I don't own anything as much as I wish I did.

Warning: Extreme sadness.

Suggestion: Listen to Scala & Kolacny Brothers, 'Nothing else Matters' at the same time as reading.

He stood with his forehead pressed against the window. The smooth cold glass was comforting even if the twilight downpour did nothing to cheer the black mood that had descended upon and now lingered in the room. He stepped back ever so slightly away from the window and turned to look at his brother who was standing next to him, staring with a fierce but blank intentness at the rain. His brother was close enough that if he stretched out his hand a little way he could touch his brother's arm. But he didn't. Couldn't.

His brother suddenly let out a breath that was half-way between a sigh and a gasping sob and the misty circle his brother's breath left on the pane grew as though it was a living entity that his brother had given life to. He looked back at the glass in front of him and smiled wryly at the conspicuously missing circle.

Closing his eyes, he took another hesitant step back and then looked back at the window in front of his brother. It had turned into an impromptu mirror: he could see his brother's face, pale and ghostlike, superimposed onto the miserable countryside. He almost laughed when he turned his attention back to the window directly in front of him. No reflection, of course, just the rain.

"I'm sorry." He whispered. "I never meant to leave you."

His brother continued staring out into the darkness.

Just a little piece I scribbled down while listening to Scala & Kolacny Brothers' beautiful rendition of Nothing Else Matters which is one of the most beautifully haunting and sad songs I have ever heard.

I wrote it as from one of the brothers point of view but for a long time I've wanted to do an ambiguous piece looking at brothers where it was never apparent who's point of view it was from (although I was originally planning on doing it for the Holmes brothers) and so this turned out to be it. I'm not going to tell you which brother's point of view I originally wrote it from but you can guess if you like.

I hope you liked my first drabble for the Narnia fandom.

Reviews would be greatly appreciated.
