I wrote this after watching the latest trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises", and feeling inspired, especially by the chanting.
The chanting continued to grow louder. Even his muscled adversary couldn't ignore it by now. Slowly catching his breath, Batman glanced out of the corner of his eye at the crowd. They were now in the thousands, and they were all chanting the same thing. Something like Dishay-dishay basara-basara. What was it Alfred had said it meant?
Oh yeah.
Rise.
All of Bane's followers were now overwhelmed by the crowd. It was now between Batman and Bane.
Rise.
But…he couldn't get up. He just could not muster the strength. Bane had exhausted and pummeled every last bit of reserve strength that Batman had. It was finally over.
Rise.
No, something told him. It could not just end that easily. What about all that Alfred and Jim Gordon and Lucius Fox and Dent had done for him? What about…all his parents had done?
Rise.
Struggling against his own pained groans, he slowly pushed himself to his feet. Bruce was weak, but he was more than Bruce, more than just a man. He was Batman.
RISE.
