Abby sat down on his bed. She had always imagined it differently when she would confess her feelings to him. Had he really asked her why she had kissed him? She always thought that he would know that she felt more to him than just friendship, but obviously she had been wrong. Abby sighed. She was in a really fantastic situation now. She had hurt McGee so deeply, a thing she never wanted to do, she should have never started dating with him because her heart was never in it for real. And Gibbs? She didn't know how he felt. He said it wasn't that easy. What the hell should this mean? Of course it wasn't easy! They were drunk when they slept together and now she was expecting twins, but still, he hadn't said a word how he felt about her. Maybe there were also signs he wasn't interested in her, maybe he just wanted her for a night, but no, she couldn't believe he was like that. Probably he just needed time like always. And she needed to do something, otherwise she would go insane. Abby went to his garden and started to take of his plants although the light from the lamp wasn't that bright.

When Gibbs arrived back upstairs he saw Abby working in his garden. This reminded him of Shannon, she loved to work in the garden and especially if she was upset. Suddenly Gibbs heard his front door opening and someone walking in.

"Hello son!" Jackson greeted his son

"Dad?! What are you doing here?" Gibbs asked astonished. It was in the middle of the week and nearly midnight.

"Just came to visit my son, but it seems I'm interrupting something? Or why is Abby working in your garden?" Jackson asked

"Well yes and no, it's complicated Dad and I don't wanna talk about it right now. I'm going to prepare your room." And with that Gibbs vanished upstairs.

Meanwhile Jackson went to the garden.

"Hello my dear!" Jackson greeted Abby and she came running and hugging him.

"It's so nice to see you Jackson!" Abby exclaimed

"I heard I'm interrupting something complicated." Jackson stated and he could see a sadness appearing in her eyes.

"Well, yes and no. But I don't want to speak about it." Abby answered and Jackson had to smile, nearly the same words like his son, he had to find out what was happening. Maybe he should leave them alone.

"I'm tired Abby, I think I'm going to bed and we'll talk a lot tomorrow." Jackson suggested

"That sounds good. Well then have a good night." Abby kissed him on the cheek and went back to the flowers.

Ten minutes later Gibbs arrived downstairs. His father had taken the guest room and he had prepared his bed for Abby, he'd take the couch, as always. Abby also went inside, feeling a little better. But now they were standing face to face and no one had an idea what to talk about or what to say.

"You can take my bedroom." Gibbs offered Abby "I take the couch."

"Thanks, but you can… I mean… you can also sleep with me…I mean…take the bed….I'll keep my hands to myself….I promise." Abby rambled, the words coming out differently than they were meant to be.

"No, thanks Abbs, I think we need a bit distance." Gibbs answered

"Distance?" Abby asked as if she wasn't sure she had understood him correctly "Are you running again Gibbs?" Abby asked him

"Running? From what?" Gibbs demanded an answer

"Running from me? from responsibility? from love? I don't know?" Abby was now shouting "Was it just a fling with me? Is that how you really feel? You didn't say a word if you even feel something for me." Abby started to pace again, the pregnancy made her become angry quickly.

"Yes Abigail! I have feelings for you…but I don't know if I can do it again…have a family...and protect you all!" Gibbs shouted too.

"So, what shall I do now? Do you want me to make an abortion?" Abby tried to calm herself down. "I'll keep the twins and if you aren't ready for it, I'm gonna raise them myself!"

"No Abbs! Just give me time, please!" Gibbs said calmly "you just told me today."

Abby nodded and suddenly tears were spring to her eyes and she started to cry. Gibbs went over to her and took her in her arms, trying to soothe her like he always did. Five minutes later Abby felt finally better.

"Please come with me to bed and can you just hold me?" Abby pleaded

"Fine!" Gibbs answered and led Abby upstairs.

What the two didn't know was that Jackson had heard the entire conversation and now knew what he had to do. He was happy that it had happened, even if he didn't know the circumstances. He had known from the very first moment he'd seem them together that Abby was the right woman for Gibbs, but his son always needed a lot of time to recognize something like that. Tomorrow he had to make a plan how to get them together.

Abby and Gibbs crawled into bed but instead of holding her he kept distance. Ten minutes later Gibbs was nearly asleep he felt Abby rushing to the bathroom, starting to puke. He went to her and took care of her hair that it didn't come into the way. When she was ready she felt exhausted and Gibbs told her to wait there a moment. Five minutes later he reappeared and brought her a cup of peppermint tea, to calm her stomach. Abby looked liked a picture of misery but for him she still was the most beautiful woman in the world. After Abby had drunk the cup of tea, he guided her back over to the bed and pulled her close so that they were spooning and a few minutes later felt Abby relax. Maybe tomorrow would be a better day, maybe then he would be ready to show his feelings and that he cared, maybe then he would be ready for a new family.
