I'm sorry this took a while to get up. I would have had it up sooner, but life happened and my computer stopped working so I had to figure that out. But god news is it's fixed. YAH!
Spatterson: I forgot to put it in the last chapter, but I did read your story. It was hard to believe Azula was a good fairy, but it was an interesting twist and good. Good job!
As everyone headed out of the museum, Michaela picked up Jedediah and Octavius. "Jed, I know you must hate me. I wasn't really going to be Kahmunrah's queen. I just wanted...it was stupid to think I could help."
"So, this whole thing was an act?" Jed asked.
"Yes. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I…"
"You pretended to be Kahmunrah's queen so you could stop him? I think that was mighty brave of you." Octavius said.
"I don't know about that. It was a stupid idea that wasn't well thought out."
They arrived outside. All the exhibits gathered as they waited for Amelia to come with a plane.
"Hey Michaela, you were really brave in there." Larry said as he walked up to her.
"Uh, thanks." She held out her hand to Larry. "Here's these guys."
Larry took Jed and Octavius and put them in the breast pocket. "Sorry we can't stay and help with the mess."
"It's all right. I'm not sure what I'm going to tell my boss. I'll most likely be fired though."
"Yeah, I've been there. Well, if you're ever in New York look me up."
Michaela smiled. "I'll do that." Amelia came out with a plane. "Looks like your ride is here."
"Thanks for all your help, Michaela."
"You're welcome. Try to stay out of trouble."
Larry smiled. "I'll try, but I'm not making any promises."
Sacagawea came up to Michaela and gave her a hug. "Thank you. I hope things work out for you."
"I hope so too."
Michaela watched as they all boarded the plane. She didn't think they would all fit, but the plane must be bigger on the inside because they were all able to fit inside.
Michaela was about to turn around and head back inside when Larry called her name. She turned back and walked over to him.
"Someone wants to say something." Larry pointed to Jed.
Michaela glanced down at Jed.
"I just wanted to say...you were really good in there. Very brave. I'm proud to call you my friend."
Michaela smiled. "Thanks, Jed. I'm proud to call you my friend too. Maybe I'll see you around sometime."
"Oh, I'm counting on it."
With a final wave good-bye, Michaela watched the plane take off and disappear into the night. She then headed back inside the museum.
She made her way to where the battle had been fought. Sighing, she glanced around the room at the mess. Her eyes landed on the broken window.
Michaela groaned. "How am I going to explain this?"
"Sorry, I have no battle plan for that." Custer said.
"It doesn't really matter if I have a good story or not. I'm going to be fired no matter what."
"Was it worth it?"
Michalea looked at him with a smile. "It was so worth it."
Michaela had learned a lot that night. It made her realize things about her life. For one, even though she was nineteen years old she shouldn't wait to start her life. Anything could happen.
Michaela glanced over and saw Al Capone, Ivan, and Napoleon sneaking out of the room.
"Not so fast you three. You are going to help with this."
"What can we do?" Ivan asked.
"Put some of that stuff back." She pointed to the pile of gold, the chair, and some other stuff.
"We don't have much time to help. Besides, why should we help you?" Napoleon asked.
Michaela balled up her fist; Capone took a step back. Michaela then punched Napoleon in the face.
"That's why."
"We will help." Ivan said.
Capone, Ivan, and Napoleon then started putting stuff back.
"Can you trust them to be on their own?" Custer asked.
"Well, they can't do anymore damage. And there's no where for them to run. If they go outside when the sun comes up they will turn to dust."
Custer helped her clean up as much as they could. Of course, they couldn't get everything back to where it once was. When Amelia came back she also helped try to get things in order. As it got close to sunrise Michaela went outside and brought the squid in. She made sure that all the exhibits went back down to the basement.
"Well, Michaela, it was a pleasure fighting alongside you." Custer said.
"Um, yeah, you too, General Custer."
"Sorry about the window, Michaela." Amelia said.
"It's all right. I'll...think of something to say."
Once all the exhibits were back to where they belonged, Michaela quickly changed back into her night guard uniform.
By the time she made it back upstairs other employees were coming in. They were all talking about the window. Michaela groaned as she tried to figure out what she was going to say. She knew many questions would be asked.
"Hey Michaela, what did you do to the museum?" Brandon asked.
"Nothing." Which was true. Kahmunrah and his goons did all the damage...mostly anyway.
"How did that happen." He pointed to the window.
Amelia Earhart flew a plane through it. "You wouldn't believe me."
She ignored further questions as she made her way to her boss's office. As she was walking there, she saw her boss walking towards her.
"Were you coming to see me?" He asked.
Michaela nodded.
"Good."
He then turned around and the two of them walked to his office in silence. She still had no idea what she was going to say. Nothing she could come up with would sound plausible anyway.
When they arrived in the office, Michaela took her sit as her boss shut the door. He then took his seat on the other side of the desk.
"I assume we both know why you're here."
Michaela nodded.
"What happened? How did the museum get like this?"
Michaela looked at him. It took her a moment to gather her thoughts. "Some men broke in. I think they were drunk. They were destroying stuff."
"Why didn't you call the cops?"
"They, uh, they knocked me out."
"All night?"
"Yes."
Her boss raised an eyebrow. "You don't seriously expect me to believe that?"
Michaela said nothing.
"Do you know what's coming next?"
"You're going to fire me."
"I don't know what happened, but I have a feeling you're involved somehow. I am firing you."
Michaela nodded. She then stood up and headed for the door.
"Michaela, if I look through the security tapes, what will I find?"
Good question. When I looked that first night it didn't show any of the exhibits. "You'll find that I had nothing to do with this." She then left.
What Michaela said was kind of true. She didn't have anything to do with the window breaking. That was all Larry's and Amelia's fault. Then Abe Lincoln had to break it even more. And the other exhibits had been the ones to move all the stuff. Really, Michaela was innocent in this.
Michaela wasn't sure how long she had been inside, but as she made her way out of the museum she saw a group of people were already gathering by the broken window. She knew it wouldn't be long before the media showed up. Quickly, Michaela made her way from the museum before she could be questioned even more.
As soon as she made it home she flopped on her bed, not even bothering changing out of her night guard uniform.
Michaela jolted awake when she heard banging on her door. She groaned as she rubbed her eyes. She didn't even remember falling asleep.
Another pound came to her door. Michaela got out of bed. She made her way to the front of the apartment just as her mom was letting herself in.
"I was beginning to wonder if you were even here." Her mom said.
"Sorry. I was sleeping. What are you doing here?" Michaela went to her kitchen to fix herself some tea.
"I saw on the news what happened to the museum. I just wanted to make sure you were ok."
"I'm fine."
"It's still not clear what happened. The news isn't giving much about that. What did happen?"
"People tried to steal from the museum and it got out of hand."
"So they broke the window? It looks like a plane or something crashed through there. And where were you during all of this?"
"They knocked me out."
Her mother gave her a look that said she didn't believe her; Michaela just shrugged.
"How all that could happen and no one knew about it I will never know."
"It's not like we have a whole lot of people around the museum at night." Michaela said as she sat on the couch with her cup of tea. "I was knocked out so I couldn't call the police."
"Well, I'm glad you're all right." She gave her daughter a hug. "Get some sleep."
"I will, mom."
Her mom then left. Michaela sighed. She had a feeling the next few days were not going to be fun.
Michaela was right. The next few days were anything but fun. She was questioned by the police multiple times and her story never changed. She was sure the police were expecting her to change her story and that's why she had been questioned so much. Thankfully, Michaela came up with an easy story to remember.
Reporters had also tried to question her. She had given the same story she told the police and refused to answer any other questions. She had finally had enough and locked herself in her apartment. Most of the time she had her earphones in, listening to music to drown out the world.
It was on such a day that she had her earphones in, sipping her tea as she stared at the wall. So much had happened and it changed the way she thought about things. It was difficult that she couldn't tell her mom everything that happened in the museum. She knew her mother would never believe her.
Before the events at the museum, Michaela had no interest in history. She thought it was boring and never understood the point to learn about things that already happened. Now she saw history in a different light. It was all thanks to that tablet that brought the museum to life, brought history to life.
With new found interest, she finally realized what she wanted to do with her life. Opening her laptop, she began her search.
As the weeks passed, things finally started returning to normal. Both reporters and the police stopped hounding Michaela. The case of the museum was still opened, but the case wasn't first on the police's priority list especially since there wasn't any evidence on who did it.
Michaela went to check her mail one day. She groaned when she saw it was mostly bills. When she looked at the last letter, her heart stopped. It had been the letter she was waiting for. She quickly ripped it open, but as she held the paper she was too scared to look.
Taking a deep breath, she opened the letter all the way. A smile appeared on her face as she read the words. She could hardly contain her excitement as she made her way to her parents' house.
When she arrived at her parents' house, Michaela practically bounced up the driveway. Her sister, Jenna, was sitting in the grass playing with some building blocks.
"Why are you so happy?" Jenna asked.
Michaela smiled. "Come inside and I'll share my great news."
"Do you have a boyfriend?"
"No."
"Are you pregnant?"
"God, no. Mom and dad would kill me."
Jenna laughed as the two of them made their way inside.
Their father was sitting on the couch, reading a book. He put it down when he saw his daughters walk in.
"Michaela, good to see you. Hope you haven't been destroying any more museums." He smiled.
Michaela gave a little laugh. "No. I've actually stepped down to robbing banks."
"Just don't get caught. So, what brings you over?"
Before Michaela could answer, her mom walked in the room. "What about robbing banks?"
"Nothing." Michaela said. "Anyway, the reason I'm here is because I have some good news."
"You didn't get rich by robbing a bank, did you?"
"No, I didn't. I've been accepted in college."
Her mom smiled as hugged her daughter. "That's great! Why didn't you tell us you were applying for college?"
"Well, I didn't want to say anything until I knew for sure."
"What are you going for?" Her dad asked.
"I'm going to be a historian."
Jenna wrinkled her nose. "Why do you want to be that?"
"Because while I was working at the museum I discovered an interest in history. There is so much history and I want to learn everything I can and pass it on to others."
Her parents stared at her and she could understand why. She had never had an interest in history and now here she is saying she wants to have a life revolving around it.
"That's wonderful." Her dad finally said. "I knew that museum would be good for you."
"I suppose it was." Her mom smiled. "So, where is this college?"
"It's in New York."
"New York? That's so far away." Jenna said.
"Its not that far. I can come and visit. And you guys can visit me."
"But its gonna seem like forever and I'm gonna miss you."
Michaela smiled. "I'll miss you too."
"I'm so proud of you." Her mom said as she gave Michaela a hug.
"Thanks. Hopefully I will do well with my classes."
"I know you will."
"So, when do you have to be there?" Her dad asked.
"Orientation is in a few weeks."
"That doesn't give us much time."
"I know. But it's not like I'm moving to the other side of the world. I can come back for the holidays."
"And the summer, right?" Jenna asked.
"If I decide not to take summer classes."
"Why would you want to go to school during summer?"
Michaela shrugged. "To get done faster."
"Well, college will be a fun time for you." Her mom said. "Don't rush it.
"Yes, mom."
Over the next few weeks, Michaela packed what she wanted to take. The stuff she wasn't taking would either be stored at her parents house or in storage. As the time drew closer for her to leave, Michaela grew nervous. She only recently developed an interest for history. What if she was no good at her classes? She was sure that other students getting a degree in history had loved the subject for years so they would be way ahead of her. Of course, if she ever did get stuck she would know just the person to go to.
The day finally came for Michaela to leave. Her mom tried to keep it together, but they weren't halfway to the airport before she broke down in tears. Michaela didn't know what to say that she hadn't said already so she just let her mother cry.
Once they got to the airport, Jenna clung to Michaela like she was her lifeline. They had always been close and this would be the first time they would be this far apart. Michaela had promised to call her at least every other night.
"Are you sure you have everything you need?" Her mother asked.
"Yes. And if not you can either mail it to me or I'll get when I come back for Thanksgiving."
"Make new friends and learn a lot." Her mother gave her one last hug.
"Try not to destroy any more museums." Her dad said.
Michaela smiled. "Not making any promises."
He smiled back as he hugged her.
Michaela then kneeled down to Jenna. "Be good. I'll be back before you know it."
Jenna threw her arms around her big sister. "Bring me something from New York."
"Ok."
"Now boarding flight 811." And announcer said.
"Well, that's me." She waved good-bye then made her way to her flight.
Her stomach was still in knots. She would be venturing out on her own, away from her parents. She wondered if she was ready for the real world. Well, if she did get into trouble she knew she would have someone to turn to in New York. Afterall, he did say to look him up if she was ever in New York and that's what she planned on doing.
When she took her sit, Michaela glanced out the window. It wasn't long now that she would be in New York and settling in at college. Her life was finally getting started and she couldn't wait for what awaited her.

I'm planning on writing a sequel, but it might be a while before I actually post it. For one thing, I don't have a plot so if anyone has an idea or something you want me to do feel free to throw your ideas at me. Thanks again and I hope to see you all for the next story. ^_^
