Ariel swam back to the underwater castle, feeling afraid. She'd been gone for too long. Her father would notice her missing. Worry rushed over her. Flounder wasn't with her, neither was Sebastian; completely alone in this battle. More worry came. She swam into the castle. No one was there. Not her father or her sisters. That made her even more worried. Why did the seagull have to take so long with talking about things that the people above the water had? She had enjoyed every single minute of it but now… now she was late to her home. 'Father will be upset,' she thought.
Slowly she swam through the castle, looking left and right for anyone. No one still. Finally she went to her room. There was someone there. Her father, King Titan, was there sitting on her bed. Ariel felt her whole body freeze right there.
"Where have you been," he asked.
"I... I was out," she weakly replied. King Titan got off of the bed and swam towards her, making her swim backwards to get away. He grabbed her arm and pulled her close to him. Her eyes closed.
"Liar." Ariel felt herself freeze even more. "Now tell me where you were." She shook her head. "TELL ME!" Again she shook her head. He threw her to the floor. "You're spoiled. I guess that's what I get for having you. A princess is never a good thing for a girl to have growing up. I take that as my fault but why won't you tell me where you've been? I'm sure that it's not that bad. So… tell me."
"Daddy... please. I can't tell you. You'll get angry," she breathed out.
"Angry? And you think I'm not angry right now? Because I am. My own daughter not speaking to me about where she'd been? Impossible. Was there a boy? If there was a boy I swear I'll…" He trailed off to for her to get his point.
"I can't tell you."
King Titan ripped her off the ground, forcing her to look at him. "I'm going to have to teach you a lesson then, one that you best not forget." He set her down. Her whole body shook from fear that was washing over her every second. He brought his hand up then down across her face. Ariel fell to the ground. "NOW TELL ME!" She shook her head, mumbling about how she was sorry and that she would never do it again. "Sure you won't. If you do it once then you can do it again. All women are the same. Your mother and your sisters all alike." His face was red with anger, his trident gripped in his hand. "All alike!" He kept chanting those words. Slowly he brought the trident up.
"Daddy… daddy no. No. Please. I'm sorry. I'll never do it again. I'm sorry." Her father brought it down, stabbing her stomach. A scream slipped out, high pitched and strangled. The pain came again and again as he repeated the action. She couldn't fight or anything. She couldn't. She slipped into darkness.
It had to be a few hours more that she woke up. Her whole body was drenched in something sticky. Blood. Her body hurt. Slowly she started swimming, holding her stomach. She felt something warm against it. Slimy as well. She didn't look.
Ariel entered one of her sister's room. Her sister was dead. A cry rose up in her throat but wouldn't come out. Going as quickly as she could she swam through the castle. They were all dead. Everyone of them. Her father must have done it. But… but where was he?
She swam still. There he was. He had hung himself. His body was swinging from an open window, his trident lying in disuse. Finally she looked down at her stomach. Her small intestine was in her hands. Her whole stomach was open. Blood was pouring down her, staining herself and the water around her. Ariel sunk to her knees. As she bent over the organs went on the floor. She felt them heave around when she vomited. Her body curled up on the floor. That was how she was going to die.
Again she slipped into darkness, never to return.
