"Now This is a Memory"

"You know, that gym is where we had our junior prom, six months ago," Ron informed Kim as they exited the school building.

"You're still going on about it?" Kim said, sounding a little exasperated.

"It just irks me that you've regained all your memories except of us dating," Ron replied. He supposed that he should be glad she remembered how to go on missions, as a result of participating in cheer practice. Re-experiencing things really did help …

Kim was still walking toward the school parking lot, when suddenly she felt Ron grasp her arm and pull her into a sort of alcove outside the school building.

"Ron, what are you doing?" Kim asked, confused and impatient.

"Okay," Ron said, holding his hands up palm outward. "I'm going to do something that will seem crazy, and I'm asking you to please not kill me, because I have a reason for doing it."

Kim blinked at him. "Of course I won't kill you. You're my best friend," she said simply.

Ron nodded, because it was true. They were best friends, but their relationship and feelings were even deeper than. "Do you trust me?"

"Yes."

Suddenly, with a burst of the confidence that he had only gained after winning her heart, Ron grasped Kim's shoulders and kissed her full on the lips.

Kim's eyes widened in shock. He was kissing her – Ron was kissing her – and she didn't even know whether this was her first kiss!

But actually, he wasn't bad. Kim closed her eyes, and found herself kissing him back.

That was when she started to remember.

She first kissed Ron in front of her locker. Wade appeared on the computer screen, but neither of them acknowledged him. Later, she wondered just how much her feelings had been induced by the Moodulator.

The next time they kissed was at the junior prom, underneath a disco ball, with a beautiful friendship/love song playing in the background. Their classmates disappeared around them; the only real things were the two of them. They were shy, but they had known each other for so long that they felt comfortable with each other; and strangely, when their lips met, it felt natural and right.

Kim rushed into Ron's arms when she had turned from stone back into flesh. Their kiss was only interrupted by Hana climbing up between them. There was so much pride and love between the three of them, more than they could put into words.

Ron didn't want this kiss to end; he was afraid that if it hadn't worked, Kim would be angry with him for making such a move on her. What if she felt betrayed? What if he destroyed their remaining friendship?

It was with great reluctance that Ron pulled away, looking warily at Kim. "Well?" he said.

Kim's expression was tender. "Oh, Ron … I'm sorry."

Ron was confused: for a moment he thought she meant that she was turning him down, or that she understood his intent but it hadn't worked. But then, she was taking his face in her hands and guiding him into another kiss. This time Ron was the surprised one, but he couldn't have been happier.
