A.N: Sorry for the long wait! I just got my motivation for this pairing back! For all of you still with me! (. . .No one, right? :'D r.i.p me)
It was still pretty early by time Len finally reached home, so everyone was still asleep. The blonde quietly changed back into his sleeping wear and slipped back into bed. But there was no sleep for him; there was too much on his mind at that moment. How was he going to spend the last day he has with his family? That question was an upsetting one, but one he had to answer nonetheless.
He spent the better half of the morning thinking about it, but could come up with nothing. He felt Piko stir next to him, and suddenly an arm was wrapped around his waist and two sleepy eyes were staring up at him. "Morning." The white-haired Vocaloid smiled gently at the blonde as he moved closer to him, hugging him tightly.
Len couldn't help but smile, even if it was slightly bittersweet. "Good morning. . ." His voice came out in a quiet hush. Piko didn't seem to notice it though, which Len was glad of. As the other male shifted to his feet to start the day, the blonde suddenly grasped him by his arm, pulling him back down and embracing him gently. Piko blinked a few times in confusion. "Len? Is everything okay?"
He didn't get a reply for a few seconds, then Len finally nodded and smiled down at him. "Everything is fine. Nothing to worry about." He let Piko go and started to get ready himself. He didn't bother putting his hair up today; he really didn't see the point seeing as how he was going to be dead within the next day. The white-haired Vocaloid didn't comment on it, but he did think it was a little out of character.
Both boys headed downstairs in quiet. Len had fully intended on not telling anyone what Master had said. Why should they have to worry about him? It's not like them knowing would even affect anything. He'd still be scrapped no matter what. For now he was only going to focus on trying to get in every last minute he could with his friends and family.
As the day neared closer to an end, both Rin and Piko noticed how odd Len's behavior was. The blonde tried his best to remain secretive, but when he was pulled aside by his sister he knew he wouldn't be able to maintain that for very long.
Stern blue eyes pierced his own. "Len, what is going on with you? Piko and I are worried." Rin commented. All the male blonde could do was smile sadly at her. "Rin, I love you. Even if you do piss me off a lot." He admitted quietly, making the female look at him with confusion. "I'm sorry we didn't spend more time together. But I hope you understand." He took her hands gently and squeezed them. "Please take care of them."
Once he finished, he dropped her hands and walked off, leaving Rin very confused and even more worried than she already was. But she knew when Len got like that, he was impossible to talk to. She decided to let it go; she'd be able to talk to him about it tomorrow. . .right?
It was about that time to settle into bed, and it came way too quickly for Len. He didn't do anything special for the last day he got to have alive with his family, and he knew he was going to regret it. He just couldn't bring himself to.
As he watched his love get ready for bed, he bit down on his lip. "Piko." He said softly, making the boy in question turn curiously. "Yes?"
The blonde walked over to Piko, who was sitting down on the bed. He took the empty spot next to him and embraced the boy as tightly as he could, burying his face into his shoulder. "You're the most important person in my life. Don't ever forget that. Don't forget I would do anything for you."
The white-haired male blinked in wonder. "I know, Len. And you as well." He looked down at the shorter male and gave his back a gentle rub. "What is going on with you today? You're not yourself."
But of course instead of answering, the blonde simply leaned back and placed his hand over the other's enlarged stomach. "And I love you too. Very much. Even though we haven't met yet. I just know you're going to be an amazing person."
"Len. . ." Piko started, but was cut off. "You should sleep." The older Vocaloid commented as he grabbed the sheets, pulling them up to Piko's shoulders and gently pushing him down onto the bed. "It's late." His voice was soft and gentle, but Piko could still hear the sadness.
"You're not going to get dressed for bed?" He commented as he took in the state Len was in: Hair down, still dressed in his street clothes.
"No. I'm fine." What was the point in changing? He'd rather be killed in the clothes he was born in. "Get some sleep. You need all the rest you can get." He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on Piko's lips before laying down himself and turning his back to Piko.
The other male stared at the back of the blonde's head for a few moments before sighing and turning the other direction. "Goodnight." He mumbled. He couldn't bring himself to say anything else. Len was clearly hiding something from him, but he refuses to tell him. It made him feel somewhat betrayed.
Once the blonde thought his lover was asleep, he turned back towards him. Sadly, he couldn't see Piko's face. He wanted to be able to look at him at that moment, but maybe it was better this way; he wouldn't feel as upset.
Len started to think about how Piko would be once he was gone. Would he be okay? Would their daughter be okay without her father? He didn't want to leave them, not at all. He felt selfish at that moment, choosing to die rather than choosing to just leave Piko alone. But either way, they'd lose him. And this way at least he won't feel pain anymore. Maybe if Piko did find out why he disappeared, he wouldn't hate him for choosing to die rather than abandoning him. He would never abandon the one he loves. But the idea that no matter what he picked, his family was going to be alone and without his love, it made him feel torn in half.
Tears started to prick at his eyes, and he felt his chest tighten. He wanted to scream, he wanted to punch the wall, he wanted to exclaim how unfair life was. But he didn't. All he did was let out a choked sob. And after that one, another one, and another one, until he couldn't control the tears that flowed down his cheeks and the agonizing sobs that clutched at his chest.
Len brought his knees up to his face and wrapped his arms around his leg, burying his face into his knees and staining them with the tears that fell from his eyes. He tried his best to be quiet so he wouldn't wake Piko up, but it didn't matter; he was already still awake and listening to how broken Len sounded.
It hurt. It hurt both of them. It hurt Len that he was going to leave Piko and their unborn child alone. And it hurt Piko that Len was in so much pain, yet he wouldn't let him help like he promised he would do. He made a vow, and he wasn't able to keep it. He found himself unable to contain the tears that brimmed his closed eyes and spilled over onto the pillow.
So both of them lay there in tears, just inches away from each other, but they couldn't have been further apart at that moment.
