Rose Lalonde was a very bright young lady. She wrote well above her age level, as well as understood most things many young teenagers wouldn't necessarily understand, such as the intricacies of a child/parent relationship. She was also able to come to terms with her sexuality at quite a young age. What confused Rose the most, however, would be her brother and best friend, Dave Strider.

Dave Strider, cool kid extraordinaire, had a tendency to keep himself reserved, especially when it came to matters of his sexuality. This is what confused Rose the most. Of course she had many psychoanalytical journals kept for Dave, if not for ironic purposes only. Dave, being the most comfortable around Rose, told her many things that he wouldn't necessarily tell anyone else; however even with this trust, he was still very aloof as to the matter of his sexuality, which intrigued Rose for some reason.

Rose, having an interest in psychology, has recently taken up to reading about sexuality and how it transcends through generations, as well as through siblings. She has taken to the thesis that sexuality is a genetic condition and it is nothing that can be chosen. She knew for quite a while now that Dave's Brother was of the homosexual persuasion, for she had seen him partaking in a very saucy escapade in an alley way outside of Dave's apartment building. She knew better than to mention this to Dave, for she had absolutely no idea as to how he might react, however this discovery is what, more or less, caused her to take up the study of sexuality.

Now, as to the matter of Dave, Rose had a hypothesis that perhaps Dave was taken to the dorky John Egbert, who, undoubtedly, was Dave's best friend, along with Rose of course. This hypothesis, however, was scratched out of the equation once she made the abrupt discover that John was, surprisingly, a homosexual and had started a rather quaint relationship with a very bitter troll named Karkat Vantas.

This, of course, had left Rose with absolutely nothing as to the matter of Dave's sexuality. If John was a homosexual, and also in a relationship, then where did that leave Dave? Rather than form another ridiculous hypothesis, she opted for the direct confrontation method instead.

"Hello," she said to him over Pesterchum one cold, October day. Well, cold for her at least, since it was probably a good 80 or so in Texas.

"Hey," he responded, "what's up?"

"Well," Rose started, "I have an inquiry for you. It pertains to the matter of your sexuality. Now please bear with me. I, of course, am attracted to women. This is no surprise to anyone. You, however, have made no indication as to your preferences. Normally this would not bother me, but due to recent events, I'm speaking of John's relationship with Karkat by the way, I have been having this nagging question at the back of my head. What is Dave's sexuality? Call me curious, or nosy, but you can't deny me an honest answer that I am entitled to as your ectobiological sibling."

Rose sighed. There, she said it all. She had left out the sighting of Bro's scandalous affair, however, in fear of the consequences it might bring, since she had no clue as to whether Dave knew his brother was a homosexual.

After a couple of minutes of silence, right when Rose was just about to type an apology for being so brash about the matter, Dave responded.

"Well fuck," he said, "way to bring down the hammer on me like that. Thanks for the warning there sis."

Rose smiled. "I apologize, but you very well know how I act when I have something on my mind."

"Yeah, no shit," Dave said. "You kind of just go full force on the subject. No room for air or anything like that. You're a forward bitch Rose. You know that?"

"Yes," Rose responded, "I'm aware of this. You're also a very avoidant ass Dave. Do you know that?"
