Prompt: If you're still taking prompts, is it okay if I request some Makorra, Korra going into the Avatar State and angst/comfort in the cooldown of it? (from tumblr)

Disclaimer: I do not own Korra, Equalists, Bolin, Mako, the Avatar State, or any other elements of Legend of Korra you may find in this story. This story is for my own amusement (and now yours). Please enjoy!

All of my prompts, currently, are received on my rp account on tumblr, freshkorra. If you would like to request a prompt, please visit that page, or private message me with your prompt directly.

Korra couldn't believe it. There were Equalists all around them. Even with Mako and Bolin fighting beside her, they didn't stand a chance against the few dozen men. The Equalists had been growing in numbers since the first 4 or so showed up in the dark park where the Fire Ferrets had been enjoying the night. At first it wasn't a threat, just a few guys talking smack, but then the backup came.

"What are we gonna do?" Bolin cried out.

"We're gonna fight!" Korra answered, and fight they did.

For another twenty minutes they fought, and they even took a couple of the Equalists down. But that's when it happened. Korra watched while two Equalists each electrocuted Mako and Bolin, effectively taking them out.

She couldn't take it anymore. Enough was enough. She felt the anger and despair and determination building within her. She wanted to lash out. She was going to lash out. Against the Equalists. They would pay for what they'd done to Bolin. To Mako. To her.

Korra was no longer aware of what was happening. She was aware only of her emotions. They flooded her mind, her sight, her hearing, she couldn't even speak. Something else was controlling her.

Mako saw through blurry vision Korra's shape, fending off almost forty Equalists, effortlessly. He could tell, barely, that she was bending. All four elements. When had she mastered air? She hadn't. He must have been hallucinating. This theory seemed more and more reasonable as he noticed Korra's eyes were some strange glowing white. Yes. He was definitely hallucinating.

He watched the action of his hallucination unfold, and he slowly regained his strength, only to find that it wasn't a hallucination at all. By the time he had returned to his full health, most of the Equalists either lay unconscious on the ground or had run off, and he realized that he wasn't hallucinating at all. "Korra?" he asked, getting up as best he could as he gripped his torso.

The young avatar who had bended herself into the air, slowly floated down. She didn't answer him. She nearly collapsed onto the ground, but Mako just barely managed to catch her. However, in doing so, they both tumbled to the ground, Mako breaking her fall. She was… weeping? But why?

He cradled her in his lap, unsure entirely of how this was supposed to work, or even why he was doing it. This seemed like something more Bolin was designed for. He held her shoulders in one arm, his other hand caressing her forehead and hair. He remembered watching a mother try to calm her child in a park after a bee had stung him one day. He tried emulating that.

Whatever he was doing, it must have been working because eventually Korra returned to herself, realizing that she had somehow ended up in Mako's lap. When she saw he was alive, she burst into fresh tears, and Mako squeezed her tighter.

"You're alive!" she exclaimed happily, and Mako realized her tears were of joy this time. "What happened?"

Mako grinned. "You kicked ass."
