I'm not gonna lie, this is pretty cheesy. I seriously need to write some action-y ones, huh? Anyway, enjoy (hopefully) :D

Italian opera music played softly from within the TARDIS, and upon awaking from her nap River was very nearly lulled back to sleep by it. However, she could smell something delicious in the air, and that was enough to entice her out of bed.

Half-stumbling from her still tired bones, she made her way throughout the TARDIS, following in the direction of the wonderful smell. She knew exactly where she has headed- the kitchen of course- and was automatically filled with great anticipation, along with a hint of wariness. The last few times her husband had made her a meal it had been mac and cheese, grilled PB&J, or chicken strips. Granted- those had been the best things she'd ever tasted, but still. That man had the taste buds of a child.

Before River had ever seen the kitchen, she'd been expecting something spectacular, something grand: shiny steel industrial appliances, a room bigger than the bedroom. In all actuality, however, it was very quaint; like the kitchen in a country home. River, in fact, liked the reality much better than her expectation. It was just…homier.

When River reached the kitchen, she paused in the doorway for a moment to admire the chef. His tweed coat was gone, leaving him in his shirt, suspenders, and bowtie. An apron was tied around his waist, and atop his head was a tall, white chef's hat. River was surprised to see candles lighting the small dinner table, upon which fine china and sterling silverware had already been set out. Fresh rolls were perfectly arranged in a basket, while a small bowl of salad sat, already prepared. The Doctor was in the process of straining the spaghetti, while red sauce simmered on the stove. He was staring intently at his pasta, completely absorbed.

Smiling slyly, River snuck up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist. He jumped in surprise then twisted around, grinning widely.

"You just had to wear a ridiculous hat, didn't you?" River chuckled, knocking off his hat. The Doctor smirked, accepting a quick kiss.

"I thought you were sleeping." He announced, grabbing a piece of spaghetti and draping it over River's nose.

"I was." She replied simply, tossing the pasta back at him.

"Well you're just in time. Go sit down." River did as was told, sauntering over to the table and watching him as he dished up spaghetti for the both of them. He set a plate before River then sat opposite her with a plate his own, pausing to smile warmly at her.

"Why are you smiling?" River asked accusingly, realizing how she must look after just waking up.

"Because I think you are beautiful." The Doctor said, drawing out the word.

River grunted noncommittally in response, stabbing her fork into her pasta.

"What?" the Doctor asked incredulously. "You don't believe me?" he grabbed a roll and began tearing it into tiny pieces.

"Sweetie, I just woke up. I'm hardly photograph ready." River replied, shrugging.

The Doctor pouted. "Now that's just not true. You're stunning." The Doctor set down his fork before he even took a bite, his twinkling eyes daring her to protest.

"You're just saying that." River accused, pointing her fork at him. She then took another bite of her spaghetti, which was glorious. She repeated her opinion of the dinner to the Doctor.

"You're glorious." He countered. River rolled her eyes, chomping into a roll.

"How can you not believe me? You're ravishing!"

"Eat your dinner."

The Doctor shoved a forkful of pasta into his mouth.

"Gorgeous." He said earnestly.

"Shut up and eat." River ordered, hiding a flattered smile. The Doctor quickly shoveled in more food as if it were a chore.

"I mean, your eyes alone- absolutely enchanting."

"Doctor, for heaven's sake, hush." River said, raising her eyebrows. Inwardly she beamed, however, at the sincere adoration in the Doctor's eyes. She continued eating, trying to ignore the Doctor who was eyeing her meaningfully.

"And your hair! Entrancing!" the Doctor persisted, getting to his feet.

"Are you not going to finish your dinner?" River asked him, though the answer was obvious.

"My dear, you are absolutely dazzling." He now stood beside her, waiting as she finished the last bites of her meal.

"You've barely even eaten half." River chastised him half-heartedly. The Doctor held out his hand and she accepted it immediately, allowing him to pull her to her feet.

He pulled River in close, affixing her arms around his neck then placing his hands on her waist.

"Incredible," the Doctor continued, slowly swaying so that they began to dance to the slow Italian music that had yet to stop. "Irresistible," he breathed, and River no longer had the breath to protest. "Delectable," the Doctor whispered after kissing her slowly.

River rested her head on his chest as they continued to sway to the music. The Doctor hummed contentedly, pressing a kiss to the top of her head and then resting his cheek there, closing his eyes.

"My River," he murmured. "Perfect."

...

So, Peter Capaldi, that's new. I don't know much about him but I'm sure he'll be a great Doctor.

Any and all sorts of reviews are enormously appreciated and awesome and beautiful and lovely. Okay have a nice day :)
