Chapter 18 – Future

Five years later

Five years later and the Jareau-Prentiss household is still going strong. Happiness and laughter present constantly in their house. Well and the casual cry who was inevitable when you have little kids running around all day. But other than that everything is amazing, even more than amazing.

Two years ago, they moved from their condo into this beautiful house. They definitely needed more bedrooms and space where the kids could run and play. So when they saw the huge back yard, they fell in love with the house. They have been talking about moving into a house even before the twins were born, but after Jennifer got pregnant they had no choice.

The twins were two years old when Emily and JJ decided that now the time is good to add more members to their family. Their careers were doing great – JJ became a profiler. And they didn't want the children to have huge gaps between their ages, so it was definitely a good time to add more to the mix. Well, they knew it will be challenging with all kids being under five, but with the support from the team and their families, they were not worried.

Luckily, it didn't take them a lot of attempts of the in vitro procedure before JJ got pregnant. They were very surprised when they found out that JJ is carrying twins. It didn't even cross their minds that it could happen again. Well, JJ did promise Hotch and Dave that the next time they will be the godfathers. Later on, when they found out that they were expecting another boy and girl, they were more than ecstatic. They were just over the moon. But the only thing that mattered was the babies to be well. And that's how Scott and Amelia came to this world.

And now Alexander and Samantha are five, and Scott and Amelia are three years old. Alex and Sam are blondes with blue eyes. Scotty and Amy have dark hair and also blue eyes. Emily adores the fact that everyone has blue eyes. They are her weak spot. When she sees them staring into her, she cannot say no to anyone. That is why often JJ has to be the bad cop. But unfortunately for her in that case all of the kids and including Emily join forces against her and she not always manages to resist them.

Emily was finishing some work in the office when she realized that the house was awfully quiet and that was not a good sign. And the last time she checked up on JJ, she was having a bath, so she better go find the kids before they have turned the place upside down. She first looked in their rooms, but they were not there. Next she went downstairs and when she walked pass the glass door leading to the backyard she saw them. All of the kids, plus JJ, were running and screaming with delight. Everyone was armed with water guns. Who doesn't love playing with them in the summer?

Emily stopped and watched her family having fun. She loved doing that. Just watch them laughing and be so careless, not worrying about a thing, enjoying spending time together. Times like this the only thing Emily can do is be grateful that she has this amazing family. And that everyone is well. Five years had passed since Jennifer abduction and now they don't even think about it anymore. She is just very thankful that she is not alone. Emily's thoughts were interrupted by her wife and kids, waving at her to join them. She didn't waste time to think about it, she immediately went outside.

"Hey, you. Took you long enough to join us. I thought you will stay there forever, just watching us." JJ teased her.

"Yeah, mommy. We were waiting for you." Alex said.

"Don you wanna play wit us, mommy?" Amy asked.

"Of course that I want. But you were all so cute running around that I couldn't help myself and stopped to watch you." Emily explained.

"Here, mommy. That's your gun. It's loaded." Sam said and handed her the gun.

"Will you be in my team, mommy?" Scotty asked.

Before Emily had the chance to answer the question JJ said, "Mothers against children." And she aimed her water gun at them.

Immediately the kids ran away screaming. Emily and JJ's eyes briefly met, they nodded at each other and ran away after the two sets of twins. The whole family played together until the darkness came and it was time for dinner. A few hours later and everyone was gone to bed.

"Today was fun." Emily commented.

"Fun and exhausting." JJ added.

"Mhm…" Emily agreed and turned to kiss her wife passionately, "I love you no matter what." She smiled.

"I love you, too, no matter what." JJ returned the smile and they kissed once again.

They both fell asleep still with the smiles on their faces, knowing that whatever the future bring them they will love each other with every fiber of their being and they will be always next to each other. No matter what.
