Kurt had been watching Sebastian from the corner or his eye. He had been concerned for the ex-Warbler for some time now. Sebastian continued to reassure him that he was fine, that everything was okay, but it wasn't very convincing. His coffee had gone cold as he continued to watch him. He was aware of the fact that Sebastian was blatantly staring at him.
To say that Sebastian looked sad was an understatement, he always looked sad. Today, he looked defeated, as though he had just lost a battle. Kurt's heart ached for him. He wanted nothing more than to wrap his arms around the other boy and tell him that everything was going to be okay. But that wasn't what Sebastian needed right now. Kurt could tell that Sebastian's mood had been brought on by something too big for a hug to fix.
As the minutes passed by, he felt the urge to go sit with him. He felt guilty for how he had treated him. Even when he had good intentions, he knew what he had said to him had hurt him. Just as he built up the nerve to stand up and walk over to Sebastian, he was gone. Kurt had been so caught up in his own thoughts, he didn't even see him sighed as he stood up as well, if Sebastian wasn't here, there was no need for him to be here either. He threw away the remainder of his cold coffee and half-eaten muffin before making his way out the door. He was walking towards his car when he saw Sebastian's, still sitting the parking lot. The engine wasn't turned on and the boy seemed to be lost in thought.
As Kurt approached the car, he noticed that Sebastian wasn't just lost in thought. He was crying. When he got closer, he could see that his face was wet with tears. He frowned at the thought of Sebastian crying, it didn't seem right to him. Sebastian was supposed to be the trademark bad boy who didn't care, not the weepy damsel in distress. He tapped softly on his window and smiled at him. "Think I could join you?"
When he heard the click of the doors unlocking, Kurt circled the car to get to the passenger's side. He opened the door and slid into the seat. He closed the door, making the space around them seem smaller, more intimate. Sebastian had stopped crying and was attempting to cover the fact that he had. Kurt watched as a smirk formed on his face and he wiped away the remaining tears. Kurt decided that they could talk about that later, Sebastian was obviously embarrassed by the situation.
"I wanted to apologize." Kurt began before pausing to think. "I should've dealt with you liking me differently. I shouldn't have said all those things to you. I really am sorry." He looks into Sebastian's eyes, his beautiful emerald green eyes, before continuing. "It's not like I'm opposed to the idea of dating you, I really like you, Sebastian. That's why I had to stop talking to you. It didn't feel right that I enjoyed talking to you so much when I was in a relationship."
He watched as Sebastian began to open his mouth to speak, but he didn't want him to, at least not yet. He reached out for Sebastian's hand and intertwined their fingers. He brought Sebastian's hand to his mouth and pressed a kiss to it. He notices the scars on his wrist, little white lines that cover the skin there and presses a kiss there too.
"I want to be with you, but I need you to stop lying to me. I need complete honesty, no more bullshit lies about being okay. I know you're not okay." Kurt declared as though it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Tell me what's wrong and let me help or at least let me get you help. I don't like seeing you like this."
He lets Sebastian speak, though really it's mostly just crying. He awkwardly wrapped his arms around him as he cries and tries to comfort him. He gets snippets of what he is trying to say. Words and parts of sentences like Mother, Dad's a drunk, and love you.
It seems like hours when Sebastian stops crying, but in reality, it had been about ten minutes since Kurt got into the car. Kurt wiped away some of the tears on his face and smiled at him. "How about we go to my house? We can talk, and you can stay the night if you want. We have an extra room." He took the keys out of Sebastian's hand and made him switch seats with him.
It's a quiet drive to the Hummel residence, but a comforting quiet. Kurt's hand was still holding onto Sebastian's tightly. At every red light, he turned and gave Sebastian a small smile and he received one as well. When they do finally get to Kurt's house, before Kurt even has the chance to unlock his front door, Sebastian is kissing him. His lips were soft, and he tasted like coffee. It was almost perfect, but Kurt knew that it would be a long path until they would be perfect.
He pushed the other boy off of him gently, "Sebastian, not right now, okay?" He gave him a firm expression and unlocks the door. Kurt was not going to be a Sebastian's savior or his angel. That's not what he needed. He needed help, professional help, not to ignore his problems now that he had Kurt. He drags the other boy down to the basement and sits him down on his bed.
"Tell me when this started." He demanded, holding up Sebastian's wrists where he can see just how many little scars litter his skin.
