All it took was one look. One look at the girl walking towards him, and he was gone. Heart beating fast, palms sweating, heat rising to his cheeks and a fluttering in his stomach. He;d never felt like this before. Never experienced the heart stopping moment, but there it was. Happening right as he watched her step forward, a look of determination in her eye. He'd seen a lot of girls and been with a lot of girls, but none of them could hold a flame to her. None of the other altered faces of the Capitol or any of the other girls in the district. She was beautiful. Pure and simple, nothing altered, nothing changed, natural.

How had he never seen her before? Never noticed her face in the sea of others? Or maybe he had. Maybe he'd always seen her, but it took for her name to be called for him to truly see her. Slow and steady. One foot in front of the other, and she made her way up the steps. Her face set, clear of any emotion, only her eyes gave her away. Showed the fear she was trying so hard to hide in front of the cameras, in front of the whole nation.

They began to raise up for the anthem, the victors chosen. One boy, one girl. Ready to be sent of to kill or be killed. But his mind was clouded, the music never registered, all he could think about was her. He felt the overwhelming need to, want, to hold her. To protect her from the harms of the games. But how could he? What could he do? It was beyond his power.

Smiles and waves. Goodbye for another games, he thought. The doors slide shut in front of them, sealing them from the outside world, ready to take them to the Capitol, to death. He looked at her then, really looked at her for the first time up close. Dark flowing hair tangled from the wind and eyes that looked right at him, like they were seeing everything he tried to hide.

"Annine." She held out her hand to him, a small cautious smile on her lips. He wrapped his larger hand around hers, holding it for longer then necessary. "Finnick." he said, immediately feeling foolish, 'obviously she know who you are, you idiot!'

She let a small laugh escape her lips. It was that small thing that sealed the deal. He was going to get her out, he was going to make
