A Funny Feeling Inside

He never was a fan of my swordplay. He said that practicing it so often would only invite more danger into our lives. I disagreed. Life around here was rough and now that I'd found my… significant other, I wanted to do all that I could to keep him safe. He told me that he didn't need protecting. He was the goddess's hero, even still he seemed naïve to me. I felt older, more responsible and more malicious. I was willing to do just about anything to keep him safe.

He quietly skirted around the target to watch me. The poor dummy never saw it coming. Sure, I was showing off just a little, but even still my skill was undeniable. I let out yells to appropriate the movement. Link smiled and clapped at my move. I wiped the sweat from my brow. I motioned for him to come out and try. He smiled and shook his head no. I insisted and when he again refused I pulled him out to the dummy, handed him my sword and demanded he try.

"Dark," he muttered. I stopped and stared at him, my eyes analyzing every part of him. He was a magnificent creature, so different from me, yet so similar. I put a hand on his shoulder and pulled him close to me. He struggled slightly, dropping my sword onto the ground in a swift movement.

"I just want you to try," I whispered, "for me?" I breathed quietly into his ear. He shivered violently, but I continued to hold him, putting a gentle kiss on his jawbone. His neck twitched almost pleasurably as he finally released the rigidity in his shoulders. He closed his eyes and let me tuck his hair behind his ear.

"Fine," he agreed, as I rubbed the supple muscle of his shoulder. Just as he was pulling away to pick up the sword I trapped his head in my hand. His long-lashed eyes snapped open.

"Thank you," I said, seriously grateful. My eyes were honest, yet still puzzled by Link and all that he was.

"I wish you wouldn't look at me like that every time you see me," he muttered, turning his chin down and refusing to look me in the eyes. I shook my head not understanding.

"Like what?"

"Like that, it makes me feel funny inside," he complained, rubbing his arm uneasily. I was worried that I'd upset him, I knelt down to see his face. He grinned at my curiosity, flipping his hair from his face.

"I'm sorry I'll stop," I murmured quietly.

"It's not a bad funny," Link uttered. I raised an eyebrow and grinned a half-smile. He slid from my grasp and picked up my sword.

"Here let me—" I insisted reaching for the sword. I watched him lift it to the dummy and duplicate the move I'd taken so long to master.

"Like that?" he asked, grinning from ear to ear. My jaw dropped.
