Sorry it has been over a year. I just got so caught up in Senior year of high school. Now I am a Freshman and college and I am starting to get back into a heavy writing groove again. So without further ado, the next chapter!

Kallye's View

Enter Coma Sequence

Toby and Kimberly were on the swing set pretending to be spies. Toby slid down the fire pole and hit the ground running. Kimberly stayed at the "fort" and gave him instructions on the "mission" via walkie-talkie. Whitney was kicking the soccer ball around with her daddy. Wyatt and Benjamin were in the sandbox making a sand castle. Zach must have been at someone's house. Kimberly decided to leave the "fort". She fell off the fire pole and hit the ground with a sickening crack. I sprung out of my chair and went over to her. Her ear was scratched and bloody from the landing and she was cradling her right arm. She was bawling her eyes out.

"Kimmy can you sit up for me?" I asked. Kimberly nodded and slowly sat up. Alex picked her up off the ground and carried her inside. I washed out all of her cuts including the one on her ear that needed several stitches.

"Kallye we need to take her to the hospital. She needs stitches, x-rays, and a tetanus shot." Alex told me. I nodded.

"Get the kids ready while I stabilize her arm." I told him. Alex nodded. Luckily enough all the kids were outside already so all Alex had to do was herd them into the van.

End Coma Sequence

Alex's View

Kallye was in a coma. I had been changing Wyatt's diaper when I'd gotten the call. Derek said she'd collapsed in Addison's room and started seizing. The cause was a tumor, an inoperable tumor. The worst thing was that she wasn't waking up either. The chances of her waking up or living more than a year with this if she did wake up were almost nothing. This tumor had come out of nowhere. I wasn't prepared to raise six kids all by myself. All of them, each and every one of them needed their mother. Especially Wyatt and Benjamin. I'd practically grown up without one and it was hell. I didn't want them to have to go through with that. Derek and his other sister Amelia were working hard to find a way to resect the tumor. Resecting it was the only option really. It was our only hope. The kids were with Callie and so far in the dark on what was wrong but eventually I would have to tell them that their mom was dying. After several hours of just sitting and holding her hand, Derek came in to her room.

"Any luck?" I asked hopefully. Derek shook his head solemnly. I sighed and nodded. "How is Addison?" I asked.

"Good. The girls are fine but the boy is having some problems. He is in the NICU." Derek said. I nodded and scratched my head.

"What are their names?" I asked.

"Jocelyn Morgan Shepherd, Ellie Katherine Shepherd, and Sebastian Karev Shepherd." Derek told me. I smiled.

"Sebastian Karev?" I asked. Derek nodded. "Thank you Derek, that means a lot to me." I told him. Derek smiled.

"No problem." Derek told me.

Two weeks later

April's View

Andrew threw his backpack down on the couch and flopped down next to it.

"What's wrong Drew?" I asked concerned.

"I hate school." He huffed and crossed his arms across his chest.

"Why do you hate school?" Jackson asked, looking up from his newspaper.

"Everyone else can read like it is no problem. By my letters get all jumbled." He complained. I sighed. I was pretty sure Andrew was dyslexic.

"Just keep at it bud and you will get it eventually." I encouraged. Jackson shot me a look that I knew instantly. We needed to get Andrew a tutor. Lilian came into the house and sat her backpack down next to Andrew's.

"How was your day Lily?" Jackson asked.

"Good. I was on green the whole day." She told us proudly.

"That is super awesome Lily." I told her.

"What color were you on Drew?" Jackson asked.

"Yellow." Andrew mumbled. Abigail came into the living room looking totally indifferent.

"How was school Abby?" I asked.

"Boring." She sighed.

"Boring?" I asked. Abby nodded.

"It's too easy." She shrugged.

"Easy?" Andrew asked in disbelief.

"Yeah." Abigail shrugged. A few minutes later the triplets went up to their rooms to do their homework.

"We have three very different kids." Jackson remarked. I nodded.

"We need to get Andrew tested for dyslexia. I'm pretty sure he has it." I told Jackson seriously. Jackson nodded.

"We need to get Abigail into the gifted program." Jackson told me. I nodded. Lucas wandered into the living room and sat down on the couch between Jackson and myself.

"Momma, I'm hungry." Lucas told me. I smiled.

"Okay, well how about a snack?" I asked. Lucas nodded and followed me into the kitchen. "What sounds good?" I asked once I had seated him in the high stools at the island.

"Apples!" He shouted enthusiastically.

"With peanut butter?" I asked.

"Yeah." Lucas nodded excitedly. I smiled and grabbed the peanut butter out of the cabinet.

"Green or red?" I asked grabbing the apple slices out of the drawer.

"Green." Lucas decided. I nodded and grabbed a green apple out of the fridge. "They my favorite." Lucas told me. I smiled.

"Mine too." I told him. Lucas beamed. I washed off the apple and then sliced it and arranged the slices on a plate. Then I pilled the peanut butter in the center of the plate. I smiled as I watched Lucas eat the whole apple with a huge smile on his face. When I was washing the peanut butter off the plate I heard a loud crash come from upstairs. I froze and slapped off the water before taking off into the living room. Jackson was already up the stairs. I ran up the stairs faster than I ever had. The noise had come from Andrew's room. When I entered his room Jackson was trying to console him as tears spilled from his eyes. His bookcase had fallen and his books were scattered everywhere. "What happened?" I asked.

"Andrew, tell your mother what happened please." Jackson told Andrew calmly.

"I got angry because I suck at reading. So I kicked the bookcase." Andrew said shamefully.

"His foot is broken April." Jackson told me. I sighed.

"Okay, Jackson take him to the ER. I'll clean this up." I told Jackson. Jackson nodded and picked up Andrew. He carried out and I bent down to start picking up books. Lucas came in a few minutes later when I was starting to put books back on the shelves.

"I finished cleaning up my plate. Do you need help momma?" Lucas asked. I smiled, Lucas was definitely a momma's boy.

"Sure Luke, you can help me put the books back on Drew's shelf." I told him. He nodded and picked up and book.
