O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!

Thy leaves are so unchanging;

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!

Thy leaves are so unchanging;

Not only green when summer's here,

But also when 'tis cold and drear.

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!

Thy leaves are so unchanging!

"Mommy, Daddy, this one!" Jacen said, pulling Han and Leia over to stand by a tall, blue spruce. The needles were short, and the tree was fairly skinny. The tree was not exactly what the family was looking for, and the branches on this one were not all full and there were several bare patches.

"It's nice Jacen. But why don't we find one that's a little bigger around?" Han suggested.

"Okay," the five year old replied, and skipped off.

Han sighed. Pleasing three children was going to be difficult. He had tried to talk everyone into buying a fake tree that had lights already in it, but Leia had balked. For her, Christmas was a sacred event, and the choosing of the Christmas tree the most special of those times. Han didn't want to push her, he could see that this time of year always brought her a little closer to her lost family.

"Daddy! I want that one!" Little Anakin pointed at a short, stubby looking tree. It was full, and the branches were full of needles. The tree gave off a beautiful scent of pine, but Han and Leia both knew it would look tiny in their home under the 20 foot vaulted ceiling of their living room.

"Anakin, we're looking for a tree that's a little bit bigger. It would be very nice for some other family to take home."

The little boy nodded, but he still seemed dissatisfied. That may also be because he was not allowed to wander around the lot as Jacen and Jaina were so eagerly doing, instead he had to stay close to his parents' sides.

Leia and Han found Jaina eagerly standing next to a tree that looked perfect at first. It was about 12 feet tall, the base was nice and full and had a good taper up to the top. There were many branches, and plenty of space under the tree for gifts to be placed. When the family walked around the tree however, they found that the entire backside was bare of branches.

"We could just put that side next to the wall," Han suggested.

Leia shook her head. "We are getting the perfect Christmas tree!"

Han silently grumbled. They had been looking for hours, and he just wanted to be done. They still had a lot to get done, and there were now only three days until Christmas. But he gritted his teeth and agreed with his wife.

Leia began looking in earnest, using the children to keep their eyes peeled for the best Christmas tree ever. They walked up and down the endless rows of trees, looking for the one that was meant for their home. As Han watched them all, he couldn't help but get into the spirit himself.

"Leia, kids, come look!" Han exclaimed. As the family gathered around, each of them nodded about their father's choice. It was perfect! The branches began about 2 feet off the ground, the base was easily 5 feet in diameter, and it was so tall that Anakin said he couldn't even see the top from where he was standing.

"Here it is. Here is the perfect Christmas tree!"

Merry Christmas!
