I just randomly wrote this. I don't really know why, it just came out.

Cheers!

Perfection/Imperfection

Perfection.

She had always been chasing perfection in those mysterious ebony eyes; In that hair as black as night.

She couldn't bring herself to look at another; Couldn't bring herself to see what was truly there.

Instead, she saw what wasn't: Perfection.

Skill in the way he fought with an ease that needed no practice. Beauty in the long shadow he cast in the fading moonlight. Bravery in the face of a threat that sent others running.

She set him on an unreachable pedestal, never to be spoke ill of, never to be spoken truthfully of.

Instead, she saw what she wanted: Perfection.

When he left her, left the village, left them all, it was with perfection. He was the victim, only doing what he felt necessary, following his own path, finding his own peace.

And when he was replaced by another with ebony eyes and hair as black as night, she saw only one thing: Imperfection.

Incompetence in the way he interacted with others. Unattractive with his fake smile and forced happiness. Cowardly as he hid in the shadows, silent and watching.

Her contempt was not well concealed as she taunted and chastised him, never speaking anything other than the truth in its most blatant form.

Nothing he ever did was anything more than imperfection.

When he pulled her out of harm's way, it could've been faster, gentler.

When he walked home with her, she didn't need any protection.

When he complimented her, he was being sarcastic.

When he said he loved her, he didn't mean it.

He would never stand up to the other, never be as perfect as he was. He could never compare to the perfection that was, Uchiha Sasuke.

In the end, he was just Sai, sincere and imperfect, and maybe that's exactly what Sakura needed.
