So, this is the prologue. Now you shall get your vixen and firekittens and hilarity involving highly intelligent mini-munchkins. (that's what I call children 3 and under. 4 and up, they're munchkins.)

When last we left our heroes, they were racing off to save one Tessara Robyn, best friend of the relatively new Lady of Alaric. Kurama had been smitten by one of Cupid's arrows when looking upon the girl, which made him, well, see for yourself...

Pyro stepped out of the portal and nearly ran into her mate. "Why are you not fighting?"

Hiei spared her a glance. "The fox said he had it. About time the baka showed interest in a woman."

She laughed. Then growled.

One of the demons on the ground had woken up, and looked to be getting into a better position to aim at the crouched woman behind a table.

Pyro flung herself between the demon and her friend. It threw and energy bolt at the same time.

Luckily, the shot went wide. Pyro grinned up at her friend from where she landed on her side. "Hey Tess, we'll catch up in a minute, ok?"

Off to the side, Kurama had sown a death plant into one of the remaining two demons. Tessara watched, wide-eyed as it erupted into millions of flowers. The other was cut down by Kurama's whip.

The demon on the ground threw another energy bolt at the two women. Pyro absorbed it, then threw one back at him. "You do NOT try to kill MY friends!" she screamed.

The bolt hit the prone demon just as Kurama's Rose Whip wrapped around it's neck.

"So, um, hi. Long time no see." Pyro gave her friend a sheepish grin, still laying on her side, partially blocking Tessara from view.

"Pyro!" Tessara fairly glomped the girl on the ground, then kissed her full on the lips.

Shocked, Pyro allowed it until she was brought out of her fog by her mate's growl. Gently, she pushed the other woman away. "Um, wow. Ok, Tess, I want to introduce you to some people." Pyro flipped to her feet, then reached her hand down to the woman on the ground.

"Introductions at the safe house, Thistle. There are more demons closing in." Kurama warned.

"Demons? What?" Tessara looked lost.

"You have some kind of price or target on you, and those things we just fought are not here alone." Pyro grabbed her friend's hand tighter and started off toward the safe house.

"And you have insane powers. You have got to tell me how." Tessara followed as fast as she could walk.

"When we get to the safe house, I'll tell you everything. It might take a while."

Pyro led Tess to the room they'd dubbed the Board Room the last time they'd stayed there. It had a locking door, and no windows. A table dominated the floor space, surrounded by at least a dozen chairs.

Tessara sat down in one, and Hiei and Pyro took seats opposite her.

"What the hell happened out there today? What were those things? How did you throw that attack back at it? Tell me! I need to know!" Tessara demanded in a rush. She bounced in excitement.

"Chill Tess, I'll tell you everything, but you really need to chill. Remember the last time we saw each other? That time in the park?" Pyro asked.

"Yes, how could I forget?"

"It has to do with that. So sit back, relax, and we'll get this story started."
