"Amy, uncuff me now." Amy looked over at River for confirmation, and then uncuffed the Doctor.

He rubbed his wrists, then spun around. "Alright, I need a strip of clothe about a foot long. Never mind, this will do!" He added as he pulled off his bowtie. "River, take one end of this and wrap it around your hand."

"What am I doing?" River asked.

"As you're told," the Doctor relied. "Now, Captain Williams, say I consent and gladly give."

"Why?" Rory said.

"Never mind, just say it!"

"I consent and gladly give," Rory said slightly puzzled.

"Amy, I need you to say it too." He paused slightly, then added, "Mother of the Bride."

Amy pursed her lips and quickly said "I consent and gladly give."

"River, I'm going to whisper something into your ear, and when I do, I want you to listen very carefully and tell no one what I told you." He leaned forward and whispered something, and she pulled back with a slight look of awe. "I just told you my name," he said.

"And now wife, I have a request, this world is dying, and it's my fault. I can't bear it another day. Please help me." River slowly nodded.

"Then you may kiss the Bride."

"I'll make it a good one," he whispered leaning close.

"You'd better," she muttered back before their lips met. Then they kissed, and time was moving.

That Night

"Since when do you just marry a girl without asking her permission?" River said it in a calm voice, but it was oh so obvious she was pissed.

"I don't believe that crap about a Gallifreyan wedding ceremony! I've been to as many planets as you, and all of them ask the bride's permission first!"

"River! The universe was ending, time was disintegrating, AND you did say you loved me! Also, I didn't hear any particular objections coming from your oh-so-sexy mouth!"

"Sweetie, don't get me wrong, I do want to marry you. It's justI think you should have asked first."

"River, I meant to ask, but I was running out of time! And, I pretty much knew we were going to get married anyways. You and your spoilers line!"

"Honey, all I'm saying is I wish you would have asked me first." She turned around and walked off. The Doctor sighed, sticking his hands in his pockets. Then he grinned, and pulled out a ring. "can't even remember why that's in there, but sure is helpful!" The TARDIS hummed, and he looked up in surprise. "Oh, thanks old girl!"

20 Minutes Later

The Doctor came into the kitchen, where River was, of all things, making cookies.

"River, I'm sorry, I should have asked you before I married you. Will you forgive me?" He looked sincerely contrite, and River chuckled.

"Of course, Sweetie."

"Good, then well…" The Doctor pulled out the ring in his pocket. The TARDIS had been thoughtful enough to even provide a jewelry box as well. He got down on one knee, held it up and looked at River.

"River Song, Melody Pond, I suppose it probably is a little too late to ask, but will you marry me?"
