Three Doctors and a Choice

Part I: Three Doctors

Out of the corner of his eye the Doctor saw the Master and the lost Gallifreyans materialize in front of him. Suddenly he understood. The Doctor's life was unraveling at the speed of light but stopped abruptly at the moments that were most important to the Doctor. The events were also fixed events. Every single one of them.

The Doctor had very nearly caused a catastrophe by talking to a young Amy. Then the last of the Timelords found himself at Dårlig Ulv Stranden (aka Bad Wolf Bay) facing for the second time as Rose said "On the worst day of my life." That true was the same for the Doctor. He saw the two former versions of himself, Donna, and the TARDIS but he only had eyes for one girl, Rose Tyler. Unfortunately, she saw him too. His mere presence would leave a lot of explaining for the half human self but things seemed to take a tumble for the worse when she questioned the two Doctors closest to her.

Neither one seemed to be able to explain causing her to march over very quickly in his direction. Right then and there it all made sense. The fact that all the attention was on him when in all the other situations no one even heard him only could mean one thing, this was far from a fixed moment in time.

It couldn't be! Was the universe really giving him a chance to undo what he'd done? Sure, at the time he'd made (or was about to) the best possible choice. But, he'd never see Rose again. Right now he could grab Rose and they could spend the rest of time together. In the void the two of them would never grow old. They could be practically immortal. It seemed perfect. But he also knew it was a Fool's Choice.

He swore in Gallifreyan and put his hand on the pocket carrying the physic paper as she grew closer.
