Love is No Joke

"Morgan, I need to talk to you," said Reid as he closed Morgan's office door behind him.

"Sure," he replied, removing his reading glasses, "what's going on man?"

Reid fidgeted nervously. "I have something to say and I'm just going to say it before I start rambling," he paused, "I'm in love with you."

Morgan looked around his office suspiciously. "Is my office bugged? Did Garcia hide cameras in here or something?"

"Derek, I wouldn't make this confession if I thought there were," Reid said quizzically.

"Oh, you're good man. Much better actor than I ever would have thought," he said, sounding impressed. Morgan forced himself to contain his excitement afraid that the words weren't true and that he would humiliate himself if he allowed himself to think they were truthful.

"Wait – you think this is a part of our prank war?"

"Isn't it?"

"No!" Reid exclaimed sounding genuinely offended.

"Okay, prove it."

"And how exactly do you suggest I do that?"

Morgan thought for a moment and then grinned. "Tell you what, you kiss me and I'll believe you." He still thought this was prank, and that Reid would balk away from the physical affection. If Reid was serious, that was okay too; his pouty lips always looked very kissable. He stood up from his desk chair and walked over to his best friend, leaving less than a foot of space between them, thinking he was about to spoil his prank, not allowing himself to consider the alternative.

"Just remember that you asked me to do this," Reid said as he put his hands gently on either side of Morgan's face and brought their lips together. Morgan's body ignited and he felt the fire burning in his stomach. Reid's kiss was like an electric shock, coursing through his body, and then he realized his tongue was in his mouth, and he wondered when that had happened. He had one arm wrapped around Reid's waist and another in his hair.

"Now do you believe me?" Reid inquired when he pulled away.

"Noooo . . . I think you better prove it to me again," grinned Derek.

"Hold that thought," said Spencer, walking to the door. Derek felt a wave of panic, but then he heard the lock click and realized that he wasn't leaving.

"Just how far are you going to go to prove this to me pretty boy?" Derek questioned, the implication heavy in the air.

"Haven't decided yet," Spencer smirked. "Regardless, I don't think we want anyone walking in on us."

"Is it wrong that I want to have sex with you, right now, here on my desk?" Derek asked rhetorically, telling Spencer that the attraction was mutual.

"Since we've been dancing around unresolved sexual tension for at least the past five years, I'm going to have to say no. That actually sounds like an excellent idea." Derek took a step towards Spencer but he held out his arm to stop him. "But I really do love you, and I won't be a one night stand."

Derek took another step toward him, pulling him close and leaning his forehead on Spencer's. "I never thought you would be. You're too special for that," Derek paused, "and I love you too much to do that to you."

"You're not pranking me now, are you?"

"No!" Derek hated to concede from a competition but he decided he would this one time. "Why don't we call a truce so we stop doubting each other?"

"I kind of like the prank war . . . but I think a temporary cease fire would work nicely." They agreed to the terms of their cease fire and shook hands on it.

Spencer thought the mood might be killed and considered returning to the bullpen until he felt Derek's hands on him again. "NOW can we have sex on my desk?"
