Maple Tea

"Mr. Williams," comes the English-accented voice from the front of the room. Arthur Kirkland, aspiring teacher and their substitute for English literature that day, stares intently at the student in the front row. He thinks it may be too formal considering the fact that they're only actually three years apart, but he disregards that.

Matthew, cheeks flushing slightly, looked up from his notebook and asked, "Yes?"

Arthur stands. In one hand, he holds a stapled document somewhat awkwardly. "May I see you at my desk?"

The rest of the class doesn't seem to notice the exchange, too busy socializing to really care. With a quick nod, Matthew scurries to his teacher. "What is it, Mr. Kirkland?"

"It seems that you have failed to turn in your thesis," the substitute notes.

"But I did," Matthew replies, eyebrows furrowing in concern. "Right at the beginning of class." He distinctly remembers placing his paper onto the desk.

"I did not receive your work." Arthur coughs slightly. "I did, however, find this on my desk." Then he hands the stapled papers to the young Canadian, eyes averting an interesting-looking button on the boy's shirt.

Matthew's eyes scan the paper, and, as he slowly realizes his mistake, his face turns a violent shade of red. "S-Sir, I-"

"You're a wonderful writer, and I'm sure that this...Maple Tea fandom is lucky to have you," the older of the two says awkwardly. "However, I'm sure your teacher would appreciate getting the right papers next time."

"I p-printed it out f-for a fr-friend," Matthew offers meekly.

"Just get your thesis to me, Mr. Williams." But Arthur's face is red, too.

"W-Will do!" Matthew then rushes off with his story in hand, presumably to find the right paper.

Later that night, Arthur does some researching.

He learns exactly what Maple Tea is, as well as Hetalia and yaoi. By the next morning, eyes sunken and mind hazy from reading so many stories the night before, he comes to a decision. When he arrives at his classroom, he approaches Matthew and, ignoring the student's stunned expression, states bluntly:

"I prefer USCan."

A/N:
Just a silly little thing I wanted to write. c:

So let's see... Besides this, I have two requests to fulfill and then a Little Red Riding Hood fairytale to mangle. Maybe after those oneshots, I'll finally be able to get back to my other fics... ; A ;
