one negative and a faded photograph

She's halfway up to the main floor of the Library when she sees with sudden, aching clarity the horrible truth of her words to Anita—this is not her Doctor. This man is the polar opposite of her Doctor; coping, hurting, running as fast and as far as he could, and so very young…and then she closes her eyes as she realizes she's made a terrible, terrible mistake.

This is not the Doctor who escaped the Pandorica. This is not the Doctor who defeated the Silence.

This is not the Doctor who tricked Time itself into believing he was dead.

This Doctor is ready to die.

But River isn't ready for that, not yet, not by a long shot. Her Doctor is so much more than this man believes he could ever be.

And, as she plugs herself into a computer, she'd like to think that she had a little to do with that.
