Day 17 of my fic-a-day New Year's Project. See my profile for details/fandoms/a tentative schedule if you're curious.

Donna, Noble Donna, do you hear us in your dreams?

Does your heart cry out against a world as empty as it seems?

Oh Donna, Noble Donna, she who came to right our wrong,

We're still singing in your honor, though you cannot hear our song!

.

Doctor-Donna came to help us when our spirit had run dry.

Doctor-Donna wept our tears when we'd forgotten how to cry.

Her bright fire burns in legend with the Doctor by her side,

Brilliant, valiant Doctor-Donna whose good heart restored our minds.

.

For we swore we would remember, and we Ood are faithful yet;

Though we know her song has ended, still, we never will forget.

Her name lives in our singing, and her flame is burning still;

Her mind is draped in shadow but her heart cannot be killed.

.

Our song rings out across all time and in unconscious hearts.

We sing to dying Donna as her truer self departs .

Our melodies still haunt her dreams and corners of her mind;

She wonders at the love she feels whose cause she'll never find.

.

Donna, Noble Donna, do you hear us in your dreams?

Does your heart cry out against a world as empty as it seems?

Oh Donna, Noble Donna, know the Ood are singing yet,

For, though you can't remember us, we never will forget!

I'm fairly proud of the poetry on this one, but I'm not sure that it's at all Oodish. What say you?

Tomorrow's oneshot will be for the BBC's Merlin, and the next day will be the first chapter of a Doctor Who four-parter about Donna.
