Plastic Hearts

Because plastic hearts don't break,

Preface.

It was raining when they met.

Green eyes, bright and friendly. Pink hair up in a messy bun, stray strands framing her angelic face. Lips drawn up in a smile. She was radiant as the sun, the epitome of warmth even with the cold torrent of rain falling around her.

Black eyes, cold and empty. Black hair strewn messily around, droplets of rain glistening like diamonds. Pale lips pressed tightly together in a disapproving gesture. He was beautiful and mysterious, like the moon with its many secrets.

He was the moon, and she was the sun. He was ice, and she was fire. The exact opposites, repelling each other with every fiber of their being.

"Hey Sasuke-teme. You know that opposites attract right?"

"Shut up dobe."

In a few years, Sasuke Uchiha would begrudgingly admit that Naruto Uzumaki had been right. That this girl, with her small, fragile stature and her strange pink hair, would become the world to him.
But on this day, with a storm looming on the horizon, he did not know that. He did not know that the girl standing before him would impact his life in a way that no one ever had.

"Have you ever thought about the two of us?"

"Of course I have Sasuke, you're my best friend."

"I mean… about the two of us being…y'know, in a relationship."

Silence.

"Huh. That's unusual, you've never mentioned that before…What brought this on?"

More silence.

"Sasuke?"

"Sakura…I think I'm falling for you."

The rain fell in large, cold drops. A lone leaf, carried by the gust of harsh wind, danced in the space between them. The pink haired girl smiled again, and he suddenly felt his heart skip a beat. Something that never ever happened with Uchiha Sasuke.

So when she stepped forward and introduced herself as Haruno Sakura, he took her hand without hesitation, offering a smirk in return.

And in that moment. The story of Uchiha Sasuke and Haruno Sakura began.
