Author's Note: I always planned to take the story in this direction, but now the plot can really get moving.
Kagome couldn't contain her surprise and when the rouge-nin were disposed of, anger settled in. She was confounded by the fact Inuki had been her uncle in disguise and from the lack of surprise on Itachi and Shisui faces, they'd known the whole time.
The fact they didn't trust her enough to let her in on the "secret" hurt more than anything. But she couldn't help but wonder why?
"Sorry, Kagome-chan. We had to get out of the village. But first, Itachi, the safe-house please." Madara said apologetically before he gestured with his head to the empty space before them.
Itachi said nothing but he turned from the three of them and flew through a series of hands signs before the ground before them began to shudder and shake. The earth broke and out came tall walls that surrounded them like a makeshift house.
There was a single window at the very top but otherwise, it was bare. It resembled a normal room and she wondered if it had plumbing facilities as well. She'd heard of these safe houses, but never actually had the chance to see one up close.
As they set up and got comfortable, Kagome was anything but. She still felt burned from being excluded and lied too; but then they were all shinobi, so what did she expect? Itachi was the best of them at what he did and Madara even more so.
But if they did this to get her out of the village, then did the Hokage know about this from the start? Was this planned deliberately?
"The Hokage knows about this, doesn't he." It was more of a statement than anything else. There must be something more to this whole situation than she initially thought.
Shisui sighed and dropped down next to her from her kneeling position. His face looked sad as he gazed at her. "Yes, the Hokage knows. There's a reason we brought you out here."
"Kagome-chan, do you remember anything from when you were a child?" Madara suddenly asked her.
She blinked, confused. "I...vaguely, yes. Why?"
"Have you ever wondered why you don't resembled any of us? Why, out of every Uchiha, that you have blue eyes and not the onyx? It would be fairly easy to play off your inability to gain the Sharingan but as you grew older, it became harder and harder to explain." Shisui breathed out a tired breath but she stared at him, a slow feeling of dread pooling at the pit of her stomach. "You were only a baby when we found you, Kagome. Swaddled in a red cloth at the bottom of a flaming Well. You should have been burned to ash but no, that cloth you were wrapped in kept you safe."
"Are...are you telling me I'm not an Uchiha by blood?" The realization hit her like one of Sakura-chan's punches.
Itachi cut his steady gaze to her. "Of course you are, never doubt that."
Then, what did this mean for her, exactly? And why did she get the feeling there was far more to this story than what they were telling her?
