He didn't care for the anguish
resting on his tongue
Hated, the weakness the pitiful words
evoked.
His heart burned
like the streetlamps flame
He watched the snow
swirl like cotton through the air,
and ached.

The carriage quaked about her,
his words echoed in her head,
"You're never coming back?"
The weight of it hung about her neck.
She felt bound,
tied by ropes and strings,
invisible but sure
Something was pulling her heart from her.
