This is a Pokemon-related drabble, I don't own the rights to anything.

...Even though I don't know the name of Hue's sister, I could resist writing something new and posting it.

EDIT: English names, touching up a few areas where the writing lacked. Left original notes though, because they amused me.

"Why'd you an' Nate on'y get one-"

"Slow down, or you're going to get brain freeze," Hugh interrupted quickly.

Trying to think of how to avoid her inevitable questioning was almost as painful as watching her wolf down ice cream. It was a hot summer day, and it was their first cone of the year, but still – there was no excuse for that...

Nate grabbed his arm before he could grab a napkin and start wiping her face off – he didn't say anything, but Hue understood the look in his eyes well enough. Nate was telling him not to bother, because she would only get dirtier in the next couple of minutes. If she asked, Nate would tell her that it was because Hugh treated her too much like a baby, and they would both agree on that.

Nate already knew her so well...

"Sorry," she mumbled. "I'll be more careful."

"That's a good girl."

"But I really want to know: How come Nate and big brother have to share a cone?"

Stalling for a matter of seconds hadn't managed to help Hugh think any faster, particularly since he hadn't spent those seconds thinking of an answer at all.

"Er, that's-"

Luckily, Nate already had a solution in mind: "We're a bit short on money, that's all," he replied. He wore a pleasant grin as he spoke that would have convinced almost anyone, let alone Hugh's five year old sister.

"But don't feel bad about it!" Hugh added quickly. He knew his little sister really well, and noting the way she looked down at her cone, it was easy to tell she would start apologizing for making them spend money on her if he didn't say something soon. "We don't mind, really. You're our special little girl."

"Really?"

"Yep. Wouldn't do it for anyone else in the world."

Without having to say anything, Hugh knew Nate would agree. Being good with kids was a huge plus, if they were planning on having a future together.

I should stop writing this ship until I get a better feel for the chara- I'LL TAKE REQUESTS.
