So this is pretty much a short little emotion/thought story...

"And as the elevator opened, sunlight shone onto my skin. Free, at last."

I sighed in relief. That took a long time. I saved the document and shut down my computer. Fate has been good to me. Even if it did ditch me in an underground facility run by homicidal computers, Fate led me out and now I have my own life.

I smiled and spun around in the black swivel chair. Simple joys of life, like spinning on chairs on a beautiful autumn day, aren't enjoyed so much by normal people, but if you lived in an evil Enrichment Center for most of your life, you learn to enjoy them.

I closed my eyes and noticed something. No wonder! I turned my head toward my radio, which just happened to be playing the song that always managed to make me gleeful.

I wish I could sing to it. If you can't open your mouth, you have everything trapped inside of you. All of your emotions, all your past, and all of your knowledge, just stuffed inside of you with no way of getting out. I wish I could tell the people here about me, with my voice instead of through typed words.

I looked back at the computer that held all of my life in a simple story. They would label it under fiction, not the truth. The people here looked at me once and just labeled me a mute lunatic that had lost her memory. I sighed. Never would they know real danger, real pain, real betrayal. They are safe.

I slid back over to my computer and opened it again. Maybe they would believe me. Maybe they would at least publish this, and some people could know the truth.

I moved the mouse toward the send button and hesitated. No, don't hesitate; this is you, just press the button. That brought up memories. Press the button! No don't press the button! Come on! No! That had been a horrible decision, but life was worth its risks, right? There would be nothing without risks. Without coming to a full decision, I clicked the button.

Goodbye.

I yanked down the mailbox cover and pulled out three packages. Bill, bill, and... What? Is this…? I ripped open the package faster than that little metal ball long ago betrayed me. No. This can't be! But, on the front of the package there were eight large red letters arranged in one word.

ACCEPTED

My jaw was on the ground. They believed it. Or they liked it, either one, but both were... Amazing! I grinned largely and raced inside.

Believed, at last.
