Chapter 21
Third Person pov
Percy arrived in a dark cavernous room which had industrial lighting all around the ceiling. The chamber was at least 10 feet high and the walls were lined with a thin sheet of silver metal that seemed to glow, this and the lighting both lit up the whole place, no darkness escaped. In the middle of the chamber was a huge round table that had 12 seats around it and a jug of crystal clear water and glasses. Three seats were currently occupied and Percy quickly walked to join them as he didn't want to delay things any further. He went to the opposite side of the table so that the three beings already present could face him and he could face them.
"I hope you are well Percy? You have a tuff mission ahead of you" stated the figure clad in shiny blue armour. Underneath the armour the figure wore a parka which seemed to blend into his surroundings.
"I am well Lelantos" was Percy's reply as he sat down.
"Why in all that is godly are you two speaking in such formal tones!" exclaimed the being next to him. The Being had long brown hair which was as straight as straw and ended just above the middle of her back; she had stunning blue eyes and a healthy glow. Also although she may come across as a bit loud and clumsy she had a brain that could rival Athena herself. Percy just rolled his eyes at her and before he could speak the other being spoke.
"Ah come on Hygieia, if they want to act like two old men then let them! Besides we all know that it is Lelantos that turned the boy this way." The being was also a woman but she had blue hair that seemed to create a feeling of calm and her eyes were green with a pink rim. Everything about her excreted calmness and patience and just by being near her everyone felt relaxed.
"Ah come on Sophrosyne, you know you love it when me and Lelantos go all formal and everything and you too Hygieia" Percy final spoke and this turned the faces of the two women pink. The two men both started to laugh their heads off at their reaction.
Percy was introduced to the three godly beings two days after he was told he would become an assassin, as his dad and Chaos thought that if they wanted the best they needed to get him the best teachers as well. Hygieia was the goddess of health and now you must be thinking why would the guy with a body that made girls faint need to be any healthier? Well health is not all about how you look it is also about how you feed your body the right stuff. It is also about the health of mind, if you have a healthy brain then you have an even healthier body. The goddess taught Percy this and taught the young immortal what he needed to do to have a healthy body and which foods were perfect for achieving maximum potential. Having a healthy brain and body was essential in becoming an assassin, it meant that you could make decisions quicker and act when needed quicker also.
Lelantos was the Titan of air but more importantly stalking prey. He taught Percy how to blend in with his surroundings and being absolute silent when doing anything whist on a mission. He was taught by the Titan to always think like the enemy is his prey and that it is either he dies, or the enemies die.
Sophrosyne was the goddess of moderation, self-control, temperance, restraint, and discretion and taught him the importance of patience. Everyone knew that Percy was not the most patient person in the world and this could prove to be dangerous whilst on a mission. If he is too rash and inpatient whilst on a mission then he could blow his chance at killing his prey, which something he cannot do.
A bright flash brought the group out of their antics and when they looked in the direction of the flash they saw two beings. Chaos and Poseidon both stepped forward towards the table at which they were all situated and sat down on either side of Percy.
"Ok Percy, are you ready for your mission?" Asked chaos to which Percy could only nod. He was a bit apprehensive as this was going to be his first ever mission and to make matters worse it was going to be his first time off the planet since his arrival here.
"You will be fine my boy, I am certain you will achieve your targets for this mission as long as you remember your training. You also should know that whatever happens I still love you and no one will think less of you if something bad happens. You are the first of your kind and this is a learning curve for everyone" Poseidon said to try and calm his son. Percy nodded and smiled at his dad. He got up to leave and so the others got up as well to wish him luck; the two goddesses gave him hugs, they had become like sisters over the last couple of months he had known them, and so did his father. Chaos and Lelantos both gave him manly handshakes and wished him luck on the first ever, assassin mission of the Protogenoi. He stepped through a portal that Chaos had created for him and just before he stepped all the way through he gave one final smile to his family and friends and pulled the hood up on his jumper as to mask his face. No one knew how long the mission would take; it could take a day or a month even. Who knew when he would return?
As he stepped out of the portal, he was on another planet. He knew its name was Nation and that it had been under a tight, monarchy rule for thousands of years. The leaders were ruthless and each generation got worse and worse. They treated all the people like slaves and allowed no one to prosper who wasn't in their circle. They ruled the planet with fear and no one stood up to them till about 20 years ago. Civil war has been raging through the land for the past 20 years and this has created huge quantities of death. Both sides had suffered greatly but the rebels were worse off, they didn't have enough weapons to supply their cause and the enemy seemed to never run out of soldiers, they just keep getting them from somewhere. Percy looked around the cave that the portal had dropped him off in, it was damp and dark and the ceiling was low which posed a problem as stalagmites descended from the ceiling and were only a inches away from impaling Percy through the top of the head. He saw light streaming in from the far side of the cave and carefully started to walk towards it. Soon he found his way out of the cave and was momentarily blinded by the sun as his pupils adjusted to the amount of light. His sight quickly cleared and he realised that he was surrounded by people who were pointing swords at him, to which he immediately held up his arms. He noticed they were not wearing any uniforms and so that meant they were part of the rebellion. Movement caught his eye as a person wearing a hood that covered their face moved through the rebels to the front. As the person got to the front they took of their hood which revealed long, flowing black hair. The woman seemed to be around 25 years old and she had beautiful, forest green eyes. It was a rare colour and at first sight you would of thought her to be a child of Demeter, but Chaos explained to him that there was no gods residing on this planet. Also her eyes held tremendous amount of pain in them, despite having a unwavering expression on her face. She had dark, low circles underneath her eyes indicting sleepless nights. She looked at Percy curiously,
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" Her voice was as cold as stone but there was something underneath it.
"I was sent here by Chaos to kill the leader of this planet" I stated. Chaos already told me that he had spoken to the rebels and they knew of my coming here. The woman just kept her eyes on me
"That did not answer my entire question, who are you?" She asked again.
"Ah right, my name is Percy Jackson, Commander and first assassin of the army of the Protogenoi and Chaos. May I ask who you are?" I asked her this time.
"My name is Skylar Raine, leader of the Rebels, now we must get going to our camp. We will start planning tomorrow for future attacks." She suddenly turned around and walked off in the opposite direction the cave was and was closely followed by the ten or so rebels that came with her. Percy quietly and quickly caught up with the group, a bit shocked at their brief talk and her condescending tone.
The group had been walking non-stop for an hour and were currently marching up a hill that to Percy seemed to just carry on rising. He wasn't tired or anything it was just the fact that he hated walking, jogging and running was great but walking was just too slow. He carried on walking though not uttering a word to any of the rebels as they all had straight, stone like expressions; never faltering. It reminded the assassin of the Second Titan war when the entire population of Camp Half-Blood had driven home after the war had ended against the evil Titans. It was the same aura of pain and loss but it seemed more intense to the young immortal with these rebels than with his fellow Demi-gods. He shook that off and just looked ahead to see the hill start to level off a bit and within 10 minutes they had reached the top, breaking through the foliage, shocked at what he saw. In front of him, was a massive plain which was covered in white, pitch up tents. The flat land was about the size of two football pitches and the area was surrounded by woodland. He noticed that his escorts were half way to the centre of the plain were a tent the 10 times the size of the others was put up so he ran to catch up, not wanting to be left behind because of his day dreaming. It felt good stretching his legs a little whilst running, his muscles were tense as they were used to going at speed. He caught up to them just as they were about to enter the massive tent, which Percy could only assume was the command post. They all walked in together through the flap and Percy was lost for words for the second time in the space of 5 minutes. The hall was decorated elaborately with gold and other jewels which made the inside of the tent glow. Crystals were also hung on the walls but they were not like any Percy had seen before as they emitted such vast quantities of light. There were four of these crystals on each wall of the tent and they were enough to illuminate the entire tent. Percy must have been staring as he heard laughter, quickly snapping out of it he faced the centre to find a man, in his early fifties, late forties sitting on a chair made entirely out of diamonds.
"I guess you like our Command tent assassin?" asked what Percy guessed to be the leader of the rebels. He could only nod in reply and he laughed once more.
"How did you find enough of his stuff to make these things" Percy asked the man honestly. He heard a few snickers from behind him and turned around to see his escorts snickering at the question. He looked at them questionably but after a while turned around to their leader for an explanation. The leader gave them a hard stare before telling them to get out and stop snickering. The soldiers quickly got out of the tent and once they had the man turned to Percy and smiled.
"Let me first introduce myself, my name is Tiberius Skull and I am the leader of the rebels, just like my father was. To answer your question, our planet is abundant of these metals that you think are so rare and I guess that the planet that you originated from?" Tiberius asked him. Percy nodded in reply and this got him thinking. If there are worlds with abundant amounts of materials then could there be a planet made of water? Would this water be like the ones on Earth? If there was one thing he missed the most from Earth it was defiantly the sea. The sea on Chaos's planet was good but it was no comparison to the one on Earth. Something about the water there was so relieving and calming to him, that he actually missed the feel of the sea when swimming in it or just walking by the shore on the beach and the water just touching your feet. He made a mental note to check out the sea here when the whole assassin job was finished. He was brought out of his trance by the leader of the rebels. "May I know your name?" He asked Percy after smiling at him first.
"My name is Percy, Percy Jackson." He replied which made Tiberius smile.
"Well Percy it must have been a long day for you, if you would like I could get someone to show you your tent for the time you spend here?" Percy just nodded in reply and the leader whistled. Almost immediately someone stepped in through the flaps and it was the girl from earlier, Skylar. "You must have met my daughter, Skylar, from when you arrived here. Skylar dear please show Percy to his tent." Skylar nodded and looked at Percy with the same emotionless eyes, she walked out and he followed. The rebel leader smiled as the boy walked out and sat back down on his chair, hoping to the creator that he was the one to end this war, so that he could bring stability back to his beloved world.
