Hey there,
Wow...um, to say the least it's been a while? a few years...wow...craziness! Well, let's see if I can still write.
Don't own anything.
"Dorm prty in rm 438 of Wayne Hall b there plz!"
Who would have thought that one text would change my entire life?
It was my first day of my freshman year at Jump City University or, as we call it, JCU. I was nervous and apprehensive at first, not knowing anyone aside from my friend Garfield, and the entire day I felt lost and insignificant. Garfield sent me the text as a way to make me feel a bit more included and I know it would be rude not to accept his kind offer. So I went, planning to only stay for a half-hour then claim exhaustion and leave before Gar starts pumping drinks into me.
But then I saw him...
He sat at an impromptu bar, which was really an overturned bookcase, and was mixing drinks for a friend. He had dark raven hair, creamy smooth skin and a charming smile as he laughed at his friend's antics. But, what froze me in my place were his eyes. Blue. The color of the deepest azure ocean. And they were looking up at me with a surprising bewildered sort-of look. My breath caught in my throat.
"Hi there," He gave me a cheeky smile. "I don't think I know you. I'm Dick Grayson, and you are...?" He looked at me curiously.
"Uh...Kory...Kory Anders." I stumbled over my words as he looked at me, clearly bemused. I felt my face get hot as he extended a hand in greeting. I returned it with shaking hands.
"So Kory, you want a drink? I'm the best bartender in Jump!" He beamed at me. I shook my head softly.
"Awww C'mon Kors! It's so good dude! Have some of mine!" Gar wrapped an arm around my shoulders and shook his drink in my face.
"Are you drunk already Gar?" I laughed. He gave me a goofy smile.
"Maybe a little...Grayson knows how to make 'em! Here, lemme intro...duce you to ever'one." He turned me away from Dick and lead me around the small dorm. He pointed to a tall African American playing video games in between sips of his drink and a skinny ginger-haired boy playing alongside him. "That there is Victor and next to him is Wally. Oh!" His voice dropped down to a whisper, "That girl reading in the corner...That's Rachel. She's not much for partying but she's so cool!" I glanced over and she met my gaze with deadpan violet eyes. I gave her a kind smile, she nodded curtly in acknowledgement, then returned to her book.
"So Kory, what year are you?" Dick asked from his place behind the bar.
"I am a Freshman, and you?" I replied turning back and offering him a light smile, he beamed back.
"Sophomore," he gave a small chuckle, "I'm guessing I'm gonna have to show you the ropes Miss Anders, college is a very strange place for newcomers."
I smiled again at his kindness, "That would be very nice of you Dick."
Dick offered me a chair and I sat down beside him and we began talking. We spoke of hometowns, high schools, activities we were interested in and before I had realized, it was nearing two 'o'clock in the morning.
"I can't believe it's this late! I've got to get going! My room mate is probably wondering where I am!" As I got up to make my exit, Dick grabbed my hand gently.
"Hey, can I um...get your number so we can all go to lunch together tomorrow?" He asked, somewhat embarrassed. I gave a small giggle, took his phone and typed in my digits.
"I expect an invitation as soon as I wake up Mr. Grayson," I smirked. He nodded happily.
That night when I went to bed all I could think of was his smile.
Well, that's all I have for now, a VERY short chapter I know, but they will get longer, I assure you of that! It's going to be a very interesting story, I promise!
R&R please and thank you :)
