"Doctor!" Rose called as she wandered through the many corridors of the TARDIS. She checked her watch. It was nearly 2:00 PM and she had not seen the Doctor all day. It was unusual for him to have not made an appearance by now. Bizarre, really. He should have been out of bed by now. They should have been traveling through time and space; exploring new and strange planets and defending the world. Her stomach growled. Oh yeah, and they should have had something to eat. "Doctor! Can we go out for chips?" Rose waited. No response. "Doctor!" She called his name again hoping he would hear so that she wouldn't have to go and look for him. The TARDIS was like a maze game, an intricate series of pathways and turns all similar in size and shape. The TARDIS itself was an adventure, which she would one day love to explore, but not today; Not now and not by herself. "Doctor!" She tried one last time. She was answered with silence. Giving up on just calling his name, she started opening the many doors that lined the TARDIS walls.
After what felt like hours of searching to no avail, she came across a closed door which had a blue-ish light spilling out of the cracks between the door and it's frame. What could be in there?
"Doctor?" She whispered. She leaned her ear against the door. If there was anything inside she couldn't hear. She stood back up and examined the door again. It's well worth a shot, the Doctor is either in there or he isn't.
As quietly as possible, she opened the door. More of the blue light spilled out from the room. Nothing jumped out at her; there were no alarms or flashing lights. It seemed safe enough. Rose decided to go in.
Books. Thats the first thing she noticed, the walls were lined with books. Hundreds upon hundreds of books and they were all different: old, new, leather bound, paperback, official looking textbooks, to journals that looked millions of years old. As Rose looked she could see that most of them weren't even in English. And wires. Wires everywhere; Along the ceiling, down the walls. The room looked like a spaceship from the year 500,000,000 A.D. crashed into a library. Rose stepped completely into the room to get a better look, and thats when she noticed the shirtless man, unaware to her existence, and casually laying on a bed to her left.
Rose gasped and froze. The man lying on the bed was the Doctor. His hair was disheveled and he wore his square frame glasses as he appeared to be reading intently from a book. He was wearing a pair of flannel pajama pants and… no shirt. He was quite muscular, Rose noted. He was so skinny that his muscles were quite defined. This was the first time she had seen him shirtless. Rose let her eyes roam over his body. He had quite a nice happy trail. She wondered what it would be like to-
"Oi! Um, Hello!" To Rose's disappointment the Doctor had noticed her presence and begin to move from his spot. He pulled his glasses off and sat them on the bedside table while he pulled the covers up to his stomach and quickly stashed the book that he was reading under his pillow. "I was just..umm.. having a bit of read before I went to bed, yes. They did a study you know, showing that if before you go to bed, you have a difficult problem, while you're sleeping your brain tries to formulate the answer! Amazing thing the human brain is! Though, it is not as impressive as the Ghicklsailkis' they actually have four brains simultaneously working together in order-"
"Doctor!" Rose smiled at him, cutting him off from his ramble. He looked back at her and a wide smile crept across his face, which only made her smile more. She walked over to his bed and sat down on the corner of it. "Doctor," she began "Do you have any idea what time it is?"
"Why, umm.. half past Midnight?" Rose chuckled and raised in eyebrow.
"Okay... no. Not Midnight. Is it umm 4:00 AM?" Rose burst out laughing at this point.
"Doctor, It's 2:00 PM!"
"No!" He exclaimed in disbelief. Rose moved closer to him and laughed. "No! It most certainly isn't! I only read a few chapters!"
"Doctor? Were you up all night reading?" She laughed again sticking out her tongue between her teeth. The Doctor smiled at her and started to laugh with her. Rose's head feel against his chest as they continued to laugh. Giggling, the Doctor held her against his chest in a hug, and she rested her head on his shoulder. When they settled down from their laughter they stayed cuddled up together, smiles on both of their faces.
"What were you even reading?" Rose asked looking up at him. The Doctor's chest stiffened and he stopped smiling and looked away from her.
"Oh…. Nothing. Just…ummm.. a book. A very dull book. Nothing special. Not even in English. You wouldn't know it." Rose sat up and frowned at him.
"Doctor, What are you not telling me?"
"Nothing. It's nothing at all." The Doctor sat up and rearranged himself on the bed so that he was sitting in front of his pillow.
"What book were you reading?" She asked softly.
"It's just… Welllll.. It's a book from the future. Couldn't let you read it. You know, spoilers." The Doctor looked around the room pretending to be nonchalant.
"Thought you said it wasn't in English." Rose said slowly with a teasing smile. He was caught. The Doctor was definitely hiding something. But what? What could he possibly be reading? She'd know soon enough. He couldn't keep something secret from her. If she really wanted to know, that is. In only a few seconds she had a plan that would definitely uncover what the Doctor so desperately wanted to stay hidden. Oh, how she knew the Doctor.
"Alright," Rose said with a sigh as she laid back down on the bed, "I'll let it go." The Doctor smiled at her gratefully and she couldn't help but smile back. He laid down on his pillow and gently took her hand. "So, this what you where to bed, yeah?" Closer up Rose could now see that what she mistook for flannel print pajama bottoms were actually a pair of light blue pajamas with dancing bananas on them. She couldn't help laughing. The Doctor was just too much sometimes.
"What? I like banana's. Banana's are good. Did you know that in-" In a flash, Rose climbed on top of him, straddling his waist and began to kiss him cutting off the rest of his words. Rose could tell that the Doctor was surprised. Definitely surprised, pleasantly surprised, she assumed because after a moment his arms lightly came around her waist and he started to kiss her back. That's when Rose decided to make her move. Without breaking the kiss, Rose quickly stuck her hand under the pillow and started feeling around for the book.
As soon as her hand came in contact with it she rolled off the Doctor and looked at what she had found; The Doctor's secret. Her jaw dropped and she nearly pissed her pants laughing. The Doctor looked at her and quickly snatched the book back. It was too late though, for Rose had already seen it.
"Twilight?" She managed to let out in between fits of laughter. "You, The Doctor, the Oncoming Storm, read Twilight!" Rose was caught up in a fit of laughter again. She couldn't believe it.
"Oi! It's a good book! And I…ummm I'm reading it for research purposes! In the planet Marlighoni there is an alien species which bare striking similarities to the vampires in this book. I was merely leafing through it!" Rose put a hand over his mouth while still convulsing in a fit of giggles.
"Oh save it!" Research purposes? Really? How daft did he take her for? "Oh this is too good! This is brilliant! Haha! Oh I've got tell someone! Jack! I have to go phone Jack!" With that Rose sprang off his bed and out of the room.
"Oi!" The Doctor called down the hall, "It's not Twilight. It's Breaking Dawn!" From down the hallway he could hear Rose's laughter, but it was slowly fading. He would have to go and find her so that she wouldn't be able to phone anyone. He stepped out of his bed. How had she done it? He replayed the events in his head. Oh, now he saw. That sneaky, plotting, brilliant girl. The Doctor started to race down the hall after her.
"Oi! You just snogged me! Get back here!" He waited for her response. He was answered by the sound of her laughter. He chased after her down the corridor a smile on his face. Oh Rose.
