Code Lyoko Lives Chapter 6 Reloaded
March 12 2007 Original Supercomputer Lab.
"No,no,no! We don't have enough virtual matter or quibits to run that operation." Said Jeremy
"Jeremy come on, the virtual energy will compensate for the missing atomic mass!" Said Arik arguing with him.
"No absolutely not, if we make even one error in the program we could cause a cascade reaction within the Supercomputer's core processor! If that happens the quibit structure we've built up with all of the returns to the past will be null. The supercomputer will barely be any better then a 1990's desktop!" said Jeremy pointing out the simulation on his screen showing the theoretical collapse of the Supercomputer's core.
"Enough! Jeremy we need to at least try! Since you don't want to risk the main computer core we can run the program off of a tower on Lyoko. That would give it enough power while isolating it in case something goes wrong." Said Aelita breaking in to stop the two from arguing.
"That could work, sure. But with the amount of operations running in and out of virtual reality and reality any delay would be detrimental. The tower can't have any security on it slowing things down, which just leaves it open for Xana to attack." said Jeremy.
Aelita thought for a moment. "Arik how much processing power are you using in your tower?"
Arik paused and tilted her head to the side slightly checking the statistics within her tower. "I'm currently using around 4.56 percent of its full capacity to run my program." she said.
"So we have 95% of a tower to work with. It should be enough, and with the remnants of the Multi-agent system running outside of sector 5 we don't even need to worry about an anti Xana program. It will work!" Said Jeremy. He attacked the keyboard rapidly putting the finishing touches on the program they had been working on through the night. Aelita's Lyoko avatar appeared in the simulation window and Jeremy holding his breath ran the program through the tower in Sector 5 routing the changes it made into the simulation.
It took several moments for even the computational power of the quantum Supercomputer to run through the simulation but when it finished the screen flashed green showing a successful test.
"It works!" Said Aelita. She jumped up and down "I'll go to the scanner!" she said excitedly.
Jeremy turned around to face her. "What you want to try it now? Shouldn't I run some more tests make sure that everything is working right?" he said. He was hesitant to run it on Aelita even though the simulation had been green. Odd was usually the one to volunteer for new experiments.
"We need to see if this works Jeremy. We barely survived the last attack we need to have something ready for the next one." said Aelita.
Jeremy knew she was going to convince hm so he gave up. "Alright, but Arik go down their and pull the plug from the scanner if I tell you too."
Arik snapped to attention and saluted Jeremy. "Aye!"
Aelita and Jeremy glanced between one another but then Aelita shrugged and started towards the elevator. Arik was no more odd then Odd was.
"Just get into the scanner and I can start the procedure. If at any point something feels off tell me and I will abort the program." Said Jeremy through the intercom.
"OK Jeremy! Lets start." said Aelita. She stepped into the first scanner and tried to calm herself, this was no different then what she did on a regular basis in fact this program was safer her atomic structure was being scanned that was all. She wasn't even being converted into digital signals.
The scanner closed. Jeremy's voice came through the metal doors.
"Scanner Aelita
Process Aelita
Initialization!
The beams of light came up through the scanner and the wind blew up over Aelita's face. The process felt weird without the usual numbing effect the scanner laid over a subject while it was deconstructed. All it felt like was that every atom in her body were shivering. As quickly as it had started the program finished and the scanner doors opened. Aelita stepped out of the scanner and looked down at her wrist if the program had been successful then, it was their! Aelita lifted her right hand to look at the small silver bracelet that was affixed their seemingly fused to her skin the band didn't move an inch when she shook her arm.
"Jeremy" said Aelita slowly. "I think it worked!"
Odd groaned as Ulrich hit him over the head with a pillow.
"Odd come on time to get up!" Said Ulrich as he hit him over the head with the pillow again.
"Come on its 6 A.M. On a Saturday!" moaned Odd from under his pillow.
"Odd Jeremy wants us at the Factory." Said Ulrich. Giving up with the pillow he threw it back on his bunk and sat down.
"Fine, let me get some breakfast first..." Said Odd.
"No time Odd Jeremy wants us their now." Said Ulrich.
"Come on skipping meals isn't healthy!" moaned Odd again.
Rolling his eyes Ulrich grabbed Odd and started pulling him off of the bed. "I don't care Odd let's go."
Yumi quietly crept down out of her room. Her parents usually slept in on the weekends but her brother was unpredictable. Reaching the landing Yumi picked a notepad off of the counter and wrote out a quick not saying she was going to study with her friends. She left the location vague in case they decided to check. Her father was becoming more and more of a pain, always asking if she were going out with Ulrich. Silently exiting her house Yumi winced as she opened the gate, their was no avoiding the squeal as the unoiled and rusted metal grated against itself. Turning down the street she started her jog towards the Factory. She was crossing the bridge when the manhole cover popped open and Ulrich with a groggy Odd popped out of the sewer system.
"Yumi! Any idea what this is about?" asked Ulrich as he climbed out of the hole.
"No.:" said Yumi shaking her head. "I just got a call from Einstein this morning telling me to come to the factory to see something."
"Unless it's food I don't care." Said Odd. Theatrically he clutched at his stomach. "I'm dying here!"
The three of them walked the rest of the length of the bridge and swung down to the factory floor. Ulrich punched in the code for the elevator and they sank down towards the lab. When the Elevator door opened onto the lab floor neither Jeremy or Arik who were staring intently at the computer monitor noticed them.
Ulrich cleared his throat."Jeremy were here." he said.
Startled Jeremy whipped around "Oh sorry, Arik and I were going over the test data. The results are very promising." said Jeremy.
Yumi frowned. "What it the test Jeremy?" she asked.
"I didn't tell you?" Said Jeremy.
"No."
"Oh well its simple, we've created a program which by using a tower on Lyoko projects digital matter out into the real world and with feedback protocols allows willful interaction with the digital matter. With that set up I programmed it to project the characteristics of your Avatars onto your bodies here."
Ulrich, Odd, and Yumi stared back at him.
"It means we get to do this!" said Aelita who at that moment dropped own from the rafters, before anyone could move to catch her pink wings on her back flared open and Aelita floated gracefully to the floor. The wings on her back flared and disappeared.
Odd stared at the display "We get to use our Lyoko abilities on Earth? Like when we are teleported?" He asked.
Aelita nodded. "Yes, but with no time limit and its not a teleportation. Watch." She waved her hand over her other wrist, where a small metal bracelet sat.
Their was a flash of light and Aelita appeared as she did on Lyoko.
"The suit and everything else is made out of simulated matter, the supercomputer calculates and extrapolates where it should go based off of the bracelet and predictable range of motion calculations. Your still human underneath all of it so you can be hurt but this will definitely help us fight on Earth, about just as well as we do on Lyoko actually." said Aelita. She swiped her hand across the bracelet again and the Lyoko form disappeared, except for her ears they remained pointed and elf like.
"The ears Aelita?" Said Yumi pointing them out.
"That's what Arik and I are looking over. She shouldn't have any component of her Lyoko form when the bracelet is off." said Jeremy.
"I think it has to do with the fact hat Aelita has spent so much time on Lyoko. Her Lyoko armor is a subconscious projection of what she wants to be. Their could be bleed over to the real world when she thinks of herself she thinks of herself with pointed ears." Said Arik.
"I still think it's a bug. A minor one but a bug." Said Jeremy.
"Does this mean that the rest of us get those bands?" Said Odd eager to try it out.
"Yes. You can go down to the scanners when your ready. I have to do each of you separately so just use the first scanner. The calculations for the initial scan nearly max out the Supercomputer." said Jeremy.
The three Lyoko warriors walked into the elevator and went down to the scanner room. As the elevator doors opened Odd bolted out and into the scanner.
"I'm first Jeremy!" Said Odd.
Jeremy started the process, and the scanner doors closed around the grinning Odd. The room hummed with power and as quickly as it had begun the process ended. Odd stepped out of the scanner examining the silver wristband on his left arm.
"How does it work?" Asked Odd shacking the bracelet to try and get it to activate.
Aelita dropped down where the ladder was, and swiped her bracelet before she hit the floor her wings appearing just in time to stop her fall. "Just swipe it Odd." Said Aelita as she glided over to him.
Odd ran his hand across the bracelet and his Lyoko form shimmered into existence around him.
"Cool!" he said. Turning Odd jumped up towards the wall and extending his claws latched onto the wall. Cocking his laser arrows he quickly aimed at and shot a laser arrow at Ulrich's feet.
Ulrich jumped back and swore. "Odd!" he shouted at him.
Odd shrugged. "That was for waking me up early, and not letting us stop for breakfast." he said.
As the two continued to argue Yumi stepped into the scanner. "Jeremy?" She said towards the intercom.
"Right starting it now." Said Jeremy.
The scanner closed and once more the machinery hummed, the lights in the room flickered slightly. The scanner reopened and Yumi stepped out, the same small metal bracelet seemingly infused to her skin. Holding it out for a moment Yumi examined it and then quickly swiped across the face. Her Lyoko form materialized around her. Spinning around Yumi quickly drew out a fan and threw it up into the air watching it fly around the scanners and back to her hand.
"Everything good?" asked Jeremy from the control room.
"We're good Jeremy." Said Aelita.
"Ulrich your up!" Said Jeremy.
Nodding Ulrich stepped into the scanner. Taking a deep breath as the doors closed Ulrich closed his eyes and waited for the process to finish. The scanning rings slowly passed over him and for a moment his left wrist felt hot but otherwise everything went normally. Stepping out of the scanner Ulrich swiped along the bracelet and quickly reached around his back drawing out one of his swords. As the smoke from exiting the scanners cleared Ulrich leaned back and threw the sword at Odd's head, missing him by only an inch or two the sword embedded itself into the wall. This time Odd swore and panicking he lost his grip on the wall and fell to the floor in an undignified heap.
"Ulrich!" reprimanded Yumi.
Ulrich shrugged and jumped up to the wall and retrieved his sword. "I had to get even." He explained as he landed next to Yumi.
"Come on back to the lab while Jeremy goes over the final scan data to make sure everything is working." Said Aelita who was still floating near the ceiling.
"You going to do that a lot?" asked Odd.
Aelita smiled. "I like flying."
The three of them now with their Lyoko forms on trudged back into the elevator to go up to the lab.
Jeremy swung around in his chair to look over his handy work.
"They look good!" he said.
Ulrich swung his swords through the air in a complex figure eight. "They feel good." he said. Aelita landed down on the floor next to them.
"How do we do that Aelita? Activate only one part of our Avatars?" Asked Yumi. Aelita had only been using her wings and not her entire Avatar.
"Just think about what you want to activate and swipe the bracelet. Only that aspect of the form will appear." she explained.
Yumi deactivated her Avatar and then swept her wrist. Her fans appeared in the back pockets of her pants and taking them out she spun them around in her hands. "Neat." She said.
"Why don't we have crossover like Aelita though?" Asked Yumi. None of them seemed to be manifesting the ears like Aelita was.
Jeremy shrugged. "I would guess that when you think of your normal self you don't think of parts of your Avatar like Aelita does."
Arik looked up from the computer screen. "I don't see any errors Jeremy." she said.
He nodded. "Neither did I. The three of us will continue looking over the data for today. But now we should be ready for the next attack Xana sends towards us."
