The Exam
Despite the rocky beginning everyone quickly got used to Rumina's presence "Rumina let go of Naruto-dono's arm." Himawari insisted as she glared at the girl. Well…almost everyone.
Rumina, now clad in a standard school uniform revealing her teal hair in a ponytail style, glared back at Himawari. "How about you let go?" she hissed back. "As a mere retainer aren't you being quite rude by holding your lord's hand?"
"How about you both let go?" Naruto suggested with a twitching eyebrow as the others simply smiled knowingly as they watched the whole spectacle. "Class is about to begin." Both girls blushed and quickly retreated to their seats readjusting his tie Naruto sighed before gazing out at the students before him. "As you all know, Midterms begin today." He announced getting groans from everyone present. "It will be broken up into three categories: written, technique, and survival." He paused to see if anyone would ask a question. Satisfied that no one had any he continued. "The written exam will primarily cover things discussed in this class and a few key points in all of your others." He stated holding up a stack of papers. "The technique portion will test your disguises, your escapes, and your binding abilities. And finally the survival exam will be explained later. Any questions?"
When no one raised their hands Naruto grabbed the papers and began handing them out "You have two hours, starting now." He declared as the girls all turned over their exams and began going through them. It didn't take long for the girls to realize something about the exam as many of them scratched their heads unable to determine the answers.
Shikimi hummed thoughtfully as she realized the true meaning of the exam. "Not only is it about our own knowledge it's also about our ability to gather knowledge without being caught…" she mumbled to herself nearly inaudible to those around her.
"Please find a good answer Nezumi-san." Yusura whispered to a little grey mouse that slipped out from her sleeve. The mouse nodded its head and quickly disappeared trying to find good answers to steal.
"Arisu." Himeji muttered as she tried her best to match the pencil strokes of the person in front of her.
Azami smirked as she readjusted the mirror she had set up beforehand to copy Himawari's answers who seemed to be breezing through the entire exam only pausing once and a while to think. "I knew she'd be the right choice."
Rumina closed one eye and focused using a technique similar to Gaara's to view another's answers. "I dislike this sensation so much." She whispered softly as she began writing down her own answers.
While the time continued to tick down. Naruto made note of every instance he caught someone cheating but didn't say anything. "Hm…" he mused looking around. "The girls are doing fine, more or less…" he thought to himself as he observed Himawari who honestly surprised him as she simply powered through the exam. "Just how much extra studying did she do?" he wondered softly to himself.
Pulling up a chair Naruto took a seat and simply waited for the time to run out. When one hour had passed he glanced up at his students only to see Himawari with her head down taking a nap and Azami frowning softly at her. Shrugging his shoulders he cleared his throat. "One hour remains." He declared loudly as the pencil scratching became more hurried as those who hadn't gotten past the halfway mark tried to increase their pace.
Through all of that Himawari merely shifted slightly in her seat as she ignored the world around her. "Don't do that…" she whined softly before turning her head the other way and going back to sleep. Those around her merely sweat dropped as they all went back to work.
Rumina felt her eye twitch upon seeing Himawari sleep through the rest of the test. "I can't believe the nerve of that girl." She muttered to herself as Naruto walked around collecting papers. "Sleeping through such an important exam, did she even answer a question?"
"I wouldn't worry too much about Himawari." Shikimi stated simply as she made her presence known to the teal haired girl who glanced at her in surprise. "Say what you will about her actual abilities, but her knowledge is second to none about the outside world."
"Really?" Rumina questioned simply. "An elite bred ninja like you acknowledges her?"
"Not just Shikimi." Azami stated as she, Yusura, and Himeji all appeared around the two. "Of us all Himawari works the hardest to make up the difference of our pedigrees."
"Hoh?" Rumina hummed thoughtfully as she considered this information. "Then why did she sleep through the exam?"
"Because she finished." Azami stated getting surprised looks from everyone else. "I was using some mirrors to copy her answers, but by the first hour she was finished with the entire exam and went to sleep."
"What insane dedication…Arisu…" Himeji muttered while scratching her head. She shot the now awake Himawari an approving look as Naruto finished collecting all of the tests.
"Alright, you girls get a fifteen minute break!" he called out getting relieved sighs from the class. "Was there something you needed?" Naruto asked Himawari as she made her way to the front of the classroom.
"I was wondering if you wanted something to drink Naruto-dono." She explained simply with a small smile on her face.
Naruto huffed slightly and patted her on the head getting a small "HEY!" from the purple haired ninja in training. "I'm fine, thanks for asking." Shooing her away he watched as she joined Shikimi and the others in the halls before looking over the exams in his hand. "Alright for now I'll just mark down how many times each one got caught cheating." He muttered before pulling out a red pen.
As they rested the girls noticed the principle approaching them atop the pillow carried by her trusty robot. "Girls." She greeted once all the students assembled before her. "Here are your roles for your disguise exam." She declared. "In order to pass this portion of the technical exam you must have no more than three mistakes." Without waiting to see if there were any questions she turned and disappeared in a burst of speed.
Himawari blinked three times in surprise before turning her attention to the thing in her hands. "It's only a photograph…" she muttered softly before it clicked. "Wait…isn't this Rumina?" she yelped in shock as the other girls all realized what was happening.
"Hoh?" Rumina mused as she looked at her own card. "I guess this could be fun." She grinned as a bell chimed signaling the end of the break.
When the girls all returned Naruto blinked sensing something off. "Huh?" he wondered aloud as he squinted his eyes to get a better look at them all.
"Is something wrong Uzumaki-sensei?" Shikimi asked while tilting her head to the side.
Naruto hummed as he realized what was going on. "No, nothing is wrong." He stated as he stood up and put the papers in his desk. "Now then let's begin the technical exam." He stated before pulling out some rope. "To start we will begin with basic bindings." He explained. "That means these should be strong enough to hold someone who is not a ninja. So everyone pair up with the person next to you. If you don't have a partner raise your hands and you'll be paired with someone of my choosing."
As luck would have it, Himeji, disguised as Himawari, was paired with Yusura, disguised as Shikimi, Shikimi, as Azami, was paired with Rumina, as Himeji, and Himawari, as Yusura, was paired with Azami, as Rumina. Naruto hummed as he caught their attention. "Alight the person to start will be the one on my left." He declared. "Once the bindings are in place your partners will have three minutes to try and escape without the use of ninja tools or techniques. If they fail you pass, if they succeed you fail." He explained getting nods from the ninjas in training. "Try not to take too long setting up your binds." He nodded at them signaling the start of the test.
As Himawari felt Azami begin binding her she tried to think on how Yusura would act in this instance. "Ah, it's as tight as a boa constrictor!" she whined while wiggling about.
"Hoh?" Azami countered with a very Rumina like grin. "Maybe I should make it tighter?" she asked with a grin as the others showed similar results.
"Rumina forgot to say Arisu." Naruto muttered to himself as he noted down various mistakes the class was committing. "Mostly speech pattern mistakes." He mused to himself as the pairs started trying to escape.
"AH!" Himawari let out a very loud moan as Azami's finishing touch pulled the ropes flush against her most private spot. To their credit the other girls in the class barely reacted though none of them could hide the faint dust of pink that covered their cheeks. Himawari sent a small childish pout at Azami who flushed and looked away.
Naruto coughed once to beak them of the trance like state the whole incident had caused. "Alright time to switch." The girls still bound either escaped on their own or were helped by their classmates as the roles were reversed.
As a minor bit of revenge Himawari made her bindings extra tight causing Azami to flush as she struggled against the ropes. "Time's up!" Naruto declared after three minutes. "Alright now I will tie you up in three separate manners, and you must escape within three minutes using anything at your disposal." He explained as he motioned for the first student to step forward.
As the students waited for their turns Himawari and the others watched the bindings intently tying to see if it was uniform or if each technique was chosen for individuals. "As expected of Sensei." Azami muttered.
"Amazing as always Naruto-dono…Ari…!" Himeji managed to catch herself but Naruto's small smirk let them know he heard it.
As for the man himself he simply allowed his body to go through the motions as he considered everything that has been happening around him lately idly making note of all the mistakes in their disguises the class was making. "Hm…" he hummed to himself as he absentmindedly put Shikimi in turtle shell bondage getting a strained groan from the poison user as she analyzed the best means of escape.
As he used similar rope tying techniques on the others of Himawari's group he finally came back to reality when the principle made her reappearance. "Uzumaki-sensei…" she began noting the type of bondage being used on the girls. "I see the rumors of your weird habit of tying people up in sexual bondage when you're distracted is true."
Naruto blinked in surprise before looking down and noting that Himawari, still in character as Yusura, was currently working her way out of a reverse shrimp tie. Thankfully she was still fully clothed and seemed to making fair progress in escaping anyways. "I…" he scratched his head, not quite sure how this all had happened. "I suppose they are…" he muttered still thoroughly confused.
"Never the less, let us explain the survival exercise." The principle continued without missing a beat. Turning towards the students she cleared her throat before beginning. "The final exercise will be quite simple. Reach the summit of that mountain before the sun sets." Before the principle left she gave them one last warning. "Do be careful up there."
As the girls all zipped away Naruto glanced at the principle. "Are we not doing the whole, bring two scrolls to the summit, portion anymore?"
"Not enough participants this year."
"Really?"
"I also imagine that we'll have many more team ups this year as well." The principle continued as if she hadn't heard the disbelief in the blonde hero's voice.
"Well I expect that." He stated while crossing his arms. "With the way the world is nowadays you need cohesive teams, not skilled individuals."
"I'm well aware of that." She admitted as they took off towards the summit ignoring the cries of the girls who were setting off traps. "However we are here to find those talented enough to be ninja and smart enough to realize when they need help."
"Eh…" Naruto shrugged his shoulders agreeing with the sentiment if not the words said.
"The traps aren't that impressive…" Azami noted with some concern as the group proceeded through the forest with ease.
"Don't let your guard down." Shikimi noted simply as she kept an eye out for more dangerous traps. Suddenly the ground beneath Shikimi simply gave way. Himeji acted quickly and grabbed the back of Shikimi's jacket. "Thanks." Shikimi muttered earnestly even though she could've recovered just fine.
"Arisu! No problem!" Himeji grinned as she flexed her arm.
"Weird…" Yusura muttered as she inspected the hole. "It doesn't look man-made…" she muttered, poking the edges of the hole a bit "Maybe a burrow or something?" she wondered aloud
"In any case we need to keep moving." Rumina noted simply as she glanced at the Sun's position in the sky. "There's no need to stay…" there was a click as she stepped forward "…here?" she questioned as everyone looked down at her front foot.
Feeling the earth rumble the group looked up and paled seeing a large number of huge boulders rolling towards them. "This is your fault Rumina!" Himawari hissed before the team was forced to jump around to try and find cover.
"That tree over there looks safe!" Azami called out pointing to the large tree halfway to the summit from their current position. "If we can make it there I think we can wait out the landslide!"
"You head her!" Yusura shouted "Make like baboons and head for the tree!"
"How does that even make sense?" Himawari cried out but was summarily ignored by everyone else. "Hey don't just leave me here!" she called out chasing after them. As the team made their way to the large tree one of its branches cracked as Himawari landed threatening to send her into the path of the last few oncoming boulders.
"Himawari!" Azami called out in surprise as she threw her hand out and manage to grab Himawari's wrist and pulled her close. "Falling over onto her own Branch Azami breathed a sigh of relief as she hugged Himawari closer.
"Hm?" Himawari muttered in surprise after the adrenaline started wearing off from her near death. Ignoring everyone else's questions as to her well-being she looked Azami in the eyes and lightly pushed her shoulders back so that they could speak without being a hair's breadth away. "Azami…why is there something hard poking my inner thigh?"
There was a sudden silence as Azami slowly realized what exactly she was talking about. Face turning red Azami tried to explain as Shikimi and the others sans Rumina all began to laugh. "Azami is actually a ninja from the Boy's school." Shikimi explained for Himawari and Rumina who blinked in surprise.
"You knew?" Azami screamed causing the others to chuckle at his expense.
"Yes, we all knew from the start." Yusura giggled as she glanced at Azami coyly. "Isn't it strange for a student at the girl's school to get dressed separately or to avert their eyes whenever someone is getting changed?"
"Or for them to have such a boyish way of speaking?" Shikimi added amusement clear in her eyes.
"Anyways Azami, are you going to hug Himawari all day? Arisu?" Himeji questioned causing the two to separate as if scalded.
"You two can work it out later." Rumina reminded them. "We have a test to finish." Himawari and Azami shook their embarrassment off quickly and nodded their heads in agreement. Checking to make sure the boulders were gone the team quickly began heading up the remainder of the mountain making sure to avoid any triggers.
Upon reaching the summit the team noticed Naruto's grinning mug. "Congratulations!" he cheered happily. "I hear Himawari and Azami have admitted their feelings for each other!"
"What?" the two teens questioned turning red in the face.
"Now I don't know if you've gone through this yet so I'll just assume you haven't." suddenly the two looked nervous as Naruto's grin threatened to split his face. "I think it's time we had a…talk." Suddenly a hand clamped down on both of their shoulders.
"Wait I've already had this conversation!" Azami shouted as he tried to pull away. Himawari seemed to realize what was going to happen as well as she subtly began working off her shirt in order to escape.
"Don't worry, you're all getting it." Naruto declared happily as a clone appeared behind the others and clamped down on them as well. As the teens kicked and screamed to be let go the Principle revealed herself from her hidden position calmly sipping her tea.
"Well now…" she mused ignoring the pleas for help coming from the elites of her school. "It certainly seems like I made the right choice in bringing him here."
