Prologue

A small gecko like Pokémon was moving silently between still trees at a very fast rate. Only to be stopped in mid jump as a shadow ball hit him in the side. Cackling laughter emerged from the trees as the Treecko struggled to his feet. "You think you can escape your fate" the voice said menacingly as the Treecko swivelled in circles trying to locate where the voice was coming from. "Show yourself" the Treecko yelled outraged. "Why I'm in plain sight Treecko" The voice said bluntly as the Treecko turned toward his attacker that was only just becoming visible. "It is also plain to see that you are surrounded" said the dark floating Pokémon that chuckled again, as many smaller dark purple Pokémon stepped out of the undergrowth in a circle around the Treecko. Their sharp claws gleamed in the moonlight poised to strike at any moment. "You never played fair, Dusknoir" the Treecko remarked, getting into a battle stance. "Nor do you" Dusknoir replied waving his hand signalling his underlings to commence their attack. The Sableye's circle enclosed around the lone Treecko cutting off any possible retreat. "Weh- heh heh" they laughed cruelly amongst themselves getting ever closer to the ready Treecko. There was silence in the clearing no more as Dusknoir's deep voice boomed through the forest "Take him".

Claws and teeth erupted the clearing as the Sableye jumped on the Treecko claws extended. The Sableye used fury swipes to slash at Treecko with their sharpened claws. Treecko ran, dodged and tried to pound or bullet seed anything that came near him, but with so many against you it's hard not to get hit. As the fight raged on Dusknoir circled the massive skirmish taking place, like a Sharpedo circles its prey. Waiting for when Treecko was at his weakest, it was then he would strike. Time passed, the dust settled and each of Dusknoir's Sableye fell leaving a pile of sand and Treecko badly wounded, blood dripping from his gashes. "And now it is your turn to fall" said the approaching Dusknoir a cruel smile forming on his face. "More like the other way around" the weakened Treecko replied a smiling. "Come now Treecko if you submit now I'll make it quick and painless" Offered Dusknoir, a glint of satisfaction in his eye. "You never keep your word Dusknoir" Replied Treecko angrily crossing his arms. The small smile Dusknoir once had now extended across his entire face as he replied coldly "Your right" his voice almost a whisper as the mouth on his stomach opened and sucked in the darkness around them preparing a shadow ball. Treecko knew if he was hit by this attack it was all over. He looked around franticly but in this dusty old forest there wasn't much that could help him.

Wait a minute dust; it was all over the place. A plan began to form in Treecko's mind but he'd have to act quickly for Dusknoir's attack was nearly upon him. Treecko readied his bullet seed. Dusknoir laughed evilly "ha ha ha ha you think your minuscule bullet seed can deflect my shadow ball" "You're even more reckless than I thought". The moment before Dusknoir released his shadow ball, Treecko's bullet seed hit the ground in front of Dusknoir sending dust up in his face and making the attack miss Treecko by a few centimetres. The explosion from the shadow ball made the dust cloud even larger so it was hard to see a hands length in front of your face. Dusknoir coughed violently waving his hand in front of his face trying to clear the dust in front of him. The dust settled after a minute or two but to Dusknoir's dismay Treecko was nowhere in sight. "Damn that blasted Treecko" growled Dusknoir under his breath before he raised it so it could be heard across the silent forest. "You can run but you can't hide Treecko!" Dusknoir's words reached the wounded Treecko as he pelted through the forest towards the edge of the woods his speed slowing with every stride as blood was still trickling from some of his bigger wounds. The world that flooded through his eyes seemed to be getting darker and darker and his breath becoming deeper and deeper until he was consumed by darkness and fell into unconsciousness.
