Author's Note: This is my first Glee Fan fiction and I'm very excited! Blaine is my favorite character, and lately I've been so obsessed with reading about him I thought it would be great to write my own.

Overheard

You know when you don't mean to overhear something, but you do anyway? It's like, he hadn't been eavesdropping. He had just been at his locker. Just because he had been able to hear everything Blaine and Cooper Anderson were talking about doesn't mean meant to. Finn was innocent here. Well, maybe he stuck around to hear the rest once he got curious, but still. Come on.

"I haven't seen you in years! Why do you think you can just… show up?" Blaine whispers furiously.

"Come on, Blaine don't be like that…"

"You abandoned me! I thought you actually cared. But when I needed you… you left!"

"The doctors told me you had a 5% chance of living, Blaine. I didn't want to stick around and watch you die. Then you survived and just…"

"Just what? Did you wish I hadn't survived? Did you wish they had killed me?"

"No! I just couldn't face you. Knowing I had given up on you…"

Blaine snorted. "So you just left me there with nobody who cared to help me get through that?"

"I'm sorry! I just thought I should have been there to protect you in the first place."

Blaine's voice was dangerously low. "I thought I was weak. That you left because I was too pathetic for you. Because your brother was a fag who couldn't defend himself and almost died from getting beaten up."

"I'm sorry Blaine. I'm so sorry. I didn't know…" Cooper's voice was filled with emotion so strong that Finn could feel it himself. It was a horrible feeling, and Finn imagined that it was Kurt who was telling him this for a moment. And god it hurt so bad.

"I know." Blaine sighs dejectedly. "It's just… I wanted so bad to blame somebody other than then the guys who beat me up. And the only other people were you and me."

"I should have been there. I should have come picked you up. I should have protected you."

"You couldn't have known." Blaine whispers.

It's then that Finn drops his phone from his hand. It clatters to the floor with a sound that seems louder than thunder in that moment. Cooper and Blaine both snap their heads towards him.

"Finn…" Blaine says.

"Sorry." He says, much too fast. "I just… I didn't mean to…"

He leaps forward, grabs the pieces of his phone that have scattered all over the floor and runs in the opposite direction. It wasn't his fault that he just happened to be able to hear everything. Right?
