"Sirius, read the damn book!"
Remus Lupin's almond colored eyes glinted with anger at his friend Sirius Black. "Do you want to fail this test? It's worth twenty percent of your grade and I know you're already practically failing. You need to concentrate more you compl-"
A finger to his lips made him shut it. The grey eyes had a smile to them. "Shush you. You know that it is extremely distracting for me to just be in the same room as you." Remus swatted the hand away, rolling his eyes.
"Yeah, yeah; you've told me this before. Especially in Transfiguration when I'm trying to take notes for the four of us. You need to learn how to control your wandering hands under the desk. No matter what you think, I don't enjoy having my thigh rubbed." A laugh burst from Sirius. "Study you idiot. I'm not going to have you get anymore detentions." Padfoot frowned up picked up his Ancient Runes textbook. Grumbling to himself, Sirius brought it up over his eyes.
For Remus that was good enough. His body hunched over as he looked at his own book that was sitting in his lap on the bed they were both sitting on. It was his own bed of course. They always studied there. His book over the ancient markings couldn't help but interest him. Maybe one day they would come in handy.
From Sirius's direction he heard the scratching of quill against paper. Moony didn't bother to look up. His eyes skimmed over the pages he read over so many times to make sure they were sealed in his mind.
Out of the blue something flew through the air and hit his head. Looking up he saw Sirius grinning like mad but some kind of hope shining bright in his eyes. Remus, who was now frowning, glanced down. There was a note in his lap that was written in Sirius's almost unreadable scratches. "I want to see if you, the teacher, actually gets what we're learning about," he said as an explanation.
Remus opened up the letter and saw that there were markings of the ancient language. Grabbing his own quill he began to go over the note. He could tell already that it was only three words. First letter, and only, in the word was 'I'. Writing it down he continued to decipher it. Halfway through the second word he could feel his heart beating faster and his palms were beginning to sweat. Shakily he translated the rest.
'I love you.'
The two had been dating for a few months now. It felt like they had been dating for years.
He couldn't stop the wide grin, the widest he could ever remember himself having, from spreading across his face. "It says 'I love you,'" he answered as he looked at Sirius.
Padfoot had a proud look in his eyes but a professional look was on his face. "And what is your response to it? And don't put it in that bloody stuff. It took me ages to figure out how to write that and I've been working on it since I found out you're going to force me to study for this one."
Remus didn't even have to think. He launched himself across the bed and pressed his lips to Sirius's. For a brief moment he kissed him before pulled away to press their foreheads together. Smile still on his lips he replied, "I love you, too."
A/N
I do not own any of these lovely characters no matter how much I wish I did.
I wrote this out of two prompts. One from my friend Kayla and another for a random anon on Tumblr. So thanks to you two.
This wasn't betaed seeing as it's 3am on a school night and I'm too lazy so feel free to point out any mistakes you might see. Reviews are encouraged. I enjoy critics on my writing to get better as well.
Thanks for reading my random little spurt as well!
