you can! I found some potential members but they need our help, Hurry!" After that the line went dead and Isaac was already sprinting from the coffee shop and heading towards Jackson's Porsche.
He went nearly 120 mph the entire way to the house and when he got there Jackson and Danny were already outside waiting, having sensed his distress from the bond. Isaac felt down the bond to his Alpha and felt only…rage? Danny and Jackson were in the car before he could parse out more from the bond and questions were flying at him.
"Guys, I don't really know what's going on either. Stiles called me and told me to get you guys and hurry to the location he texted me, he said he found some potential pack members but they needed help. I don't know what kind of help or what with but Stiles was whispering on the phone and all I feel from him is…rage through the bond. Can you guys try to feel something else from him while I drive?" Danny and Jackson both closed their eyes and concentrated on their pack bond to their Alpha while Isaac drove to the location Stiles was at.
"I feel a lot of anger and some…sorrow as well?" Danny eyes were still closed but it seemed that's all they would get from Stiles for the moment.
"We should be able to feel more once we get closer to him." Jackson's voice sounded more confident then he was feeling.
They drove for nearly ten minutes before they heard it, a roar was echoing through the trees, the air and the ground. Stiles rage was felt, his roar heard as they drove towards him. The rage in the roar turned them all to their Beta forms immediately and they were all ready for a fight, adrenaline in their veins. They pulled in front of an old barn with Stiles Jeep in front; no other houses in sight and felt their Alpha's rage inside. Jackson went to the doors first and pushed them open with a growl, Isaac and Danny right behind him. What they saw made them all pause in shock. Stiles was in the center of the open space fighting anywhere between fifteen and twenty of what had to be Hunters, or else angry humans with lots of weapons.
Stiles was running on pure rage and didn't realize that his pack was there yet, all he knew was that he had to save them, HE HAD TO SAVE THEM!
Danny watched in horror as Stiles took the Hunter's out one by one, in the 30 seconds that they had been frozen at the entrance he had already taken out six of the Hunter's, their blood wasn't even cool on the ground yet. Jackson was the first to snap out of it and he roared and charged at the Hunter's closest to him stabbing one between the shoulder blades with the claws on his hands. He fell without a word, dead at Jackson's feet. He didn't wait to hear or see the man fall however as he was already taking out a second hunter in quick succession.
Isaac and Danny shook off their surprise and also joined the fray. The Hunter's fell quickly under their hands but Stiles was truly something to behold. His rage made him nearly invisible to the human eye as he slashed at anything that moved. His eyes were the darkest crimson they had ever been and the Beta's stayed out of his way and picked off the ones that ran or tried to sneak up on their Alpha.
Three minutes after the three had entered the barn and all of the enemies were either dead or unconscious on the ground, most around Stiles' now still form.
Danny, Jackson and Isaac all watched their Alpha warily, not knowing if they could approach yet or not.
"Alpha?" A small female voice rang through the barn and Stiles head snapped up and zeroed in on the cage at the far end of the barn. Jackson squinted at the cage he hadn't noticed and saw two figures inside.
Stiles strode to the cage and put his hands on the bars, when he did so his skin began to smoke and burn. Stiles growled but did not remove his flesh from the burning metal; instead he gripped it tighter and roared as loud as he could. His body shook with the effort but they all heard the loud groaning sound as the metal gave way and the door was ripped from the large cage. Stiles threw the door carelessly away and stepped into the cage with no hesitation.
Isaac was the first to approach their Alpha and his companion's inside the cage so he was the first to see them. Stiles was crouched in front of a young girl cradling another unidentifiable person in their laps. She looked malnourished, bruised and broken; her dull amethyst eyes stared up into Stiles eyes with hope and adoration.
"Please, my brother, please help my brother!" Her voice was cracked and rough as if she had been screaming. Stiles moved his red eyes from hers and looked at the person in her lap, her brother apparently.
Isaac watched as Stiles reached out gentle arms and picked up the younger boy from his sisters tired and frail arms. Isaac couldn't help but let out a gasp of horror when Stiles looked the boy over. Stiles felt growl after growl trickle from deep in his chest while he looked the boy over. He was skin and bones with burns on most visible parts of skin, his right arm and hand were broken and his face was swollen, his eyes crusted shut.
"Can you walk?" Stiles voice was deep with rumbling but kind to the girl he addressed.
"I can try Alpha." She responded weakly and proceeded to try and stand only to topple immediately, caught by Stiles other arm.
"No matter." Stiles mumbled and proceeded to haul both siblings into his arms and turn towards the exit. The girl tried to protest but was shushed by their Alpha and told to rest, she was safe now. She nodded, tears slipping from tired eyes and she drifted to sleep in her saviors arms.
"Stiles…" Isaac's voice was timid and questioning. "Are you alright?"
Stiles turned to look at him and the others for the first time, his eyes were still crimson and blood covered his mouth and chin and was staining the neckline of his grey T-shirt.
"I'll let you know when we get home. We need to get these two some food and get them cleaned up." His voice still had an undertone of rumbling but seemed to be returning back to normal. Isaac nodded and they exited the building. Outside of the doors Stiles stopped and turned considering eyes to the barn.
"Burn it down Jax." With that he walked to his jeep and buckled the two youngsters in securely. Jackson watched Stiles for a moment before going to his Porsche. From the back he pulled a tank of gasoline and a lighter.
They all drove back home, the fire roaring into the sky behind them. Stiles eyes remained red the entire drive, eyes flicking constantly to the two passengers in his back seat.
