A Tribute to Makorra Week

The Clocktower was peaceful in every way possible. It looked peaceful, with the whole of Twilight Town within eyesight and the sunset glowing. It sounded peaceful, the birds twittering a melody as they flew by. It felt peaceful, as one could relax while looking down at a hundred-foot drop. It smelled and even tasted peaceful.

Or, at least, the sea salt ice cream did.

Korra's legs dangled, swinging them back and forth. She swooped in and took another bite of the popsicle. First came the salty flood, which eventually washed away to make room for the sweet aftertaste.

"Sorry I'm late."

She turned her head to see a tall, pale-skinned seventeen year old. He gave a smile and plopped down next to her.

"Here." She held out one of the ice creams to him. He accepted it and nodded his thanks before delving into the blue.

The two of them sat together in serenity. Occasionally they made small talk or exchanged laughter, but most of the time was spent sitting there and eating. Neither of them minded the silence much, for if one was placed between two people and fit there snugly, then sometimes it meant complete trust in each other.

Mako's gold beads slid to look at her. Her face was bright, as if a sun was shining behind her chocolate skin. She raised the ice cream- then met his eyes and lowered it. Her eyes looked down, her energetic smile took the form of a sweet one and now faint traces of red were dappled on her cheeks.

Then, as if guided, the two of them gradually moved closer to each other until their noses were just an inch apart. To close the space between them, their lips touched.

And in that moment, the only things that existed were each other and the setting sun shining brightly, as if smiling down on the precious moment.
