"Oi, Loverboy." Gregson's voice ran clear through Lestrade's office, causing the latter of the two men to drive their head into the wood of his desk in resignation.
"What do you want?" Greg grunted, his head lifting from the desk to see Gregson put on a look of mock affrontation.
"I don't appreciate the tone," Gregson grinned, sliding into one of the chairs opposite Lestrade's desk, just as Hopkins drifted in through the doorway with a smirk decorating his face.
"Oh God," Lestrade mumbled, dragging the heel of his palm across his face in frustration.
"why the long face?" Hopkins asked, feigning sympathy as he arched an eyebrow "given what we hear, we'd figure you'd be pretty…satisfied now-a-days."
Gregson smacked the back of his fellows head as a reprimand before contributing "get your mind out of the gutter man, Greggies only ickle." He paused to grin at Lestrade "he's probably just excited over holding Dan's hand."
Greg glowered at the two snickering men before demanding "how'd you find out anyway?"
"Sergeant Donovan," Gregson admitted between breaths "so tell me, did he ask you or did you ask him?" Hopkins waggled his eyebrows to accompany Gregson's question.
"For Fucks sake, I'm not some bloody blushing eight year old, excited over their first rudding boyfriend." there was a moment of silence before a symphony of 'aww"s filled the office.
"You call him your boyfriend? how cute." Hopkins simpered.
Greg fought the urge to reach across the desk and land a fist on the side of the other man's face, (a struggle he was beginning to lose) when a knock echoed from the entrance of the room.
Greg could have shot someone.
"Urhm, Forensics asked me to drop off this," Dimmock explained, waving the folder in his hands lightly in the air to draw attention towards it.
Greg cursed at the two men sat across from him who were smothering their laughter behind their clenched fists, and (struck with fresh determination) he rose fom his seat and strode towards were Dan was stood.
Ignoring Dan's grunt of surprise, Greg wound one hand around the younger man's tie and hauled his closer until their bodies were perfectly adjacent.
Luxuriating in the startled intake of breath, Greg shot the two seated inspectors a quick glare, before pressing his lips against Dan's.
Dan was unresponsive for a few moments, taken by surprise no doubt, before (irrespective of the audience) he responded with equal vigour.
Greg well aware that Gregson and Hopkinds could see the exchange of tongues, but he couldn't quite bring himself to care as one of Dan's hands rose tentatively to his neck and drew him in ever closer.
Eventually, Greg pulled back and, with a last kiss pressed against Dan's lips, Greg returned to his seat folder in hand.
Dan stood by the door, his feet unwilling to move as his mind was left blanked and dazed, but a few moments later he was stuttering a goodbye (his eyes finally falling wide-eyed on the two inspectors) and fled from the room.
Lestrade was sure that this would probably fall under 'Inappropriate behaviour' in the work place, and he had probably broken all manner of rules, but it was worth it just to see Gregson and Hopkins' faces.
