Qui-Gon Jinn smiled a mysterious smile. . .

Today another Jedi would be joining the Force and Qui-Gon had been
appointed his escort. Qui-Gon felt such happiness because at long last
he would be reunited with Obi-Wan. . .He rejoiced at the thought of it!

At the time appointed by the Force, Qui-Gon left the place of the other
departed Jedi and made his way towards where the place he knew that Obi-Wan would become one with the Force. He arrived and he stood waiting on a battle space station known as the Death Star.

Soon a dark one arrived, a Sith Lord. With pain, Qui-Gon realized the identity of the one inside the machine that stood before him. The Dark Lord saw him.

"Leave, spirit." he commanded in a voice that was not the voice Qui-Gon had known.

"I will not. I cannot interfere with what you would do. We are on separate
levels of existence, Anakin." Qui-Gon replied.

"Anakin Skywalker is dead, spirit. I am not he." Vader replied.

"You were once and still are Anakin Skywalker. You cannot tell me any different." Qui-Gon paused. "Anakin, do you not know me?" he asked.

"You are a Jedi who died before the Empire's purge. Why should I know you?" Vader replied.

"Anakin, I am Qui-Gon Jinn. I am the one who found you as a slave on Tatooine and I am the one who freed you from Watto's ownership.
Remember?" Qui-Gon asked him.

"I remember nothing of the Jedi. You are nothing to me any longer, as this Jedi I am confronting is soon to be nothing to me or the galaxy." Vader replied as he took his lightsaber into his hand. He prepared for battle. . .Suddenly Qui-Gon turned and saw a figure shrouded in the robes of a Jedi Knight slow when he saw Vader. He drew out his own lightsaber.

"I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. . ."

Obi-Wan!

Qui-Gon stared at the man Vader had identified as Obi-Wan. The years had truly aged the young man he had once known. Well considering what the last few decades had held for him, Obi-Wan had aged rather gracefully, Qui-Gon realized.

"Your powers are weak, old man." Vader said viciously.

"You can't win, Darth. If your strike me down I shall become more powerful
than you can possible imagine." Obi-Wan replied as he waited for Vader to make another move. Suddenly Qui-Gon felt another presence in the Force, and he turned to see a young man watching them. Obi-Wan saw him too and he smiled at Vader and then did the same to Qui-Gon.

Obi-Wan held his lightsaber in front of his face as though he were saluting
Vader and Qui-Gon watched as Obi-Wan Kenobi was struck down as though he were vermin.

"Noooooooooo!" Qui-Gon heard a voice shout.

Obi-Wan stood before him, restored to the youthful figure than Qui-Gon had last seen him as. Obi-Wan saw him.

"Master!" he exclaimed and suddenly Qui-Gon felt the arms of Obi-Wan around him. They were like that for a few seconds and Qui-Gon felt such contentment. Suddenly Obi-Wan pulled back and watching the young man
with concern.

"Run, Luke, run." he shouted and the young man bounded up into a waiting ship. Obi-Wan turned back and looked at Qui-Gon.

"I can't come with you yet, Master." he said.

"That young man I just saw. . ." Qui-Gon said.

"He is the only hope that the Jedi, indeed the galaxy, have left to defeat
the Dark Ones. I must stay here for him." Obi-Wan said.
