Just a simple fic. :) Enjoy.

Jason was never really good at expressing his feelings.

It was easy for most people to say I love you to their lover before they hang up on a phone call, or leave to go to work. Jason did not do that, and Dick understood that the other man did things a little different. It was not that Jason did not love Dick back, and it was not like Jason never told Dick he loved him, it was just rare. Rare for those three words to leave his mouth.

Dick always told Jason he loved him, even when it was not necessary.

"I love you." Dick stepped out of their apartment and onto the balcony. Jason had just lit a cigarette, the smoke whirled around him as he pivoted to face Dick.

It was the combination of Dick telling him he loved him and the way the setting sun lit up his ebony black hair startled Jason. The smoke from his cigarette was caught in his throat and he began coughing. Once his body had calmed down, he glanced upward and spotted Dick standing now only a foot away.

"Dickie-bird," Jason spoke, taking in a heavy breath. "You sneak up on me like that again, and I might accidentally give you a contusion."

Another time that Dick had randomly revealed his love to Jason through words was during one of those rare events where he was able to drag the Jason to the Manor for a family get together. Everyone was out in the yard, and Jason decided to stay away from the rest of the group. He was messing around with a few bugs that were hanging on a tree when he heard Dick shout his name.

"Jay!" Dick called, standing up, "Hey! Come over here!"

"No." Jason answered back, not yelling but he figured Dick could hear him anyway.

"Jay!" Dick called again, waving a stick with a marshmallow attached to the end of it. The group of brothers and sisters had decided to make smores before going out on patrol. "I love you!"
Jason rolled his eyes, and saw Bruce do a face palm.

Most of the time, when Jason did say I love you, was when they had sex. He often says it in with a thick breath, and each word is weighed heavy with passion.

But sometimes, Dick just wants to hear it out of the bed room. He wants Jason to say it public, so random people on the street who happen to over hear know.

One morning Dick had to wake up early, it was one of the few times he was up before Jason. As Dick sat on the bed to tie his shoes, he questioned, "Why don't we go out for dinner tonight?"

"Not now, Dickie-bird." Jason yawned, turning on his side to get a better look at Dick. "I'm sill sleeping."

Dick gave off a tiny laugh, before continued, "Come on, Jay." he urged, reaching across the bed to pat Jason on the thigh. "Let's go out, we never really go out anywhere."

Jason bit down on his bottom lip, it was hard for him to ever so "No." to Dick. Dick was just to beautiful for him to say something like that. Especially at that moment, with the dim lighting in the room and Dick half dressed in his police uniform. With a growl, Jason gave in, "Fine, we'll go out."

"Yes!" Dick kissed Jason on the cheek, and dashed off into the bathroom to make some last minute adjustments on his hair.

Once Dick had stepped back out of their bathroom, he noticed that Jason had fallen back to sleep. He knew that Jason was half asleep during their conversation, and he probably wont remember anything he said. Dick was okay with that, because as he grabbed his cell phone from their nightstand he heard Jason mutter in his sleep, "I love you, Dick."
