Chapter 1

He walked to the house he so often watched at night. His eyes wandered to the top left window, watching the person behind it playing video games. He needed to talk to him. Talk to the person who saved his life more than once even though he never showed any affection towards him. He knew he shouldn't be here, knew he shouldn't talk to him but he didn't care. He didn't care what the others thought but maybe they would never find out. At least he hoped so.

When Derek entered the house he tried to be as quiet as possible, trying not to wake the Sheriff. A restraining order was the last think he needed right now. Going trough the living room he looked at photos of Stiles when he was still a little boy. Pictures of Stiles with his mother. Happy times. Just like him, Stiles lost his mother when he was still a child. Growing up without a caring mother wasn't easy but the problem was that Derek grew up as an orphan. He only had Laura who helped him through so much but now she was gone too. It still pained him to think about her.
He entered Stiles' room slowly, trying not to freak him out but it didn't work. When Stiles' eyes locked with his he jumped out of his chair.

"What the hell are you doing here?" he almost screamed although it was obvious that he kept his voice down because he didn't want his dad to hear him.

"I wanted to talk to you.", Derek answered in his normal voice that didn't show any emotion.

"You do realize it's 2 AM right?"

"Yes, I am aware of that, thank you Stiles."

"So what do you want?", Stiles asked less annoyed than in the beginning.

"I wanted to thank you for yesterday. For saving me in the pool. That was really brave of you. I know I shouldn't be here because, well, Scott and I are not really on the best terms right now but I wanted to let you kow that I really appreciate what you did for me.", Derek said as he moved closer to Stiles. Their bodies were only inches away now and he looked him directly in the eyes. The tension in the air was almost within reach. None of them moved. After what felt like an eternity Stiles whispered "You should probably leave now before my dad wakes up."

"Well, it's too late for that now." Sheriff Stilinski said while he was standing in the doorway. Derek could only guess what went through his head as he saw his son standing that close to another man. Oh well.
