This is my first ever Underworld story. I fell in love with the series when I first watched it, and I really enjoyed Underworld Awakening.

I don't own Underworld.

Edit: It's been over five years since I first published this story. My writing style had changed so much, so I figured I'd rewrite each chapter. This first chapter went from just over one thousand words to three thousand words. I hope you enjoy.

The ice blue eyes of a vampire pierced the night as two people, a woman and a younger girl, slipped into an alley, away from police lights and Lycans. The vampires were still below ground, hiding from the humans who still wanted them dead. Selene slipped her guns into her holsters; twin Berettas that now were empty on ammunition. She would need to find fresh if they were going to continue on their search. Eve returned to her human form; skin regaining color and black eyes with a blue ring turned into a blue-ish green that was a lot like her father. The man they had been searching to find for some time now.

"Where did you see him?" Selene asked her daughter, sounding out of breath. They had been chased for quite a few miles now. The humans, not noticing that they slipped into the shadows, ran right passed where they were. It was a relief that they no longer had move fast, at least for a little while now. But they needed to keep moving. Eve had seen through her father's eyes. Michael was nearby.

"He should be just up ahead, in the door on our left." Eve's response was soft, as if still concerned that they were being followed. She focused for a moment, trying to see through his eyes again, but with no luck. However, she knew that he had been assaulted by lycans not long before. Even now, the scent of blood, albeit faded, was around them; both lycan and a scent unfamiliar to Eve. "The lycans attacked him. He's hurt and on his guard. We need to be careful, Mum."

"He has probably already left the area, I mean we've been at this for a year now. One would think we would have found him." Selene sounded resigned, tired after her endless searching for her mate. She knew she shouldn't give up hope that the two of them would be reunited eventually, but at the same time, after failure after failure at finding him, Selene had begun to lose hope that she would ever be by his side again.

"No, he's still here, you have to trust me." Eve replied, her tone leaving little room for argument. For a split second, she seemed just like her mother. She still had faith that her father wasn't far away, and she wanted her mother to see that too. Selene, startled by the tone her daughter took with her, nodded and turned into the door that she hoped would lead to her mate.

The room was dark, and even Selene's heightened sense of sight in darkness didn't allow her to see more than an inch or so past her face. She could hear another's heartbeat in the room, and she was about to breath in to catch the scent of the person. She was starting to regain hope that maybe, just maybe, her mate was there.

The next thing she knew, she was being held up by her throat and slammed up against the nearest wall. She could hear her daughter growl, but she couldn't see anything, let alone her attacker. A sharp, stabbing pain in her neck clued her in to the fact that she had been bitten, and the way her world began to spin told her that whoever it was decided to feed off of her. Lightheaded, she was dropped to the ground. She heard a gasp and a body being shoved into the wall, and she let out a weakened hiss as she realized that whoever it was had just shoved her daughter into the wall

She went to say something, but found that the mysterious attacker had grabbed her again. This time, he tossed her against the wall with force, and her head slammed against the concrete. Her world was spinning worse now, but it was obvious that he wasn't done with her yet. He picked her up and brought her to something that smelled like rain water. Her head was submerged in it. Whoever was doing this, was smart enough to know that while this wouldn't kill her right away, he might be able to get an answer from her quicker. Except that she was used to torture, and whatever he could throw at her, she would be able to resist.

"Mum," She barely heard her daughter call. The water was muffling any sounds that were around her. She struggled to keep her eyes open. Her lungs burned with a need for oxygen as she could make out what her daughter said next. "It's him!"

"Michael," She said, but it was a terrible mistake she regretted almost as soon as she had done it. As soon as she opened her mouth, water began to pour into her lungs. She didn't struggle or do anything. Her eyes just rolled back into her head and the world went black.

"Mum no!" Eve saw her mother go limp in the water and her reaction was immediate. She turned to the man who was her father and growled; a threatening sound that was more like a vampiric hiss, but had a lycanthropic growl tone to it. Her body changed into her hybrid form once more and she ran at him. While she had no intent to hurt him drastically, he had attack her mother and it didn't seem like she was breathing. Eve could hear her heartbeat though and took solace in that fact alone. What surprised her was that he didn't make any attempt to block or avoid her attack, in fact, he let her hit him. Yet, wherever she attacked seemed to immediately heal up.

"Do you know who you just attacked?" Eve said, furious that her father didn't even bother to see who he went after. "Her name is Selene, and she's my mother, and you're my father." There was a moment or two when neither of them moved, but the next thing she knew, Michael was holding a flashlight and had turned the thing on. She could see the look of horror on his face as he realized what he had done.

"Selene!" He said, pulling her out of the water. His eyes expressed concern for the woman he loved. "No, no, no. I am not going to be the reason you die." He moved so he was near to on top of her, his hands resting just below her sternum and he started doing compressions. He leaned over and breathed into her open mouth. He pulled away, watching as her head rolled to the side and she coughed up the water in her lungs.

"M-Michael?" She whispered, eyes searching for a moment before she fell unconscious once again. Her body was too weak to keep herself awake for long.

"I'm so sorry, Selene." Michael whispered, kissing the top of her head "Come on. Let's get to safety, and then maybe you could explain to me what the fuck is going on." If this girl was supposedly his daughter, he knew he shouldn't be cursing at her. That being said, he was confused and frustrated and needed answers once they had a break.

Michael and Eve walked out from the abandoned building he was staying in, and searched for a motel they could stay at. Selene was out cold in Michael's arms, which aroused some suspicion from the woman at the front desk. She knew better than to ask questions and Michael could smell the fear on her. She handed Eve the key to the room, and the two of them found themselves heading upstairs into the small room, which had two ratty looking beds, but it was a step up from where they had all been staying.

Once Michael had set his mate down on the bed, he sat down at the edge of the bed and faced Eve really for the first time. He was stunned by how similar she looked to Selene, minus her eyes, which he knew were carbon copies of his own.

"Alright, it's time to talk. Who exactly are you, and is Selene really your mother?" He asked, somehow keeping his voice relatively calm despite the raw emotion that threatened to escape. If that was true and Selene was her mother, that would mean she was pregnant the day of the escape… He had failed her.

After taking a deep breath, Eve steadied herself from the rush of emotions that overcame her as she thought about her life up until she had freed her mother from her cell. Her explanation of what happened was brief, but informative. She told him of her childhood as an experiment, of how she freed her mother, and what happened afterwards which lead to Selene freeing him.

"Mum has been looking for you ever since." Eve finished her story, leaving Michael sitting stiff. His eyes were sad, especially upon the realization that his daughter had grown up without her family, and was raised in a way nobody should. "But now that we found you. We can be a real family." Her tone brightened up some, and she watched as Michael's face relaxed some. "I don't know what's going to happen next though…"

"I do."

"Selene," Michael said, breathing out a sigh of relief as he watched Selene sit up some. Her face was a little pale, but otherwise, she was okay. Using his hybrid speed, he rushed to her side and helped her sit up, which resulted in her giving him a sharp glare. "I'm so sorry, Selene. Your scent was covered by the musty smells of the building, and I couldn't see who was in there. I thought it was a human or a lycan coming after me…" He was about to continue talking when Selene held up a hand to silence him. He shut up almost right after she did that.

"It is fine, Michael." Selene responded, hoping that her words would comfort him some. She wasn't angry at what happened, even if she hoped their reunion could have been better. "Our main concern should be to escape. We need to get away from this place, somewhere no one would ever look for us. Perhaps the safe house we stayed in for a few days after the incident with Marcus."

"It definitely wouldn't be the first place they'd look, but we couldn't stay there forever. As you told me, the vampires have those places set on motion sensors." Michael replied, earning an eye roll from his mate. His brows furrowed at that response. What had he said that earned him that response?

"Michael, so much has changed since we attempted our escape. The vampires are living underground now. They have no use for the safe houses any longer, unless they are escaping daylight, which many of them won't be doing. They never leave their coven anymore. Even if we trip a motion sensor, they would never know. Of course we wouldn't stay there forever, but we would be safer there for a few days while we planned out our next location." Selene argued, her jaw clenching for a moment as she tried to get her mate to understand why she thought this was their best course of action.

Eve glanced between her mother and father, sensing the awkwardness in the air between them. It was almost unbearable, and she decided she needed to get out of there quick to give them some time to themselves to work whatever this was out. She cleared her throat to speak up again. "I'm going to take a shower." With that, she walked into the bathroom and closed the door.

Selene and Michael sat there in silence for a few moments, listening as the water began to spray in the bathroom. The two glanced at each other, but neither one began to speak. The silence was overwhelming, and from the way Michael's fingers started drumming against the bed, it was obvious how much it was bothering him. He needed to break the silence before that was all there was, and he finally cleared his throat so he could say something.

"I'm sorry about making you search for me…" His eyes lowered to the ground. He did feel guilty for the way he ran off as soon as he awoke in that hell of a place. He really couldn't remember what was going through his head, but he knew that he had to get out of there as fast as possible.

"Do you have any idea how worried I was?" She snapped. Her voice was sharp which caused Michael to flinch. Selene knew Michael had no idea how much the fact that he had fled hurt her. "I thought that the lycans or humans had grabbed you or worse" There was a slight waver in her voice, which caused her to look away. Despite Michael having seen her at her weakest, she still hated showing him these moments. She could feel the tears pooling in her eyes and despite her trying to fight them back, they started rolling down her face.

Selene felt a warm hand on her face as Michael lifted it so they were looking at each other. His thumb caressed her cheek as he wiped the tears from her face. He leaned forward and pressed their lips together in a soft kiss. She kissed back with passion, unable to get enough of his warmth and his love. She pulled back for a moment in order to catch her breath before pulling him in to yet another kiss. The kissing became rougher and more desperate as they both tried to get more of each other. Selene knew that they both needed this desperately. It had been thirteen years since they had last been together, and every bit of Selene's body ached for Michael's touch.

His hands worked swift, pulling off every stitch of her clothing. She did the same, but was a little gentler with his clothing, knowing that he probably didn't have another shirt or jeans. Her hands roamed his naked chest, reveling in the soft skin and warmth that it provided. She had missed this, missed him. Her need for him grew more intense as she pulled him into another kiss, and they both fell back on the bed. She was underneath Michael, for now.

Yet, pretty much as soon as her back touched the mattress and Michael's hands began to roam down her body, the lock on the bathroom door clicked and the door started to open. They quickly pulled the blanket over their nude bodies. Selene's face was hiding in Michael's chest to keep her blush hidden. She felt the vibrations in his chest as he laughed. She swatted his arm as she heard her daughter's footsteps heading towards the other bed.

She finally glanced out from Michael's chest to see her daughter climbing into the other bed. She watched as Eve curled up into a ball, and stared over at her parents for a moment. "Good night Dad. Good Night Mum." She said, closing her eyes and falling into a light sleep.

Michael noticed as Selene's gaze softened upon the words spoken to them. He was surprised by this new and dare he say, motherly, look to his mate. When Selene noticed him staring, her gaze hardened for a moment before softening yet again. She figured there was little to no point in hiding how she felt towards their daughter. While she had been originally cold to her, it was as she had said. Her heart was not cold, but broken. Now, especially that they were reunited, that wasn't the case.

"You really care about her, don't you?" The question seemed to have come out of nowhere, but Selene understood why he was asking that. It took a while for her to grow to love anyone, especially after closing her heart off for so long. However, Selene felt like the comment on its own was a little stupid. How could he even ask such a thing?

"She's our daughter, Michael, how could I not?" Selene turned back to look at their sleeping daughter. She looked so innocent and young in her sleep, hiding the fact that she was wise beyond her years and had experienced more in her thirteen years of life than many did in a lifetime. "I was a little cold when I first met her, but that was only because I thought I had lost you. I do love her though."

Selene looked back at Michael to see that he seemed to have something else on his mind. Her brows furrowed at the conflicted look on his face. Her hand moved to cup his cheek, thumb brushing against his cheek. "What's on your mind, Michael?"

There was some hesitation, but he eventually spoke up again. "I had a feeling you were pregnant when we were captured. That's why I tried to push us to leave when we did. Your scent had changed, and you'd been feeding more. I didn't want to tell you until we escaped." He knew he should have said something, because then maybe they could have come up with a more solid plan. He blamed himself for this. He knew Selene could sense this because he felt her hand come and take his.

"I didn't know, but I think part of me sensed that I was with child at the time." She admitted "I hesitated for a moment when you were being attacked. Even if I hadn't noticed the change in my own body, there was a part of me that knew." Her face buried into his neck, ashamed that she hadn't realized it. All of this could have been avoided had she known about her pregnancy. Eve could have been born into a loving family, rather than grew up thinking she was nothing more than an experiment.

"I guess all we can do is give her the best life we can. You know, after everything she went through." Michael said, his fingers carding through Selene's hair. He was upset with himself for not being able to protect his family but that was in the past now. He had to focus on protecting his family now. He had to watch over his mate and daughter, no matter what. And now, he noticed that Selene was fighting sleep, bags under her eyes betraying how little she had been sleeping.

"Get some sleep Selene." He noticed how she seemed to give him a look. "I'll be right here when you wake up." He could see she was still hesitant, but her eyes slowly started to close and she fell into a bit of an uneasy sleep. She had already buried her face in his chest. She didn't seem peaceful, but he supposed he was lucky that she went to sleep really without a fuss.

He glanced down at her once more and couldn't keep the smile off of his face. He thought she was so beautiful, no matter the situation. He felt so lucky that he was finally reunited with his mate. Add on the fact that Michael had a daughter now too; he was probably the happiest man in existence right then. Selene shifted closer to him, and his arms wrapped around her a little more.

Michael's eyes started to close as he felt a peace was over him. He could hear the unified beating of Selene and Eve's hearts. The sound caused the hybrid to relax and slowly, he drifted off into a comfortable sleep.
